I like this! It is very expressive! Any tips for an artist who has mainly stayed in dry media and watercolors on using oils and other opaque paints?

Experiment. Play around with different techniques. Thin down your paints or lay 'em on thick... Each kind of paint (watercolor, oil, acrylic, etc...) has different characteristics and so the best tip I can offer is to try them out for yourself and figure out which one you like best. :)
