Die hard bobs guy, a 6’’ setback flats jack on both of our 21’ duck hunting boats. Game changer for running in shallow water 1’- and went from running 41mph to 50mph with just running a jack plate. Flats jack is nice the motor is inside the boat so you don’t have to worry about freezing
Let's hear your opinion of On The Fly Jack Plates. I run a manual on my flat bottom and its awesome! Literally it's on the fly, crank it up or crank it down.
Shawn Torrente is big is the f1 h20 tunnel boat circuit and the high performance world. Hes in south florida. Makes some nice products. Also alot of the high performance guys run the bobs and hydrodynamics plate. Both great plates!
My 1994 Lund Pro Bass 1790 (Yamaha 90TLRS 2 stroke) has an Atlas plate on it. No sure if it's helpful on the performance aspect but it sure does help with some of the shallow lake ramps I use.
I agree with most of what you said, except that 80+ mph boats you want a fast jackplate. As a owner of a bullet a fast plate can upset the handling and throw it off balance if the plate comes up too fast
Well, overall enjoy watching every video you release. But, one thing you didn’t address is setback. Which is better, 4, 6, 8 or 10”? What advantage does one over the other?
Hey I know your guy talk about bass boat normally. But how about recon boats out of Iola WI. Been looking for a muli-sepecies boat for bigger water. Mostly musky fishing. Thanks
Just went and was gonna buy a beautiful. 1999 Champion 187 dc. Was black and loaded with all the new good goodies, but when I was testing on the water, it was hard to plane out. Got it back on their trailer and found at some point they had broke the top of the jake plate on one side and had re- welded it. I didn't buy it, sure was beautiful boat. They didn't know what happened.
Do you recommend 4 or 6 bolts for a Yamaha f300 with a 6 inch jack plate? Seems like many are going with the 4 bolt transom plate up top and 2 bolts on bottom.
Love you guys, Happy New Year! I was hoping for more details on how they affect performance. You know like generalizations, that may apply to most boats.
My dad has been having a CMC hydraulic jackplate on his Champion since 1997. It is still in perfect working condition. Twice he has to replace a solenoid, that is it. That thing has been fished in A LOT, freshwater, brackish, and even the gulf. He put in on the boat for getting on step in shallow water and for boat control in rough water. Nothing to do with speed. It has been fine for all these years. My Champion has a Slidmaster manual plate. I would replace with hydraulic if I start fishing the marsh again for reds and specs.
Ok I know I am late to the game but what's with the guy in the Tesla shirt with the Darth Vader helmet on ? I thought I saw him the last time I watched the video......A can you please do a video about hull pads and pad/plates. Thanks Jim..
So I have a 90s boat and i want to add shallow water anchors. I dont have a jackplate but im thinking of getting a manual one not really for adjustability but mostly for the setback plus to mount the anchors too. Do you (or anyone) have a recommended manual jackplate for that? You mentioned slidemaster for poles, and that is exactly what Im looking for. Thanks for the video!
Im thinking about running an on the fly jack plate on my jon boat its a 16-48 i currently have a 15h on it the river i fish goes from 10ft to 6in and i really dont want a jet motor its very rocky does anybody else have a similar situation or any advice im thinking about getting a 25 ir 30 eventually
Do you have any videos on common 2005+ outboards and how they are to repair *today*? I'm concerned if i go pickup a 2007 225 VMAX, can I still get parts for it? Lots of NLA/Obsolete parts? Merc better than Yamaha there? etc?
Im running a bobs after seeing your other video on jackplates definitely a great company. You can reach out to them and they will get back to you. And thats what matters the most in my opinion.
I just purchased a SeaArk Easy 200 w/ 150 ProXS and manual 10" plate, upgraded prop. Boat is rated to 200, but it's a family rig. Fish, ski/tube, pleasure. Boat will rum 55-58ish. Plenty fast for a family boat. However the temptation to move up to hydraulic and a 200 is tempting. 65+ would be fun from time to time.
As a eventually someday one day boat owner this is the type of info I need. Thanks. For a shirt why don’t y’all do that Team Marine with the skull and wrenches logo? I’d buy one of them for sure.
I run a Vance manufacturing manual plate on one of my boats (this boat I typically fish deeper and bigger water, where I don't need constant adjustment) and have nothing but an amazing experience with it from the build quality to the customer service I received. On my other smaller boat (for running rivers and canals) I have an Onthefly plate and I could say the same thing...both high quality units.
A lot of our bay boats and flats boats here in Florida come with Atlas hydraulic plates from the manufacturer. A lot of us change out to Bobs. The Atlas seems to “walk” on its way up and not as fast as Bob’s once we get 250-300 hp motors on them.
Do a video about if it's going to get hard for evinrude guys to get serviced for G2s and warranty? Looking at a 521 with a G2 250 and warranty till 2027, but I'm very hesitant to pull the trigger.
TH hasn’t had an Atlas hydraulic on their website in a really long time. Seems only dealers and builders are getting those. If I upgrade my new boat looking like it will be a Bobs.
Bought a 2006 Stratos 294 with a 200 merc dfi and was shocked by how bad the chine was. Has a 6 in manual plate on it now and is 3.5 p2p with a 26p tempest plus (probably to big). Would a bigger plate help the chine any?
