It's crazy how scott on tape visits these famous locations, not realizing that he himself has become a famous legend! Keep up the good work buddy, you are appreciated 👊
I spent the first 30 years of my life in Pflugerville, TX. My mom graduated from the high school. So did my husband (I was homeschooled in HS). My great aunt taught in the one-room schoolhouse. I know that area better than I know where I live now. I was 10 years old when What’s Eating Gilbert Grape was filmed. We lived so close that we saw the smoke from the house fire and drove over to make sure it wasn’t anyone we knew in trouble. We got there and the road was blocked off and we quickly realized it was a movie set. We sat and watched it burn. I remember being sad that they were burning an old house I was used to passing by. Now, again, I was only 10, so my memory could be mixed up about if it actually burned all the way to the ground, but I’m almost 100% sure it did and can check with my mom (who drove us there) to confirm. Also, just behind the woods I ran around in was The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. I regularly ate BBQ and had family get-togethers at Cele Store where several movies filmed scenes. I didn’t realize as a child that the very fields I grew up in were so scenic that Hollywood traveled there even for short shots. It just was home to me. I miss it. Anyway, thanks for the walk down memory lane!! ❤ (For reference, the house was on Hodde Lane and I lived on Weiss, just over a hill. Nothing looks the same there anymore. It used to be nothing but fields and farmhouses. But the roads are still there to reference. 😊 My family only just moved from my childhood home a few years ago as everything grew up around them.)
Glad people like you exist. I love that movie too. Just rewatched it after almost 20 years. Thanks for being a fan of the film and showing me how the area looks today.
I remember how shocked I was finding out at the time the little kid that played Arnie (we now know Leo DiCaprio) was not special needs. Amazing actor. PS - Darlene Cates aka 'Momma' died in 2017 in Texas, next time you're there, you should visit her grave?
SCOTT ON TAPE even noticed youve visited my home town of dearborn !! i went to high school in henry ford museum/greenfield village :) keep up the great videos man, love seeing all the places youve vistited !
😄 My gosh i dig ur Personality, seeing this post made my night, afternoon all over again. Best movie ever with him being young, ALL thow WE ALL know he is a Damn Stunning Actor. They say for maybelline Maybe She is born with it, NO Decaprio was Born with it. 🤘 Great post My Friend. 💋
This is where we get to meet a young yet polished actor Leonardo DiCaprio. His portrayal of a challenged, sweet loving younger brother to that of a angst ridden older brother played by an amazing young Johnny Depp was a truly precious story of a family learning to deal and adapt to life, while becoming dependent on eachothers love. And moving forward with the beautiful gentle stranger coming into town " Becky " played by Juliet Lewis. Immediately you are drawn into this families world. A MUST SEE. Love you Mama Grape RIP💐🍇🏡
@@SCOTTONTAPE Thank you so very much. The way I write is bringing myself back to the way I felt personally at that particular time. Remembering even the smallest line or actual piece of scenery tying the character to the vulnerability or visualization of connection to the way a actor/ actress owns their part/ character. Not being able to identify they are acting at all it just flows very easily. A tuff job. But I believe if the actor really, genuinely loves the craft, it is not a career but a part of their soul. 🌹🎭💞
I'm from Iowa loved this movie. I looked up the real filming location years ago but it does resemble a lot of Iowa towns. You have some interesting videos
My favorite movie i cry everytime watching how powerful it is.i dont think movies ever die.ty u are amazing plz never stop showing these videos.💛🌟🌟💛just the way gilbert carried himself his mannerizms i been told to have those.huge applaud to you forever. We love u gilbert grape love all amazing soulz in movie that will last forever.
Scott I love your videos.. my go to viewing while on breaks from the hospital I work in and watch a couple at a time and it’s great just seeing these places I have seen in films, particularly love the Reality Bites ones and lost boys, F13 etc but also the lesser known film I’ve liked over the years like Gilbert and stuff, also a shout out for the reservoir dogs one!.. please do some more Tarantino films locations.. anyway thanks for these.. all the best to your channel cause it’s brilliant.
Love that show " what's eating Gilbert Grape... and I had asked Leonard DiCaprio about that house, yes it was burnt to the ground... love water towers and the dogs scared me... lol
Fun Fact: If you look directly South-East of the driveway where the Grapes family house was, you'll see 2 barns and a house in a distance about a mile away, that is the house where they filmed Secondhand Lions and the Farm scene in Transformers 4. Literally 1 mile southeast from the Grape home, you can see it in most shots, even walk to it from their house across the fields.
Excellent as always fella strangely I've never heard of this film with such big names in will have to look this up and give a watch what's the general synopsis?
Sorry Scott, I have to tell you, I can’t never forget, while you sing “bidi bidi bom bom” on the last videos of Selena.. I think it’s one month that I have this refrain inside the head because of you. 😄 anyway great video as always 👏🏻
Oh yay I love this movie!!! One of my favorites! I also just thought about the movie Pretty in Pink, I would love to see the filming locations for that movie as well, don’t know if you also have done The Breakfast Club too. I love that this location is near where I live in Austin. I just wasn’t living here at the time the actual movie was filmed. Love everything you do Scott, and the Hounds From Hell was just a very nice cherry on top of another great video🥰
Not sure if you are going to see this comment Scotty. After watching this video I wanted to see the movie. I bought the dvd but watched the movie today. Loved it and came back to the video to enjoy looking at the locations. It was really cool. Like you I love water towers and windmills and used to look out for them when I was touring the US. Alligators no. Pretty scary. Anyway thanks again. I enjoyed watching the movie and its location ❤️🤗✌🏼💕
The ice cream shop WAS located across the grocery store and NOT in Lockhart like you mentioned. I drove over to Manor Tx a few years ago and just the slab foundation was left of the ice cream shop. Now that's gone too. Thanks for your videos..
Kool Raul Films There’s a small Chinese restaurant there now, which you’ll see in my video here soon. The only location filmed in Lockhart is the “police station” Arnie gets released from toward the end of the film. We were given incorrect information, prior to filming this.
Hey man you’re right that’s why I showed it across from the grocery store , I can’t believe I mentioned Lockhart I was thinking of something else and I didn’t notice this slip up when I edited it. It was across from the grocery store like you said . Whoops! Thanks for watching man!
This was the first movie and first time I'd ever heard of Leonardo DiCaprio and I didn't really know who he was and I thought that this person really was this way, LOL. I really like this movie a whole lot.
The water tower in Selkirk, Manitoba is a metal cylinder tube with a metal ball on top. The way up is a circular staircase inside the tube. I think it could still be the tallest building in town or at least in the top 3.
Just wondering if you could find where they filmed secret window? I love the cabin and the scenery and little town is so cute. I'm just wondering if it's really a real place or not.
What a great video. I thought they actually burned down the house in the film, I didn’t realize people actually lived in it afterwards. Did you ever find out the truth?!
One of my all time favorite movies. Such a great movie on so many levels.
I love Leonardo in this movie! It was his first , I think. Anyway- shows his future "acting Chops" 🤗🤗
@@kotysuefawcett6538 Not his first. He did several movies before this one, including a film with Robert De Niro.

I believe Leo should've won an Oscar for his role in this movie. Absolutely perfect 👌

The fence at the water tower was taken down each day for filming and put back up each evening.
My girlfriend was Juliette's stand in during the filming. She said Leonardo was bossy to his mother behind the scenes
