Hi! Thanks for making a Mercedes Sosa video. I am from Bolivia and thanks to you I learn a lot of music. I want to ask you, please, to make a video of artists from my country, who have a beautiful voice and are little recognized internationally. For example, Enriqueta Ulloa and Zulma Yugar, two well-known singers in Bolivia, sing "Tonada para remedios" together, it is a beautiful song, traditional from the Bolivian valleys region. Also Esther Marisol, who sings along with "El Chaqueño Palavecino", an Argentine singer. Together they sing the very famous Bolivian huayno "Ojos azul", typical of the Andean region of Bolivia. From Esther Marisol I also recommend "La Flor de Sama", a "cueca" by Tarija, who sings along with Maritza Donaire. Thanks for reading
Her version of "dream on" just blew me away, i like it more than the original. after watching lots of her stuff, i think its the best song shes done, period.
Morgan James is such a powerful force live. I've seen her a couple of times in a small, intimate venue and when she opens way up, she blows the roof off the place.
This is great, wasn't expecting you to cover Morgan James, she's got such and incredible voice, it always gives me the shivers. I prefer her PMJ cover of Dream On over this one, and this one is so excellent in itself.
Her cover of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" is superb and IMO her best song I can find on UA-cam. She knows the innuendos made in the song are sexual and she delivers a stellar interpretation accordingly....so playful at various times. And it was her own cover....meaning not with PMJ.
When she went full classical in the 2nd bridge I lost it... this woman is criminally underrated. She’s like if Carole King and Pink had a baby. Her range is whatever she decides the song requires.
That was the first time I've heard Morgan James.. and when she got to the part where she drives it home and sings on top of her lungs for like 5-6 seconds uninterrupted I was "wait, that's illegal!". Absolutely masterful performance.
I might've mentioned it already, but I'm a HUGE Morgan James fan. I could get lost in her performances. So much emotion behind her vocals. She always seems to live the song and is completely invested in the emotions it evokes. One of my favourite examples is PMJ cover of Maroon 5's Maps. There's moments ("... and WHERE WERE YOU.. ")where you can see and feel anger emanating from her. From her voice, from her body, from her facial expressions. Absolutely incredible
Lyrical devotee, I really like that. Makes sense, I feel as though she's the only singer that I know of that gives every syllable and sound in every word their own time. Even when technique is being used, she hits the start and the end of every word in such a satisfying way.
Thank you, Beth. I've been listening to Morgan James for four years now and knew she was something very special the very first time I listened to her. I know NOTHING about music and when you explain what it is that Morgan does helps me to better understand why I love her so much. As you said in your reaction to Morgan's cover of Dream On, "Her voice is a hug." Thank you again.
Morgan and Scott did a short promotional session for PMJ at Paste Studios late in 2018. They did a version of "Sweet Child Of Mine" That showcased a lot of her technique, absolutely amazing and well worth a listen!
I love Morgan, I'm a huge fan since I've watched her do All about that bass with PMJ. Best thing about her is she is so down to earth. I've met her several times and have even seen her sing Soprano with symphonies as well.
Wow, that last section sounds like it would be so difficult to sing. It may not be the highest notes ever, but I feel like it's one of the Passaggio's or something. Singing it all open and belted like that, with those wide vowels… Incredible.
Still haven't done Blind Melon. Toes across the floor intimate and interactive is intense. Shannon Hoon had such a unique voice that it's a shame you haven't covered it yet.
Great song, exceptional cover, really good reaction. One of the things that makes me chuckle is how Morgan James has to keep her low cut top from opening up, about midway in the song. It suggests, that while as a guy I appreciate her blouse, perhaps a different top that doesn't have her needing to think about preventing a wardrobe malfunction mid song, might have been a better choice! As the consummate pro she manages to keep the top from showing more than she intended and still keep her focus on the song! lol
I love when she does "Human" which I wonder if that is where Dianna Ankudinova got her inspiration from.. because I do believe it predates Diana's performance.. I think. Great review and I am glad you chose her Morgan as well. I am a fan and she is amazing but doesn't get as much recognition as I feel she may deserve.
I love PMJ for how they take modern poppy tunes and sing them with their traditional, some call it retro, jazzy, sometimes crooney vibe. A lot of the times their covers sound better than the originals, though I'm not gonna point fingers and name specific examples. This one has me conflicted though. Yes, it is a beautiful version, one that I enjoy and appreciate very much. This Morgan James has a beautiful voice and uses it well, without getting flashy or loud. It's just a superbly executed cover that highlights (at least to me) the strength of the lyrics and the meaning of the song. So I would rate this on par, but not surpassing the Hozier original. PMJ are pretty consistent in terms of quality of their covers though. I mean they have to be, because they will always be compared to the originals, but the quality of their own take on it, with the retro vibe, combined with the quality of their performers makes them covering other people's songs not a Sin.
There are singers I consider "clean" singers, and ones I consider "dirty" (the tone of their voices, not their morality). Both have their benefits when done right. Morgan is one of my favorite clean-toned singers.
Great video! What a beautiful voice. I was thinking you could make a reaction of people on The Voice or America's got talent, there are so many amazing singers there and a lot of people love those shows so I think you could get a lot of views. And you can do like 3 or 5 in a row, I hope you consider it.

