    Hey Amy! Yup here I am 2 months late as usual lol... Right off the bat I loved how the drone followed you as you packed up camp, such a cool sequence! Watching this sure makes me wish I was on "river time", so peaceful and lovely. The leisurely pace on a river trip is so nice, and you've made it so relaxing to watch. Thanks for bringing us along! Hope all is well with you 🍻🛶

Hope you've also been well. I've got to get out and make the most of the good cold weather before it gets too hot again!

    Woo Hoo, i have been hanging out for part 3.. luv watching your journey. Coming from the Territory, I keep thinking the river should be filled with Bara and crocodiles 🐊 . Thank you soooo much for the trouble and effort you put in, so we can follow you along. It is greatly appreciated. Xxxxxx

      Cheers tPP, and thanks for checking out my latest episode, even though it's a couple of months old now, lol. Yep, I'm finding it hard to find the time (and sometimes the motivation) to edit much since I got back from my Murray Expedition. I'm hoping 2023 is the year that I get a bit more spare time to get back into it! I'm still out there adventuring and recording it all - so the backlog of potential videos just gets longer and longer, haha!

    Love watching your journey,it’s a dream of mine.Would like to know about your choice of vessel looks very cool and why that one.Thanks

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Jenny, and thanks for watching! I chose Little Blue (my Old Town Next) after a very long deliberation and trying out a number of different options! I settled on a Next because it's basically got all the bits I like from a kayak (can be paddled with a double-blade paddle, has foot pegs, you sit lower in the boat) and all the bits I like from a canoe (HUGE storage capacity for a 13ft boat, lots of leg and wriggle room which allows different leg positions throughout the day, and easy to load because I can use my waterproof duffel bags), and being plastic means she's pretty bombproof because I'm not very gentle with my gear. It has some drawbacks, i.e. it's slow compared to normal touring kayaks, and your lower legs get wet from paddle drips which can be a bit cold in winter... but they were heavily outweighed by the benefits this little canoe has.

    Loving your journey Amy. You look so comfortable in your seat. I have a canoe but find my back can get sore with no back rest. Is your seat part of the canoe or something you have fitted after?

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 роки тому

      G'day Graham, thanks for following along! oh, I love my seat! it's the most comfortable seat I've use in a canoe or kayak. I can sit in it for hour without getting cramp... and yes, it came with the canoe, an Old Town Next. It sits on sliding rails which means you can move backwards and forewards depending where your load is, which is also very handy.

    • @grahamjamieson1489
      @grahamjamieson1489 2 роки тому +1

      @@AmyOutdoors thanks. Also have an Old Town on loan. It has the wicker type seats. Might see if I can retrofit something.
      I am a bit of a novice with canoeing. At what sort of wind speed do you feel is safe for you (I know it can vary according to individual and craft) on open water. We have a lake nearby but I am a bit hesitant to go out on my own if it looks like it is going to be windy.
      Thanks for your reply. Keep on paddling.

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 роки тому

      @@grahamjamieson1489 is a bit hard to say re: wind because it depends on the direction and the features around you too... as a very general guide on open water I prefer it to be blowing at less than 10km/hour, up to 15km/h is ok but getting a bit choppy, over 20 just isn't much fun.

    • @grahamjamieson1489
      @grahamjamieson1489 2 роки тому +1

      @@AmyOutdoors thanks. We did the Glenelg River with head winds up to 40kmh. A real pain. We had to keep searching for the sheltered side of the river. Strong winds on open water is a different matter. I don't feel comfortable in regard to safety out there.

    Hi Amy, really enjoying following your odyssey. Did you consider starting further upstream from Walwa or was the river too low, fast or too many obstacles (snags rapids)?

    • @AmyOutdoors
      @AmyOutdoors  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Greg! I did consider starting up higher, and the water was at the perfect level at the time, but the rapids worried me a bit too much... I'd only ever paddled very slow moving water before that. I'd definitely like to get back up there now though!