I had the same boat but a 2010 model. Your to deep in the water. Raise the motor to 2.75" - 2.5" below pad depending on the condition of your prop. It's chine walking bad at approx 67-68mph isn't it? If your new to the boat and learning it then fill your livewells with water. It will balance the boat and help you learn to drive it WOT. I never could run a 26p prop without being all on the limiter. The 2 very best all around props I found for that rig were a 27turbo txp and a 28 merc bravo1. Both with 2 large and 1 medium pvs plug for holeshot. The tempest was killer for holeshots but not great on top end. Your 6" plate is fine, but 8" setback is the sweet spot for that boat/motor. Adding 2" jp spacers is cheap if you decide to do that.
Bob's Machine Shop has been sued many times for product failure totaling in the 10's of millions of dollars. One of my best was crushed against the steering wheel after hitting a log the engine broke loose from the jack plate and landed in the cockpit. His partner got the worst of it, the prop sliced arm wide open and devoured one of his legs. The leg was
Other than for setback, I won't find the manual jack plates practical at all, on smaller skiffs, anyways. If, in order to adjust (which would be crucial in shallows) you have to stop and get on the water to play with bolt and wrenches that's kinda of stupid, honestly lol
Please include time stamps breaking down each topics that way we can skip to the info we need for the moment. I find UA-cam channels that include time stamps grow subscribers faster and viewers appreciate the ease of finding specific topics. Thanks
first!!!! 30 seconds after post! love you guys
I like the Mandalorian and Boba Fett helmet the guy in the background had 🤣 good video I learned something
What Jackplates are y'all running? Let us know!
None!!!! The 50 horse merc on the back of my tracker does it all on its own babyyyy!!!! Lol
Hydro dynamics rapid jack on the 20xd
Bob’s Machine 12” hydraulic.
Slide master cause I’m broke
Detwiler Hydraulic
Im running a 10" Bob's hydraulic plate! Love it
I just got one and it's awesome
12" Atlas Hydro plate
Congrats Jordan! Good vid & Y’all have a great 2023!
Thanks!
Love the Champion in the back ground. Champ owner 😀😁
Atlas 6” love it! Love the “extras” you hired for the background
6" manual Rapid Jack. I wish I had just gone with a hydraulic plate at the time I bought the boat.
I'm a Bob's guy but I like the Atlas plates too
Die hard bobs guy, a 6’’ setback flats jack on both of our 21’ duck hunting boats. Game changer for running in shallow water 1’- and went from running 41mph to 50mph with just running a jack plate. Flats jack is nice the motor is inside the boat so you don’t have to worry about freezing
I didnt expect to see the galactic bounty hunter in the background @4:09 a bonus 😂
HAHAHA
Congratulations on the new baby Jordan!!!
Let's hear your opinion of On The Fly Jack Plates. I run a manual on my flat bottom and its awesome! Literally it's on the fly, crank it up or crank it down.
Love the guy walking around in the background with the space helmet on!!!!
It was his "father!"
Shawn Torrente is big is the f1 h20 tunnel boat circuit and the high performance world. Hes in south florida. Makes some nice products. Also alot of the high performance guys run the bobs and hydrodynamics plate. Both great plates!
THANK FOR THE INFO YOU GUY ROCK
Congrats Jordan!!
I run a 8 inch hydraulic Bob’s on a BassCat. Love it! Very reliable and fast.
My 1994 Lund Pro Bass 1790 (Yamaha 90TLRS 2 stroke) has an Atlas plate on it. No sure if it's helpful on the performance aspect but it sure does help with some of the shallow lake ramps I use.
Andy, look up a Mercury Paralift and that was the original Porta Plate style. You covered it well, though there is so much more to this historically.
Will do!
steering stiffens when I raise my hydraulic jack plate on Mercury Optimax Pro XS
I had a Land & Sea Hydraulic Jack Plate on my Switzer. It was a 2" setback. Worked great but my was used and it had a slow leak.
I agree with most of what you said, except that 80+ mph boats you want a fast jackplate. As a owner of a bullet a fast plate can upset the handling and throw it off balance if the plate comes up too fast
Great show
Apparently the "Force" is with this vid.... 🤣🤣
This is not the jack plate your looking for ..........
Finally you said something good about Allison . They kinda invented the bass boat as we know it today.
Looking for information on Detwiler oil fill (how)?
great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
I have 19 foot Winner ski and fish. Thinking of getting Jack plate. Some say4 in some say 6 in. Gets confusing. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! I've been thinking about getting a jack plate for my longer runs in skinny water. Congrats to Jordan and his wife.
What type jackplate i cud use on my 17 foot Boston whaler 115hp
Well, overall enjoy watching every video you release. But, one thing you didn’t address is setback. Which is better, 4, 6, 8 or 10”? What advantage does one over the other?
What about Vance? That’s what I run on a walleye boat in Canada and just assumed they were popular
I just got a Vance which seems heavy duty. Wish you could comment.
Nice helmet/helmets video bombs! Lol. Love the content!
What brand of manual plate will give the greatest range of lift and lowering ?
Hey I know your guy talk about bass boat normally. But how about recon boats out of Iola WI. Been looking for a muli-sepecies boat for bigger water. Mostly musky fishing. Thanks

