You're your own worst critic my friend; there's nothing wrong with this painting. Many folks would love your ability. But you have to realise that it's not just your paintings that people like; it's your manner, your style, your warm personality that attracts us folks on the internet.
You're a good bloke Alan who tries to entertain us and share your knowledge; so pat yourself on the back and be proud of what you're doing on here.

I'm a beginner at water coloring so I have watched hundreds of artist do their thing. Yours have taught me the most. You keep it simple and fun. I love it.

Alan, that was fascinating - and as so often, you go and apologize for it! You really don't need to - there was a marvellous lesson in there, and I'm sure many of us have learned from it. Sorry you weren't feeling too well, but I think the weather got you down a bit (it certainly has that effect on me when it's wet and 'orrible). I do admire the way you go straight in with the pen and ink, with no preliminary pencil work, and still get clean, straight lines in all the right places: even when working uphill for the benefit of the camera. Don't knock yourself, lad!

I always learn something new when you post a video - especially the way you use light and colour. You are such good company and I miss seeing you paint when you need to take a break. As far as the rain and background noise, no worries! It makes us all feel like we are there with you sharing a cup of tea and learning to pain. so lovely; every little touch of the brush turns in to something beautiful, when I try to do the same thing it turns in to a dot or a dash, not a tree or a sailboat, lol love your work and your accent! oh, and the gentle dropping of the rain !!!

I think this painting is excellent. I wish I had the confidence to do a pen and wash like this. I am a newby with watercolour (6 years) and have difficulty in finding classes, with only 3 or 4 workshops a year. Watching artists such as yourself is the only way I get to try techniques and styles. Please keep posting and I hope you are feeling much better now. Thank you

Very nice, no need for apologies! Love your continuous remarks - the what, the why, the how. I'm new to watercolor (though not to drawing) and this is very helpful, particularly how to mix colors and use brushes. The rain and birds were a nice accompaniment, too.
