- Here is some awesome footage at Castaic Lake that I have been so excited to share! There are some seriously insane striper boils in this video! At one point they just popped up out of nowhere and fully engulfed my boat. I managed to catch a couple good ones out of it and had a blast chasing them around for awhile. Thanks for watching I think you will get a kick out of it!

What's your favorite topwater lure to throw for the striper? Do you match the size to the shad in the water or doesn't matter with the boils?
I really love the river to sea “ROVER” size 128. It’s a big lure. White with some red under the nose and a feather trailer hook in the back. That’s a go to for me. The boils can be a challenge sometimes but I found that a lure that stands out is your best bet. Also it’s super important to be able to cast as far as possible. When I throw kastmaster I am trying to match the size of the shad. That worked really well for me last year. Boils aren’t happening yet. Hopefully this year is a good one. Lake is really healthy right now.

Please keep or kill those fish. It took 20 years for them to make a comeback. They replicate like rabbits and wipe themselves out.