Atlas 6”… is that a different trolling motor behind you? Such as power pole?
Is a Manuel plate a good option if you just want it to mount power poles?
have you guys come across a TH marine Z-Lock manual jack plate?
Do you recommend 4 or 6 bolts for a Yamaha f300 with a 6 inch jack plate? Seems like many are going with the 4 bolt transom plate up top and 2 bolts on bottom.
Love you guys, Happy New Year! I was hoping for more details on how they affect performance. You know like generalizations, that may apply to most boats.
Atlas was back ordered for 4 months so when my boat came in I went with a sea star extreme for my Suzuki 300. Im liking it so far but we’ll see.
My dad has been having a CMC hydraulic jackplate on his Champion since 1997. It is still in perfect working condition. Twice he has to replace a solenoid, that is it. For a boat that porpoises with the motor flat on the transom, do I want more setback or less?
Ok I know I am late to the game but what's with the guy in the Tesla shirt with the Darth Vader helmet on ? I thought I saw him the last time I watched the video......A can you please do a video about hull pads and pad/plates. Thanks Jim..
Not running one unfortunately. Will install one if I ever have to take the motor off.
10 slide master manual oe installed on my champion

Question for you whats best bass boat trailer tire u recommend? I have 2014 920 phoenix
I'm running a Atlus 8" on my Ranger 461vs

Pimping out a tiller would probably make more sense, money spent vs use factor.
My 8" Slide master is perfect for me, I only adjusted it a couple times when I first got my Cat. Once I dialed it in never needed to do it again.
As a eventually someday one day boat owner this is the type of info I need. Thanks. For a shirt why don’t y’all do that Team Marine with the skull and wrenches logo? I’d buy one of them for sure.

What about the plate that Mercury made years ago?
Who that stars wars fan ,,,, caught that in the background!!!SPEED, MONEY, NO BRAKES!!!

Didn’t know you shoot from the Death Star!
What is the purpose of a set back?
12” Bob’s Hydraulic custom color….Lime Green carbon fiber hydro-dipped on my 2017 Legend V20
What’s your take on new riveted Jon boats vs all welded?
Do a video about if it's going to get hard for evinrude guys to get serviced for G2s and warranty? Looking at a 521 with a G2 250 and warranty till 2027, but I'm very hesitant to pull the trigger.
No reason to be hesitant. I've had my ETec since 2009 and only had to replace a injector. No issues with regular maintenance
TH hasn’t had an Atlas hydraulic on their website in a really long time. Seems only dealers and builders are getting those. If I upgrade my new boat looking like it will be a Bobs.
What plate does Vader recommend?
I had a Bob’s Hydraulic on my Skeeter & now have an Atlas on my new Caymas. You can’t go wrong with either but I think the Bob’s is slightly faster.
What setback u run on your caymas? I have a cx 20 w a manual
Would you see any performance benefit to a jackplate in boats that aren't racing or bass hulls? Like a bowrider for example?
You should use that shwack in every video. I’d also like to see Mike back for another episode but make It awkward as hell. Lol cool videos Andy
Heyyy where's the international shipping of the Merch!!? Finland asking, have a great new year 😎
Who's the mandalorian behind you?
What about the TH Marine Z-lock manual plate? Also congrats Jordan on the great news!
Good video, but I still don't know what a jack plate is or does. 🤷♂️
Is that’s a PowerPole trolling motor covered in the back?!
Oh crap! I have a rite-hite 6inch on my boat. Guess I better call these guys and ask where they break/crack at.
it's a shame you did not made a comparative table with all details
When did the mandalorian start working for you!
Since the beginning! lol

Wow!!!!!
I know both of the guys this happened to definitely a true story
First comment? 😂

I run a bobs action jack... been sweet
Getting a bobs. You need to do a vid on all the hydraulic steering mfg. !!!!!!
What’s with boba fet? Shop must not be keeping him busy enough!
*whip crack*
Lol darth Vader! Love your vids!!!
Please include time stamps breaking down each topics that way we can skip to the info we need for the moment. I find UA-cam channels that include time stamps grow subscribers faster and viewers appreciate the ease of finding specific topics. Thanks
What plate does Lord Vader prefer?
Bob's! Lol
Check out the goofballs in the back round 🤣
Looks like somebody has a sweet star wars helmet collection.
Is that Darth in the back ground??
Bob's and Basscat !
I see Luke's father lol. Running atlas 6" hyd plate. That river water doesn't make it happy sometimes.
Nice Darth Vader appearance 😂
Mandalorian is in the house.
Starwars characters in the background 😂😂
12" Atlas Hydro
Did you have you SKEETER SPRAY with you lmao.😂
