Wow, he is awesome! Perfectly in sync with Count and Ella. You must be so proud of him! What great smiles, too, both you and your father!
@@KaliforniaKelly63 I really appreciate that… Thank you!! And yes I am, though he’s passed on now, his music will live on forever! 🎵 🥰
That's incredible! He's very talented. What an amazing experience it must have been - and a story to share - for you both.
Your dad was a legend. Much respect
Ms. Ella still sounded amazing as an older woman, and Mr. Basie never lost his touch on the keys ❤️ This is back when artists and entertainers had longevity
i love her laugh at 1:55 when count basie makes the fats waller eyes 😂😭🖤
What a fantastic walking bass line!

Thank goodness for the internet. 7 years after this posting, I came across it this morning. I is just fantastic. This is just perfect!!!!
Basie so gently passing the song to Ella.......Timeless!
You can see she really enjoys playing with this band, led by her great friend Count Basis.
Swing at its best. The great Count Basie and the fantastic Ella Fitzgerald.

‘Tis care with witch I task myself,
‘Opeless on a summer’s dawn,
To find a green-whiff lonely elf;
O pray he wins... free yellow?!?
Yawn...

I remember when Count Basie, lived in St.Albans, Queens , when I was child. I used to go to the St. Albans Park and used to see his daugther, escorted by a nurse. I didn't know who Count Basie was, because I was just a child, he is also another great musician.
M A R A V I L H O S O S !!!! perfeitos!!!! Amooo Ella!!!
Just close your eyes and feeell this amazing display of greatness!!
She still sounds just as good as she did when she was young
Thanks to Google Translate:
Unforgettable meeting of Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie in a 1979 special.
Basie's unique rhythm with the perfect balance of Ella's voice. A brilliant marriage that yielded sublime performances.
Honeysuckle Rose, composed in 1929 by Fats Waller with lyrics by Andy Razaf.
It's very good, but I _really_ enjoy the 1963 album version with Ella fronting the full CB orchestra. That version smacks you in the face. This is a more sedate version.
Heavenly voice - Elegant Ella! ....... Love seeing how the band interact to create this gem ...... xx
As good as music gets.. Two aging giants that still had gas in the tank
Absolutely genius, Like fine wine
Love the rapport between all three. It isn't about any one part. Brilliant performance.
Agreed. Well, 4 including the drummer
Can't forget Duffy!
Her scat is perfect!!

The always wonderfully understated Mr.Basie.
Ella es la reina del jazz para mí. La adoro. 💕
And heaven opened up and this fell out for us to enjoy.
2:21 oml that lick Ella did. Truly amazing
I'm glad it was on digital, not on Memorex. My glassware couldn't have handled that.

I held a wine glass up to my laptop speakers when she hit those high notes, but it didn't shatter. UA-cam's audio compression is not the same as Memorex.

Honey, honey,
Oh, honey, listen to my plea:
Every honeybee
Fills with jealousy,
When they see you out with me!
I don't blame them, goodness knows,
Oh, honey! suckle rose!
When you're passin' by,
Flowers droop and sigh
And I know the reason why,
You're my sweety, goodness knows,
Oh, honey! suckle rose!
I don't buy sugar,
You just have to touch my cup;
I don't need sugar,
It's sweet enough when you stir it up!
When I'm taking sips
From your dainty lips,
Seems the honey fairly drips,
You're confection, goodness knows,
Oh, honey! suckle rose.
Every honeybee
Fills with jealousy,
When they see you out with me!
I don't blame them, goodness knows,
Oh, honey! suckle rose!
When you're passin' by,
Flowers droop and sigh,
And I know the reason why,
You're my sweety, goodness knows,
Oh, honey ! suckle rose!
I don't buy sugar,
You just have to touch my cup;
I don't need sugar,
It's sweet, stir it up!
When I'm taking sips
From your dainty lips,
Seems the honey fairly drips,

Who is the drummer, it's obviously not Mickey Roker. Looks like a super young Mel Lewis.
