Operation Trebuchet is a total conversion for Arma 3 set during the insurrection. It takes full advantage of Arma's systems to simulate what the equipment of the universe would actually be like to use, down to the smallest details like the computers in the helmets and the targeting systems in the gauss hog
"If you could make your own Halo fan game..." I was for a while, but then I learned that MCC on PC was getting modding tools so I quite working on the fan game and plan on making a big ass mod with single player and multiplayer. A colorful cast of Spartan I's-III's, playable Elites, & Hunters that defected from the Covenant, and you could choose to play as any of them and pick others to be your squadmates (although you could go it alone), squad combat, an open world, all UNSC & Covenant Vehicles & Weapons and ALL Veriants are player useable (That means flying ships like the Marathon Class or aiming & firing Orbital MAC's). Also, a bit of survival stuff & some RPG elements. You have to survive on an Forerunner world without any support while fighting the Covenant, Insurrectionist, the Flood, & (slightly redesigned) Prometheans. Shit's fucked, but your shit is the most fucked. You have to find other playable characters to unlock them and add them to your team, find Marines, defecting Grunts, equipment, food, repair ships and try to escape amongst other objectives. At one point I had a pretty rad idea, what if you could change injured troops into Prometheans and they still retain there minds?
No joke when you asked what game I would make my first thought was Flood horror/Survival. Then you said it. Man wouldn't that be great. The gruesome nature of the flood with graphics of today would make for an absolutely bone chilling experience. At the very least I would like a mission in infinite that provided a flood horror aspect.
There is a Halo fan game about surviving the flood. It's not complete yet, but what the devs are planning to do is pretty kick-ass. The name is "Branching Sickness", and it's a flood survival horror game about a lone marine going through procedurally generated flood-infested tunnels and rooms, and fighting new procedurally generated flood-forms that accompany the ones we already have seen in prior games. Not much info on it at the moment, but we do have a pre-alpha video of an assault rifle being fired at a few of those flood "bubble" nests and a giant, procedurally generated flood form with six legs. I'm not kidding about this
So glad I got to work on I01 back in the day! Made one of the older test maps that looked similar to Valhalla, looking back at how long ago it was, it was kind of a trash map, but regardless, working with the team was a great experience! Really cool to see how far they've come and how much love and traction the project has picked up
Man, I'd love to see a horror based fangame. Like, imagine this. You play as a marine in Voi, on earth near the crash sight of where the Flood land on earth. It's you, surviving for god knows how long, avoiding combat where possible with limited ammunition, all the while dodging and sometimes fighting Covenant squads and occasionally watching them, or your own fellow marines turn into the flood. All with a build up to a hope of escape, and all with friendlies on the radio telling you they will come to evac you, only to live out your last moments looking up as the Covenant begin to glass Africa, with the realization that help is not coming. You are to die there, after everything you went through to survive.
This seems a bit... To sad, and worthless. If the main character had a needed role for the humanity in the fight or at least if it had multiple ends including a good one than it would be great!

Don't forget the honorable mention, Spartan Firefight! It's one of the coolest mobile games I've ever played and there's so many different game modes and armor combinations. Flood Survival is my favorite by far.
If I were to make my own Halo game, it would be taking inspiration from the first two Halo games as they are my favorite in the series. I’d want the weapons to be balanced and be useful in their own ways. I’d want to have a big weapon and enemy sandbox. I’d want to be able to play as an elite again in the campaign and have you fight heretics and humans. I’d also want to play as an ODST in the campaign as the main character. Maybe the story could be about the humans and heretics working together against the covenant before the events of Halo 2.
I would really like a pelican pilot game.You do not know how bad I want to fly one.You’d get missions to deliver armor and extract survivors.Or you could drop off a squad and then provide fire support.It’d just be cool

