Thousands of homeowners would like to shade their patio from the sun. But wouldn’t it be nice if they didn’t have to block their view ? With a retractable awning, they don’t have too. Retractable awnings give you sun when you want it and shade when you need it, providing all of the homeowners needs.
The awning we installed was made by Sunesta. The awning is fabric and it’s made of acrylic fiber. The color of the awning is dyed into the fabric and spun into the yarn. The yarn is then woven into fabric. Because of this process, the fabric has a five year guarantee. The company takes these extra steps to prevent fading because fading is the number one concern of homeowners.
Bad weather can also wreak havoc on awnings. That’s why they are retractable, so the homeowner can roll the awning up when the weather gets bad. By the way, there’s a variety of ways for a homeowner to retract the awning. They can choose a manual handle, a motorized switch or a remote control. If the power ever goes out, it also comes with a manual handle so the homeowner never has to worry about not being able to retract the awning. The electric switch is usually attached to the wall outside. It’s not hardwired, but you can call an electrician to hard wire it for you if you desire.
Homeowners can also buy wind sensors that automatically close the motorized awnings if the wind gets too high.
Installers usually hang awnings right on the wall of the house. But they can also be attached to the roof or the soffit, or overhang of the house. Installers say it’s best to attach the awning to the soffit so it can be protected from the elements when it’s rolled up.
The awning weighs 160 pounds so it takes four aluminum brackets to hold it in place. The brackets are always attached to the studs to give the awning extra support. The good thing about the retractable awning is there aren’t any posts to install. The awning has arms that are attached to it and those arms provide all of the extra support for the awning when it’s fully extended.

Same question "We never got to see it fully extended so we could see how much it bows down toward the ground.
The synchronized drilling at 2:52 was a nice touch! 😄
i realize Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
We never got to see it fully extended so we could see how much it bows down toward the ground.
True. I'm just in the process of putting one together (sadly it arrived as a DIY kit!) but it has some bolts that can be adjusted to alter the angle of drop. It shouldn't be too horizontal in case it puddles rain. An angle of at least 10 degrees down is recommended. Next fine day I will be up ladders with two relatives to drill big holes, fit the support brackets and fasten on the awning to them. It is a daunting prospect! But I am going to UA-cam it all so others can benefit from my (not too many I hope) mistakes!
The plugin outlet is hilarious.
This feels like it's from the 90s.
i thought the same thing! 4k and HD were a thing on 2020, so I feel like I am back in 1994 watching a 1am infomercial on a local TV station
👍👍👍
I am considering a retractable awning but I think that i would have to have it professionally installed.
You don't need a professional to install it. I just did it over the weekend by myself. It was very easy to install.
$2200 to install 4 brackets?
no, but to install a remote controlled awning lmao like ??
Think the cost of the awning is included in that 2200 that's why he's said "with labor" not 2200 for labor alone. So cost of the awning plus install was 2200
for 2200, does the purchaser get a complimentary reach around? 😁
13 foot hand crank new 220 $
I have $350 Dollars invested includes instalation 10x 20 purchased on kijiji want ads
So this awning is hanging off bolts in the wood beams? I would think this would loosen up just there from the bolt lol
My awning is remote with a high wind detecter. Sometimes a gust of wind makes the awning invert and can also be noisy (rattly). I was thinking if it had several slits top to bottom, the wind could escape easily and stop the rattle noise and the inverting... is this a done thing ?
cant believe they wasted all this video and didng show the awning fully extended lol😅😅😅
Over 2k for that? 😂 Was that fully extended? Didn't look like it and makes me wonder why not shown. Hard pass.
How much money would we be saving installing ourselves?
I have same 16x12 sized. What's on the video?
How do you stop the awning from running our too far?
I'm just about to fit one (see my comment above). It seems like the extending arms will only let it go so far. I guess the motor detects the end point somehow and cuts out. Or else it is on a timer.
torque detection on the motor stops it.
Where can I buy the wall switch, Receiver, and remote you used in this installation
I have an Aristocrat awning. 2 guys installed new arms yesterday. Now the full cassette won't open to receive the arms. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Why didnt you extend it all the way? Shady
It bows down about 20d. I don’t know if any retractable awnings that extend straight out horizontally.
@@normajeanvas9532 yeah well that's not what I asked so thanks anyway
😂
@Second Lite well idont mean to extend it out straight. I just mean all the way. Was that as far as it goes in the video? Cause if it is than I'm not interested. I surely don't expect it to extend out straight
Installation was 2200 dollars???? Wtf
What a rip $2200 off...$1500 labor??
Cost to buy now is 150$ and installation $1500, total cost $1650
@@mrmrjims3865 Only 150$ for that length of an electric awning? A real bargain. I just bought one online for £120 and it's manual and only 3m long, 2.5m extension. The installation cost is a killer even if it is two tradesmen for a hour or two. I could get four double glazed windows installed for that, units and labour.
Yes and he said two hours only
Can this Retractable Awning support hurricane?
..no...There is not an awning that withstand a hurricane, fabric, aluminum or wood. The advantage of this one is that it can be storage in case of a major storm.
If ylthe roof of your house can't support hurricane why would an awning?
@@welovemarbles7191 😂😂😂
I doubt any awning would withstand a hurricane..
An awning made of Kryptonite can withstand a tornado
Do you know the model number of the awning you guys installed????
What type of screws did they use in soffit to attach brackets??
I wondered that same thing. It's always the things you want to see that they don't show. It's like they were hiding the screws
Lag screws. That's the only possibility when you're screwing into wood (studs) and have no access to the top of the screw for a nut.
These are at Sams club for $250
What brand is recommended for soffit installation.
Hi how can I contact you pls help me I bought this didn’t work
India price
Do not buy this!! The arm cables rip in half with the slightest wind. Taking one off a house right now
that's what i was worry about, i have strong winds and that will break easy
Completely suck in the wind. Any gust of wind it's blown away. Total junk. I would do a pergola with a poly roof.
More like a retractable YAWNING 😴 #iamfunny
The arms are horrible, they bend on the joint and make the awning useless.
The fabric will go to the middle and cause your awning retractor "bar" to bend.
Poor video coverage
What that dumb or smart??
