  • Have you seen my Short and want to know how to paint the whole Painting?
Today we painted on 16x20" Black Canvas using Thick Oil Paints with Liquid Clear. Colors will be listed below. I look forward to seeing your painting! Send in pics via Facebook Messenger to / paintwithjosh
Colors : Phthalo Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Midnight Black, & Titanium White
Tools : 1" & 2" Brushes, 2 Fan Brushes (Size : Whatever works best for you. One needs to be larger than the other), Palette Knife, & a Script Liner Brush.
Canvas Prep : I took a 16x20" Black Canvas from Michael's or Hobby Lobby out of the pack and put it on my easel. When it came time to paint this scene, I applied Bob Ross Liquid Clear to the entire canvas and then wiped the excess off with paper towel. I added Phthalo Blue and Alizarin Crimson in different areas across the whole canvas, and start painting. I show you everything else on screen
How to Bob Ross Liquid Clear - • How to apply Bob Ross ...
Can't wait to see what you can do! I answer every comment and question so feel free to reach out if you get stuck.

I would def agree with joah on oil paints. I've been trying to paint for over a year now with acrylic paints and hardly ever finished a painting bc I just couldn't get it and it qas bc how fast it dries. For someone like me I had so much more fun with the oil paints and actually finished a painting that's wasn't to bad . Ty for ur videos josh

@@PaintWithJoshosh- try using Turpinoid natural- for cleaning brushes-
It cleans same- but is non toxic-
Maybe- use a few brushes- while painting- so you don’t have to clean them while in action- clean after- if you don’t like and or want to use the turpinoid natural for whatever reason-
This suggestive feedback is because your in such a confined area without any open air and or ventilation-- the odorless paint thinner- cleaner- is toxic - and your unfortunately inhaling the minute air particles and fumes-
Your a wonderful guy- from what you present- we’d like to see you have a full prosperous healthy life--
I said - it and I’m sticking to it-
      Suggestion for landscape scene:
A northern light- with the same color scheme seen here- and birch trees-
Also- step back have a look- this one is beautiful- feedback only regarding the
      (Compositional aspect of the landscape)
Would have added another row of the trees (ones on horizon) in front of those at horizon- to fill in that area- (the right side can see it would look balanced) also adding more layers to the scene - thus- more depth and again a balance…
Great instructions as always- beautiful piece- and a joy to watch…
Please- consider the above regarding cleaning brushes- I know you have many brushes- so cleaning while in action is not necessary-
Can clean brushes outside - in the air- using mask and gloves- if you again don’t want to switch from use of odorless thinner-
Josh- your luved all throughout the world!!! We want you around- and have a happy- healthy - prosperous life!!!
      Capice!!
Btw- don’t worry about paint on pants- always good to have a few pairs of pants to use while painting-
Please can you respond to this: are you using the Ross paints here or the Windsor and Newton (winton ) brand?? I ask because your colors are beautiful- and the texture of the paint is very good-
I heard the Ross company did change manufactures around five yrs ago- regarding the paints and brushes-
I have like 50 of each Bob Ross brushes- but from timeline before they changed manufacturing company-
Also- I had purchased 10 sets of the large tubed landscape set of paints prior to changing manufacture-
I just would like to know - about the paint- as looking in your palette- and the results of your paintings- the colors (hues) are beautiful- thank you for your time-
Ask- Bram about the brushes- he was on a mission yrs back to find the older brushes-
I paint Alla prima- was inspired by paint with Kevin (Kevin Hill) in 2011- when he posted his very first video- and once I’ reached that ah ha moment- of establishing the brushwork- I’ then focused only on seascapes-
But use the same method as you do -
      Alla prime method-
You have helped me with clouds- after 7 yrs -of watching Kevin - Bob Ross- and practicing- my mind could not get it- until I found you- so thank you Josh!! You’ve also inspired me to get into the northern lights- nocturne scenes- so thank you !!
Final feedback- suggestion- if you would consider making a 3/4 sleeve - woman’s tee- with same design you wear while on screen- and have the paint design along the sleeves- maybe throw in a few puffy clouds along- soft - faded look of few clouds on the front or back- not many and one side - front or back so not too busy - like two -
The 3/4 sleeve with that paint design you have on the tee you always wear would look awesome-
There’s many older ladies who can’t wear tees (short sleeve) our arms tend to go south as we age- just a suggestion

Hello my name is Peter I'm from Egypt and I love your videos, learned alot from them. (I had a question regarding blending and stretching colours). It always seems like you are painting on a wet canvas and the colours just stretch and blend more finely than when I try to paint and so do you use a special kind of aclyric paint or oil and how can you get the paint to stretch so easily on the canvas.
    Thank you

    • @PaintWithJosh
      @PaintWithJosh  Рік тому

I only use oils. Wet on wet technique means we take wet paint and put it onto a wet canvas. I've heard you can dip your brush in water to make acrylic act more like oils

      @peterramy7101 Рік тому

Great thanks alot. Last question, is the bob ross liquid clear the one you used to make a wet canvas right?

    • @Milania717
      @Milania717 Рік тому

@peterramy7101 you can use linseed oil very small amount on canvas mix with white oil paint- to make a liquid white Bob Ross (liquid white)… if you can’t buy it there--
Don’t apply too much - after apply it- go over it with your brush- and test it with finger should see a light print on finger-
Also- use the Windsor and Newton (Winton brand oils) they sell it there-
Are you in Cairo? I live there 4 months a year-- from America- just like Egypt living- from Shobrah- And Mahutahm- And Giza- it’s hot there now-
Checkout- Yasser Fayad UA-cam he oil paints and has lessons- from Egypt-
Paints Alla prima - wet on wet- Bob Ross style-

Hahaha that's a good P. Sometimes I put the painting inside a cardboard box and seal it up with tape. Kind of the same idea as putting your wet phone in a bag of rice concept. Draws the moisture from the paint. A lot of times I add a bunch of packs of those silica bead things that you're supyto throw away lol.

Hello Josh! New to your channel. I was wondering if you've tried painting with acrylics? I watch Bob Ross videos for my landscapes, but struggle with acrylics. I know Bob uses Oils, but I don't have the patience or the space for an oil painting to dry.

The trick with acrylics is using a flow medium, stops the paint drying so quickly. Jo Sonja flow medium is good

Acrylic painting is actually harder for beginners-
There’s absolutely no reason not to use oils- cost same- and Bob Ross method is toxic free- you don’t have to clean brushes with odorless paint thinner- can use turpinoid natural- it’s a product same as the odorless thinner- but toxic free- also- baby oil( paint with Kevin has info about this method- I haven’t used but he cleans his brushes with baby oil)….
Oil paints cost same- Windsor and Newton !(Newton brand) … is good paints for this method- or Bob Ross-
      Gamblin 1980 is also good-

Yes and let it dry. Then add dark colors that stay dark on the canvas like Prussian blue. Then add white to brighten