I want to see a halo survival game designed like an open world version of ce. Except perhaps you aren't a spartan, or your armor is severely damaged and so you aren't a super soldier anymore. But you're crashed on this planet and have to survive against its wilderness and uncover forerunner secrets. I'd have it play a lot like subnautica, with you exploring and getting new tech for scanning wreckage and finding blueprints.
I’d make a game based around the spartan III headhunters. I’d make it a coop stealth game with the story set just before the fall of reach. I think the headhunters are a really interesting part of halo lore which, in my opinion, we haven’t seen enough of
I'd make a sort of Covenant battle royal where 100 Heretic Elites are dropped down in pods battle on a planet's deserted Island with a few crashed ships here and there. You can even choose your own armour too so you can battle in your favourite style. I think I would call this game The Unholy Skirmish.
I would make a game about the events happening during halo 3. Like the covonant war between them and Atriox. You would play a standered marine, who trained with Johnson, that you could design, and you eventually you get sent to the battle for the ark. Then you also would play a standered elite, or mabey brute, i haven't decided, and you would see the struggles the covonant went through to stop Atriox but failed. I would try to explain, probably in the end cutscene, what happened to the brutes after halo 3. I would keep the old art style, old music and the same basic design of the origanals. It would be called halo secret wars.

Could you imagine fighting covenant forces (brutes, skirmishers, jackals, elites, etc) having all of the enemies have their buff to how they react in the books. Then boom a flood break out and you have to figure out what happened and how to get out. The forest becomes more and flood covered and enemy becomes harder and smarter to fight against as the flood forces become stronger. It would be a nice online/couch multiplayer game. Shit now that I think about it. I might as well break off and create my own game lol
Id make a open world game about a unsc populating plannets with bases and obviously will have multiple missions per planet and you the player gets to build the bases from scratch no cookie cut bases(bases that all look the same)

If I could make a halo game, it would be an X-com like game. And in that game, you can play as four factions: UNSC, the Covenant, the flood, and the Fore runners, each with their own units, vehicles, and campaign.

I'm making a Roblox fangame about Epsilon Eridani system (Reach's star system) and was wondering if it would get copyright striked and taken down? Even if I put something like "this is purely fanmade, all rights go to 343 Industries and Bungie"?
The one downside to the fan games is that they from a legal standpoint have no ground to stand on as in this case they used Microsoft IP and do from my understanding violate copyright law as well as most likely not having the rights to the IP. And while yes Microsoft does have a guideline, that doesn't stop them from taking the fan made games down.
You should look into halo solitude: reborn! It’s like a demake of halo for the psp. It’s mostly inspired by halo ce but has items from halo 2 and a map from halo 3. If I made my own Halo fangame, I’d definitely go back to the ODSTs as the main characters. As far as plot goes, I’d make it related to the Insurrection prior to First Contact at Harvest. I’m completely inexperienced with coding, but story is something I can do (and I’m trying to learn how to compose music, as well). If not a game, I’d at least write a fan story with the same premise.

Actually I've been thinking a lot about Halo spin-off games recently because my brother is been getting back into Halo. Me and my friend have been toying with the idea of creating a sort of Halo template where you can play Standalone Halo missions almost like the battlefield 1 campaign favorite of our ideas so far is called the hunt where you are a marine Squad trapped in a huge Dark Forest trying to survive against a big pack of brutes that is hunting you and wants to eat you with horror survival elements grouped in there and its own elements of Halo. Love the videos man keep it up I'm so excited for Halo infinite!!

