This sense of perfectionism always stems from childhood. How you were brought up by your parents. I can relate deeply to Slater. I’m 27 and had to go to therapy because of the anxiety brought about by my “perfectionism”.
I was watching this after i watched kryz's vlog for today. It makes my day so worthwhile even if i was just chilling or lying in bed in this rainy sunday morning....can't thank you enough for all the knowledge and words of wisdom you partake to us who listens or watches your skypodcast.😊
For me turning off notifications from social media helped me. Coz only when i’m “free” lang ako magoopen. then when it comes to work stuff naman I set sa notif sched na during working hours lng dpt ako manotify.

For the cellphone addiction, what about setting time frames for when you can use your phone and not? Like intermittent fasting pero for phone usage haha or set time limits? Give yourself many hours a day lang for certain apps. Theres a time limit setting sa iphone that can remind you but it can easily be snoozed if dili disciplined 😅Hope it helps!
It really boils down to discipline, we get so distracted by our gadgets that even if we don't receive any notifications, it became our habit to check our phones. What helped was the Pomodoro technique, it's like time blocking instead of getting things done by multiple segments, you basically create a block of time to spend one task at time but the catch is every after 30-45 mins, you get to have a break of 15-20mins for checking your mobile or whatnot and get back to work. You need set a timer by the way. I swear, It's like magic! To Slater, you should try.
Remove the badge notifs (the red blob notif on the app) in the Settings. It can help you transition into a more deliberative checking where you only open the app when you really intend to, rather than being enticed by the notif at any given time.
I rigidly remind myself to do small chores or take a bath upon waking up asap. 😂 Checking your phone/ soc med right after waking up tangles you to the past instead of the present so you sometimes don’t feel that energy/ motivation. Time blocking also helps! 😁
when Slater mentioned about athletes losing points when they put their phones in front of them, I automatically thought of Black Mirror episode (15 million merits).\
2:10 HAHAHA I guess the answer is on your tiktok (TING TING TANG TANG CHALLENGE) HAHAHAHA this sooo cute, both of you are so cute. this my vibe. Sobrang natutulungan nyo ko lalo na kapag ang dami kong tanong idk pero sobrang sarap talaga makinig sa mga podcast nyo🥰❤️❤️
Mark Manson in his book “Everything is F*cked” says that we are more stressed today despite of our more comfortable life than that of the pervious eras because we have a lot more to lose. Share ko lang HAHAHA I think this is related to prince of egypt topic hahaha btw, that’s the ‘blue book’ you’re talking about the previous podcast. 😁
Tips for focusing: 📱 Face your phone down when it’s on the table 📴 Disable badge icon notifications 📞 Set a different ring tone for urgent calls/ contacts Hope this helps
Slater, you can use digital well being if you're on Android Pie or higher. For iOS, I think it's screen time. I've set focus for certain hours and I lock all my social media apps so I won't swipe the day away. I've also taken advantage of my phone's bedtime mode and turn off all notifications when it's my bed time so it's one less distraction from sleeping.
I sold my gaming phone to minimize my screen time and to be productive. So I replaced my gaming lifestyle to Cycling, it helped me both physically and mentally. Now I use a cheap phone, doesn't have much battery life and not performing like my previous phone but it's enough to make the work done. First thing in the morning I just check my phone if there's an important thing to do then if its all done I quit using my phone and help with household chores then workout.
The University of Pennsylvania did a study, and discovered men have the ability to think about absolutely nothing and still breathe (this is when you see the “spaced out” look on men’s faces). Very different from mommy brain, mom-brain is R E A L - my child is 3 years old now and can say it has gotten better, but not quite as it was pre-child yet. I heavily rely on my calendar, reminders, alarms and lists now, lol.
I had this issue before, most especially my line of work caters globally- may Asia, Latin America and Middle east and africa regions, and because I was given a company phone-which means I should be able to respond during urgent situation). My phone is always on silent mode... or from time to time naka on yung sounds but I always put a default na no notification badge showing. kahit whatsapp msg, or emails, etc. The only time na nakikita yung messages is when I deliberately look at my phone. And I was clear of the definition of urgent and critical situations. And the mindset na hindi lahat ng emails/ requests or messages eh urgent/critical. I set boundaries for myself which mahirap bec I like what I do, and its also because you love what you do kaya din siguro your mind always think about these stuffs. That goes the same for emails, my day used to be controlled by others emails. Now, I put allocated time in my working hours to check on emails - starting the day: only urgent emails, midday- I will have 30mins to check; end of day- just to check what stuff I need to prepare and do the next day or plan my next week work activities. It is not a perfect solution, but it helps. But again, younare talking about our individual ways of working, and sometimes changing the habit, and getting used to a new ways of working take a few weeks/months until you are comfortable with it.. when you feel after 3 days na you cant do without notification or on a silent mode... dont give up, push mo lang ng few more days!!!

Every single of your video is relatable and its funny because i thought that its weird to think like that pero marami palang ganyan mag isip and its a relief. 🍻 Cheers 😁.
Same problem here No Cellphone Rules 10pm -8am bed time And lunch time I leave my phone in the bedroom if I need to do something really important .... sometime I remove wifi connection so that only calls and text can go through! And yes it’s hard!!!!!!!! I fail a lot of time ... just like now .... 😂😂😂😂 But tomorrow is another day ...
What I do to stop thinking about work even when I'm at home or it's a weekend is I got to two phones with different mobile #s. One yung para work and is synced to my email. Yung isa naman family and friends lng talaga. I bring my 2 phones when I leave the house pero pag uwi ko, I just put away my work phone. You can also give your personal number to one person from work para in case mye emergency talaga, they can still contact you.
I always correct my Caucasian friends when they say the Philippines is a Third World country. I actually believe that the US can be considered the third world because their emotional intelligence is very low.

Relate much sa mom brain, from remembering what food is in the ref to meal planning to finding recipes and groceries... within just a short moment😂😂

Have you heard of the term mental load? Most wives and mothers have this. It's when even if you're resting, but you still think of the chores.
"Eccentricities". Only Engineers can relate. :)
