Ours dont do this but our oven will sometimes set it off if we are cooking with it. Stuff at the bottom that has not been cleaned might smoke a little and since our detectors are photoelectric it will detect it very fast

Carbon monoxide I was talking about not smoke.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless odorless poisonous gas.
Burning stuff with particles in the air completely different. Smoke particles do not set up a carbon monoxide detector.
You can have lots of carbon monoxide with no smoke and you’ll never set off a smoke detector a lot of people have flu like symptoms or get headaches periodically from the continued small level low level exposures to carbon monoxide and they never smell anything

Again I will say don't know if poor air flow is a problem but having the wrong type of smoke alarms in your kitchen could make a difference please see the video s I enclosed in othreliance comments

This always happens in my house too. If I were to get it fixed or get new vents, what service/who services these kinds of things in my area?

I MAY HAVE explained the remdey above if any one is still reading please send this addtional video explaining why I goes of during ooking and not during smoldering fires ps did you know my former business consultant is on the 217 committee? Ps I am a private consultant and don't make money for the servicesmoke I provide so I will say i don't sell smoke alarms but think it's important for people to have all the facts : ua-cam.com/video/pnlkiZC0dd0/v-deo.htmlsi=XwJg7oTaaYNpUsWd actually I don't sell any type of fire equipment! I live in senior housing. I have a counter for my AF that happens to be against the wall next to the smoke alarm. I have been using it for a year without a problem. Just recently it has been going off when I'm just cooking a sweet potato. I did a deep clean of the AF this week. This is the only way I cook, in the summer time, the oven makes the apartment too hot. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for any help you can give.

Are the blades of the fan dirty? Is it the squirrel cage type fan?
Has a bird, a squirrel built a nest in the exhaust pipe
Where the exhaust pipe exits the house did they put a fine mesh screen to keep our bugs ,
But because the Find My screen is so fine, he got clogged with grease and collected dust, and got thick on the screen reducing the size of the openings . Restricting airflow.
Is there some sort of heating and air conditioning that possibly has a leak in the ducting when you turned on it is sucking air out of the house, making it negative pressure like a vacuum cleaner and expelling the inside air, leaking part of it outside a hallway outside the building under a crawlspace or located in a ceiling or roof attic.

If mine is constantly going off and I’d like to fix my vents and adjust the hood, who/what services should I google in my area?

Try to find somebody with I guess good yelp ratings but if you need something fixed like your hood bad airflow trying to find somebody good and knows what they’re doing cost money
The cheap handyman who just throws it in anyway he can to make it turn on and just pull a little bit those kind of guys are a A dime a dozen.
Just because somebody can install a fan and make it turn on doesn’t make them a carpenter or a general contractor or even a good handyman
I actually have to read the instructions and recommendations on the size of the ducting and staying away from 90° turns if they can and sometimes even adding a booster fan in the ductwork

@@coldfinger459sub0 I’m sorry I was trying to ask what type or profession can help me fix this at my house. Like Electricians fix wiring, plumbers fix pipes, who fixes this?

    • @coldfinger459sub0

@@AVMcGee multiple professions have the capability of installing a overhead hood on a stove correctly.
It comes down to the individual if they actually read the manual installation instructions correctly and have the patience to read the book from front to rear on the ducting requirements.
Electrician can do this but unfortunately do not understand the airflow usually they might read the book and get the size of the ducting correct but then accidentally put two 90° fittings one out of the hood and one immediately behind a wall which would greatly restrict the flow of air.
A plumber some can also possibly install this same with a general contractor.
It comes down to precisely reading the limitations on the instruction manual.
Another problem is individuals usually purchase too small of a exhaust hood in the front edge that would let’s say hit your for head is recessed too far back away from the front burner in the front of the range.
Do you need a hood that at least comes within 6 inches of the front face of your range.
Almost being flush with the face would be better but some people have a problem with your head hitting if it’s too low.
The range hood should extend rule of thumb on average at least even but should be about 4 inches overhang to the left and the right of the range.
Reading the instruction manuals they may say it has a limit of 25 feet of ductwork just for example. Anything longer will start greatly reducing it’s output and that’s for straight ductwork maybe including one 90° angle
Every time a 90° angle is put into the ductwork to make a turn it may reduce the flow of air by roughly 15%
Under no circumstances should a 90° angle comes directly out of the top of the hood attachment directly through the wall and then immediately into another 90° angle going to the left or right this may reduce the airflow possibly up to 30 to 40% if this is done.
As a example in instructions let’s pretend your manufacturer says use a 6 inch size duct
If you have several angles turns 45 to 90° to go through to make it out the wall then the contractor may wanna step up the size of the ductwork to7 inch or 8 inch. This will help reduce the friction loss of the airflow going around corners and Bends.
In extreme cases where they just cannot follow all those rules and the airflow is very restrictive than a booster fan may need to be installed somewhere in the middle of the ductwork that is equal to or a little greater than the CFM rating of the exhaust fan hood.
This will help get up and boost the airflow.
One of the biggest mistakes people make buying the cheapest range hood the smallest that will fit that has only one fan and one opening in the bottom of the hood in the middle to suck up the exhaust fumes.
Should always buy the exhaust hood that has at least two openings with fans to remove the exhaust.
So almost any trade can correctly install depending on the individual to actually read the instruction manual and fully understand and comprehend the airflow requirements.
I did a video probably a year earlier on exhaust ductwork but I installed myself showing after I was finish the section was so powerful because of the correct ductwork behind the wall that it could suck up and hold a heavy thick big porcelain IKEA plate and suck it up to the fan and hold it there.

Yes, the same kind of discrepancies and differences in carbon monoxide meters very greatly
Actually, with carbon monoxide detectors, the ones that are UL listed that are approved by our governments are the ones that will let you get sick or die
The ultra high sensitivity, carbon monoxide detectors that are recommended for old people, pregnant women and people with respiratory diseases that trigger and actually measure in parts per million. Those are the good ones, but they don’t have the UL government mandate to be put into residence.
As for fire alarms, depending on the sensor technology, yes some fire alarms are more sensitive to the smoldering type of particles from a smoldering non-flame producing fire
While other sensors are triggered by the flame type of particulate and gases, put off by flaming fires.
When you’re going for your HVAC degree in your 2 1/2 year course, carbon monoxide and fire, alarms types and uses and design of components is part of your learning lesson. Some of the required classes..

I wanted to major in fire protection but had trouble taking classes did not know they cover that in hvac classes but I have done year of research in smoke alarms I find it is often not explain that the most common type of smoke alarm the ionization does not easily pick up smoldering fires the Organization which one of my Consultants is a Member of The North Eastern Ohio fire prevention association made a videon on gma explaing the results of full scale smoke alarm testing a simialr test was able to be duplicated by my former bussiness consultant on the UL 217 commitee actaully he contribued to one of the first legislations for photo electric only mandates

    • @coldfinger459sub0
      @coldfinger459sub0  8 місяців тому

@@Fredengle they should mandate the fire detectors have the capability with two sensors in them one that is better at picking up the flame clean, burning type fires, and the other sensor that is better at picking up smoldering fires.
Instead of mandating, one or the other .
Just like my ultrasensitive CO leak detectors in my house I have three of them that are ultra low sensitive. All three of them always pick up CO when we cook.
But the UL listed mandatory CO leak detector for homes and apartment buildings that we have in the house never picks up CO .
The government does not care about your health .