My concept of halo fan game is actually an alternative universe where the military separated like a space civil war between mercenary companies, militias and the covenant and its clans and factions supporting or going against specific factions as it also disbands. It would see the focus on oni becoming a privately owned company selling the ability to make spartans out of your soldiers but discontinuing making them for the unsc specifically. You would choose a faction and start out as a grunt and level up and make specifications on what kinda soldier you would be and you would have to buy your equipment helms, armor, specs, guns, attachments for guns and armor and vehicles. You would eventually either reach to becoming a spartan or just an extremely decorated and or heavily kitted out soldier in the specifications you chose (sniper, heavy arms, light arms, stealth, demolitions etc.) .If you spec into specific categories your armor choices change like specific versions of unsc or covenant equipment thats been stolen like odst equipment or any of their items. The battlefields would be large like battlefield the game and would probably play like so. Some human factions would probably use equipment mixed with covenant tech. You can have multiple characters and everytime you complete challenges or objectives or kills you gain currency that would further training experience or buyable spartan upgrades. Id love to see super lethal odst's go up against each other on random planets.
I know this video is a year old but I e been thinking about this and I would definitely make a CE inspired game set completely on a halo ring. If it were to be game accurate it would probably take place in between 3 and 4 when the UNSC were finding the remaining halo rings. It would focus heavily on sandbox elements and have that classic arena gameplay. I was always captivated by the ancient mysteries of the forerunners and always dreamed of being able to explore each of their installations

I remember the time I had played Halo 3 ODST before it was officially on the PC. This was YEARS ago. Possibly after the Halo 3 ODST official release on Xbox 360.
I'd want a campaign adaptation of the fall of reach novel. You would begin as John in his youth when he meets Halsey with the coin flip, then being taken. You'd start super vulnerable and need to rely heavily on stealth and positioning as you fight insurrectionists. As you progress through the story, you become more and more powerful, until eventually you're a full on spartan, and you're fighting on Reach. The gameplay in those final missions would have gameplay inspired by Halo 3 (YES WITH DUEL WELDING!!), and with levels as wide and open as CE. Also, I'd like it to have a squad system inspired by Republic Commando as you lead Blue Team. Of course, the game would end with Master Chief being put into Cryo Sleep. (You could also introduce some sort of skill tree for minor things such as weapon handling, stamina, health etc. I'm not entirely sure about this but it could be interesting. I'd also like to see armor abilities unlocked through some sort of progression system throughout the game)
I actually do have a halo game idea, and if anyone wants to take it and make it then by all means please do. But I thought of a game called Project Haven, or The Haven Project. "The UNSC is building/deploying a massive impenetrable defense array around one of their worlds. But the AI stationed to monitor and control the array has gone awry. Once the array was finished it trapped the inhabitants of the world it was meant to protect, keeping them stuck on the surface. The UNSC fleet stationed with the array was the first thing to be attacked, being completely decimated. But luckily a single spartan (or odst if that's what you choose if you decide to make this game) makes it off the ship and slips past the array in the debris. The array is not yet fully mobilized, so its up to the spartan (you) to get back up there and find a way to either destroy it, or disable the AI deep within the array. The enemies are mass produced mechanical spartans dropped from high orbit, being deployed to hunt and destroy any surviving UNSC from the fleet or stationed on world. And to suppress the human populace. If the array is able to fully mobilize in time, then this world and its people will be lost forever with no hope of rescue from outside."
Yeah the spec requirements on some of these, especially spv3 are higher than those of the official games plus I don't see any benefit to 343 if they did this because it's likely that the developers would have continued working without pay anyway so hiring them would just waste money

I once had a nightmare where I was a lone ODST that was being hunted by Brutes in the night. That was so terrifying that I've wanted a realistic halo action game as a non-spartan character ever since. I'm learning Unreal and C++ and i might take a crack at it one day
I would make a Halo RPG built like Skyrim. Each race tells a different story that intertwines and connects with the main plot. Imagine a world that never really developed technology, and is seen as a 17th-18th Century timeframe, when two massive former Covenant ships crash land upon it, awaking ancient Forerunner Sentinels buried deep within.

