- "Honeysuckle Rose" was composed in 1929 by Fats Waller and Andy Razaf. Anita O'Day recorded her version of the song on her 1956 studio album "Anita". O'Day's voice was originally criticized for it's lack of range and power. However, she compensated for this with her musicianship which gave her the uncanny ability to play with the beat of a song. She is recognized today as a jazz legend. Enjoy! Thanks For Your Comments.
She is the epitome of syncopation and sophistication presented together.
A real lady of Jazz. Thanks Anita.

she was a hip chick!
That bass is amazing as well
Some say she wasn't in the same class as Billie, Ella and Sara. I say Sara Vaughn is the odd woman out. Sara has an amazing voice. Anita us more like Ella or Billie who has a idiosyncratic voice but makes the best of it.
Every honeybee fills with jealousy
When they see you out with me
I don't blame goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
When you're passin' by flowers droop and sigh
And I know the reason why
You're my sweet goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Don't buy sugar
You just have to touch my cup
You're my sugar
It's sweeter when you stir it up
When I'm taking sips from your tasty lips
Seems the honey fairly drips
You're my goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Babadubo duduooh
Sing every honeybee fills with jealousy
When they see you out with me
I don't blame goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
When you're passin' by flowers droop and sigh
And I know the reason why
You're my sweet goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Don't buy sugar
Dabadabadabadaba my cup
You're my sugardubadubi
It's sweeter when you stir it up
When I'm taking sips from your tasty lips
Seems the honey fairly drips
You're my goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Every honeybee fills with jealousy
When they see you out with me
I don't blame goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
When you're passin' by flowers droop and sigh
And I know the reason why
You're my sweet goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Don't buy sugar
Dubidubuda touch my cup
You're my sugar
It's sweeter when you stir it up
When I'm taking sips from your tasty lips
Seems the honey fairly drips
You're my goodness knows
Honey suckle rose
Dubaduba...
Honey suckle, honey suckle
Dudubududua...
Goodness knows Honey you are my suckle rose
Does it best
