How do you deal with needles gumming up when sewing over basting tape ? Because the needle will gum up after sewing few stitches!!!!

I noticed what seems to be a mistake in the fabric measurement. At 4:50 in the video. Intead of 4 1/2 ", You would need 9" of additional fabric to measure 3x 1 1/2" hems. I noticed it when I saw Deb measured 2x 3"spaces between valance and the main.

    CANOPY SIZE
    113”X242”
Hello, I have an old Arquati retractable awning. The length of the frame:
    A-Side 1: 242”
    B-Side 2: 113”
The original canopy was 200”X120” and had six panels sewn together. I don’t know how long the original fabric was on but it lasted about 3 years with me repairing it. It might’ve been over 10 years old. My question is that I want to sew a new cover after I replace the second Amazon 10’X20’(not near the ordered size) Aleko camper canopy which last about two years before it starts to wear. I saved the old fabric to make toolbox covers and for training before purchasing your fabric.
Would it be better to get smaller sections to increase the strength against the elements like wind and rain or less sections? I haven’t measured the original seams but I’m not sure which one to pick to increase the strength.
I have the Janome HD1000 industrial sewing machine which might be an issue when sewing over 10’ or more. I watched your UA-cam videos and learned a lot.
What would be your suggestion, no matter what I will not return the items when purchased. Thanks Reggie

Hi Reg, If you use a Sunbrella Marine Grade fabric you should get at least 10 years of life from the new awning fabric. I would build it to the original size 113 inch projection and 242 inch width. If your sewing machine can sew about 5 to 6 layers of blue jean material then you should be able to sew this Sunbrella Marine Grade fabric. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I had to remove my retractable awning for a roof replacement. I have reinstalled it and would like to purchase a premade retractable awning shade from your company. At this moment I have too many other projects that I don’t have the space or time to sew a the panels together. Area “A” of the roller is: 242” with 1/4” space between the ends. Area “B”of the opening distance of the shade is 120.” I can limit the distance the shade travels. I want to purchase a solid Coffee Brown shade. Thank you