I saw the thumbnail for this was Halo Zero and instantly felt nostalgia. I remembered the imagery, I remember playing the game back in 2005, but I couldn't remember what it was called. I'd make a Halo 2/3 MLG settings with no advanced movement, no abilities, no sprint, I'd keep button combos, I'd keep the crouch jumps on maps, and make it BR start, always. Make it super competitive and have skilled ranks and exp ranks, clan matches that are ranked, leader boards in game, friends list in game like halo 2 had, mcc sucks on the friends list, it disappeares a lot

I'm making a Roblox fangame about Epsilon Eridani system (Reach's star system) and was wondering if it would get copyright striked and taken down?
Even if I put something like "this is purely fanmade, all rights go to 343 Industries and Bungie"?

The one downside to the fan games is that they from a legal standpoint have no ground to stand on as in this case they used Microsoft IP and do from my understanding violate copyright law as well as most likely not having the rights to the IP. And while yes Microsoft does have a guideline, that doesn't stop them from taking the fan made games down.

You should look into halo solitude: reborn! It’s like a demake of halo for the psp. It’s mostly inspired by halo ce but has items from halo 2 and a map from halo 3. Sadly there is no download available for the game and it hasn’t have an update since January 2018, however if there is a new wave of interest the developer might release the current build. here’s a link to the game.

The issue is that it isn't a fan game. It's the beta for an official product that is now supported and managed by fans.

Yeah it didn't meet the criteria that I set at the start, but I did love halo online and it was a lot of fun!

If I made my own Halo fangame, I’d definitely go back to the ODSTs as the main characters. As far as plot goes, I’d make it related to the Insurrection prior to First Contact at Harvest. I’m completely inexperienced with coding, but story is something I can do (and I’m trying to learn how to compose music, as well). If not a game, I’d at least write a fan story with the same premise.

I felt like Halo 4 was a good mix of the classic designs and modern ones. I haven't played 5, but I heard 343 made too many design changes with that game.

Actually I've been thinking a lot about Halo spin-off games recently because my brother is been getting back into Halo. Me and my friend have been toying with the idea of creating a sort of Halo template where you can play Standalone Halo missions almost like the battlefield 1 campaign favorite of our ideas so far is called the hunt where you are a marine Squad trapped in a huge Dark Forest trying to survive against a big pack of brutes that is hunting you and wants to eat you with horror survival elements grouped in there and its own elements of Halo.

My concept of halo fan game is actually an alternative universe where the military separated like a space civil war between mercenary companies, militias and the covenant and its clans and factions supporting or going against specific factions as it also disbands. It would see the focus on oni becoming a privately owned company selling the ability to make spartans out of your soldiers but discontinuing making them for the unsc specifically. You would choose a faction and start out as a grunt and level up and make specifications on what kinda soldier you would be and you would have to buy your equipment helms, armor, specs, guns, attachments for guns and armor and vehicles. You would eventually either reach to becoming a spartan or just an extremely decorated and or heavily kitted out soldier in the specifications you chose (sniper, heavy arms, light arms, stealth, demolitions etc.)
.If you spec into specific categories your armor choices change like specific versions of unsc or covenant equipment thats been stolen like odst equipment or any of their items. The battlefields would be large like battlefield the game and would probably play like so. Some human factions would probably use equipment mixed with covenant tech.
You can have multiple characters and everytime you complete challenges or objectives or kills you gain currency that would further training experience or buyable spartan upgrades.
Id love to see super lethal odst's go up against each other on random planets.
I know this video is a year old but I e been thinking about this and I would definitely make a CE inspired game set completely on a halo ring. If it were to be game accurate it would probably take place in between 3 and 4 when the UNSC were finding the remaining halo rings. It would focus heavily on sandbox elements and have that classic arena gameplay. I was always captivated by the ancient mysteries of the forerunners and always dreamed of being able to explore each of their installations

I remember the time I had played Halo 3 ODST before it was officially on the PC. This was YEARS ago. Possibly after the Halo 3 ODST official release on Xbox 360.