Awesome Beth! Morgan James is truly a musical genius. Please react to MJ cover of Maps by Maroon 5. Truly unbelievable its so good. Its her song now! Love your show!
Please react to Sleep Token's song "Blood Sport (from the room below)". The "room below" version is the most pure display of the vocalist's emotion and power, I think you'd fall in love!
You need to see this song !! There are 2 Brazilian singers, Ana Carolina and Seu Jorge in a version of The Blower's Daughter. Two incredible voices, super different but that combine perfectly. Could you react to Nahuel Pennisi please? He's a blind singer of Argentina, who learnt to play guitar by himself, just listening to the sounds, helped by his absolute pitch.
Sleep Token just released a piano and vocal version of "Bloodsport" (the room below version) and it is hauntingly beautiful, please can you react to it, I'd love to hear how you break down his voice 😍
I have a serious question to ask… How come none of these vocal coaches have ever reacted to any Allen Stone stuff? An artist with a voice like hers deserves world wide stardom and nothing less.
I've seen her live, she's amazing!!!
I was fortunate enough to catch Morgan doing this live with Post Modern.
Amazing
I've been a devoted fan ever since
Her version of "dream on" just blew me away, i like it more than the original. after watching lots of her stuff, i think its the best song shes done, period.

Tbh I love all her covers she has done with PMJ
Hey! I have already covered Dream On: ua-cam.com/video/J7z0GYeRch4/v-deo.html
I love how you truly appreciate the skill and talent of the vocalists you analyze....you are becoming my favorite person in the world...rawr.....
She and her husband (on guitar), have been putting out lots of content from home during lockdown. Check out her youtube channel.
When she went full classical in the 2nd bridge I lost it... this woman is criminally underrated. She’s like if Carole King and Pink had a baby. Her range is whatever she decides the song requires.
This is my favorite version of this song period. There's a whole climax construction and lots of dynamics. Just perfect.
That Morgan really sharpens her "knify" voice in our hearts and Beth looks proud bringing it to us! :P
"Maps" by Morgan James
That was the first time I've heard Morgan James.. and when she got to the part where she drives it home and sings on top of her lungs for like 5-6 seconds uninterrupted I was "wait, that's illegal!". Absolutely masterful performance.
@@veevoir Same, that performance is just amazing.
OMG, in that vídeo i'm melted
Beautiful performance, incredible strength and sweetness. Thank you Beth for sharing
One of the best singers of my 48 years. Combine that with her actual voice, and she is as near as perfect, as there is.
Morgan James + Take Me to Church = The. Single. Best. Cover. Of. Any. Song. EVER! Actually, better than the original. So glad you picked this one!!
I mean, there's Haley's Creep, and Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah... but it's definitely up there!
Lyrical devotee, I really like that. Makes sense, I feel as though she's the only singer that I know of that gives every syllable and sound in every word their own time. Even when technique is being used, she hits the start and the end of every word in such a satisfying way.
She's so amazing!!! They did a live version of "Who wants to love forever" at Paste magazine's UA-cam Channel, they let me speechless
This song got in to her and I fell for her voice instantly
Morgan and Scott did a short promotional session for PMJ at Paste Studios late in 2018. They did a version of "Sweet Child Of Mine" That showcased a lot of her technique, absolutely amazing and well worth a listen!
How did I miss this for 2 weeks. I love Morgan and have seen her live in concert.
I love Morgan, I'm a huge fan since I've watched her do All about that bass with PMJ. Best thing about her is she is so down to earth. I've met her several times and have even seen her sing Soprano with symphonies as well.
Morgan has such a powerful voice and also so much control
An incredible singer!

Maravilloso final tan maravilloso como el dulce 🍦👏👏🍀🍀
Love her every video more
This recording was done in one take....She is absolutely amazing!!
Her version of Barbie Girl with PMJ was also superb in both technical and theatrical performance.
"Sledgehammer" is even better...sexually playful as the song is intended to be about sexual innuendos.
I never understood the point of watching reaction videos until I saw both for the first time. This is her best reaction yet
I've been enjoying her quarantine karaoke covers on her youtube channel. If you like her in this, they are a must to check out.
Morgan's literally a freak of nature.
Great song, exceptional cover, really good reaction. One of the things that makes me chuckle is how Morgan James has to keep her low cut top from opening up, about midway in the song. Amen indeed.
Have you reacted to either All About That Bass or Dear Prudence, both of which have Morgan and Haley Reinhart together?
Amen!!! 👏👏👏
We all went to church with Morgan.
Hey, I feel like you turned your volume up. Most excellent.
I hope you get your teeth right into the PMJ girls. Some serious talent here.
You mentioned some time back about doing more American country music. If so, might I suggest George Strait's Cross My Heart, or Check Yes or No?
I love PMJ for how they take modern poppy tunes and sing them with their traditional, some call it retro, jazzy, sometimes crooney vibe. Wow! You're finally reviewing PMJ!
Hi Beth.... Love from India.... Stay safe.... ❤️
There are singers I consider "clean" singers, and ones I consider "dirty" (the tone of their voices, not their morality). Both have their benefits when done right. Morgan is one of my favorite clean-toned singers.
And Haley Reinhart is dirty-toned? I think so.