I'd want a campaign adaptation of the fall of reach novel.
You would begin as John in his youth when he meets Halsey with the coin flip, then being taken. You'd start super vulnerable and need to rely heavily on stealth and positioning as you fight insurrectionists.
As you progress through the story, you become more and more powerful, until eventually you're a full on spartan, and you're fighting on Reach. The gameplay in those final missions would have gameplay inspired by Halo 3 (YES WITH DUEL WELDING!!), and with levels as wide and open as CE.
Also, I'd like it to have a squad system inspired by Republic Commando as you lead Blue Team.
Of course, the game would end with Master Chief being put into Cryo Sleep.
(You could also introduce some sort of skill tree for minor things such as weapon handling, stamina, health etc. I'm not entirely sure about this but it could be interesting. I'd also like to see armor abilities unlocked through some sort of progression system throughout the game)
I actually do have a halo game idea, and if anyone wants to take it and make it then by all means please do. But I thought of a game called Project Haven, or The Haven Project. "The UNSC is building/deploying a massive impenetrable defense array around one of their worlds. But the AI stationed to monitor and control the array has gone awry. Once the array was finished it trapped the inhabitants of the world it was meant to protect, keeping them stuck on the surface. The UNSC fleet stationed with the array was the first thing to be attacked, being completely decimated. But luckily a single spartan (or odst if that's what you choose if you decide to make this game) makes it off the ship and slips past the array in the debris. The array is not yet fully mobilized, so its up to the spartan (you) to get back up there and find a way to either destroy it, or disable the AI deep within the array. The enemies are mass produced mechanical spartans dropped from high orbit, being deployed to hunt and destroy any surviving UNSC from the fleet or stationed on world. And to suppress the human populace. If the array is able to fully mobilize in time, then this world and its people will be lost forever with no hope of rescue from outside."
343 should hire these guys and make it Free so people with lower spec on PC, or couldn't afford the actual games can try and have fun
How does making it free affect it's minimum specs?
Yeah the spec requirements on some of these, especially spv3 are higher than those of the official games plus I don't see any benefit to 343 if they did this because it's likely that the developers would have continued working without pay anyway so hiring them would just waste money

Arma 3 Operation Trebuchet is amazing also. If you like military simulators that's an awesome Halo conversion mod for that game.

You saying Flood Survival game made me think. A game in the same style of Killing Floor 2 or something like that, wave based survival, but the enemies are the flood and your team is ODST Soldiers. I'd definitely pay money for that

I once had a nightmare where I was a lone ODST that was being hunted by Brutes in the night. That was so terrifying that I've wanted a realistic halo action game as a non-spartan character ever since. I'm learning Unreal and C++ and i might take a crack at it one day

I would make a Halo RPG built like Skyrim. Each race tells a different story that intertwines and connects with the main plot. Imagine a world that never really developed technology, and is seen as a 17th-18th Century timeframe, when two massive former Covenant ships crash land upon it, awaking ancient Forerunner Sentinels buried deep within.

I saw the thumbnail for this was Halo Zero and instantly felt nostalgia. I remembered the imagery, I remember playing the game back in 2005, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Thanks for reminding me that game happened. Had a lot of fun with it. The game even had a multiplayer mode if I recall correctly.

This video is great, and everything looks so good, thanks for showing the games, and for your answer, i am actually making a halo fan game about nicole, the spartan that was on dead or alive 4, she's returning from another universe while cortana is controlling the galaxy, is about exploration on procedurally generated worlds, a classic trilogy style campaign and a 1v1 pvp mode invasion but every player controls his army in a classic battlefront style , is for android and i hope i could finish it in these days of quarantine, but for now i'm making original models, since the game was kinda ready from long ago, but with models from other halo games, and i don't have any ost or sfx

I'd make a Halo 2/3 MLG settings with no advanced movement, no abilities, no sprint, I'd keep button combos, I'd keep the crouch jumps on maps, and make it BR start, always. Make it super competitive and have skilled ranks and exp ranks, clan matches that are ranked, leader boards in game, friends list in game like halo 2 had, mcc sucks on the friends list, it disappeares a lot
