+Kade Radcliffe Scott is by far one of the most talented musicians on UA-cam. I'd place Kurt Hugo Schneider and Mike Tompkins up there with him, for being great composers and good musicians in their own right.
For those who wonder why Morgan is not a big star, she signed with Epic Records. But I heard her say in an interview that she wasn't willing to compromise with some of the music industry's agenda, so they dropped her after 2 albums. Achieving fame was never one of her goals, it was always about the music. Along with all of her amazing talents, she has integrity as well.

This is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. I have listened to it a half dozen times in the past few days and it still brings me to tears. I am a 57 year old, battle hardened retired military veteran, I have seen some shit, and this, this does it to me. Well done Ms. James. I feel the pain emoting from your vocals and it eats my soul, in a beautiful way. God bless. Thank you.
41, vet as well. This song brings me a peace that is hard to find elsewhere. There are times that I can't feel much, but I never fail to feel her voice.
The first time I was listening to that piece I was on a roadtrip with friend whom one was in the military too (just a rookie tho). We were listening to it while sitting under a perfectly clear sky full of stars. And the Song just took us straight to heaven. We were completely speechless and my friend told me later that he actually shed some tears because of how much he felt the song.
This cover has been stuck in my head. He’s an insanely great pianist and arranger and her voice is off the charts. When just two people can create such an immense intensity, I find it overwhelmingly beautiful. Just listen and have a great day.
Scott makes this happen...brings the best to the market. Asks the butcher to wrap them up with string and paper and lays them out at our feet in sheer perfection. Why has no one else done this? I love everything he pulls together...go searching and Puddles Pity Party is not to be passed over either!!! See them in concert,
This came on SiriusXM the other day, and it was the first time I ever heard her voice. I actually pulled over to listen to it without any distraction. Morgan James' voice deserves one's full attention. She's brilliant. And what I like is she can be powerful or delicate without all the unnecessary, showy vocal gymnastics which have come into vogue in vocal/pop/R&B singing in the past 20 years or so. She is direct. She doesn't need to bombard the listener with a dozen different notes within each word - she nails it with simplicity and power.
Morgan James is able to make me fly away, make me cry, make me vibrate. I'm musician and i totally love the emotions she can convey. Her voice is amazing.. can't stop to listen it. I can't stop to watch her: one of most amazing, passionate and beautiful singer in the world. Thank you.
I just watched a video of them doing this song in Nashville. The video quality isn't as great, but her performance is even more powerful than she did here.
I really needed to cry after some bad experiences during the last few months. I didn't manage to do it until today. This cover brought a flow of warm tears to my eyes. Thank you.
I never heard this song before this version, but it brings forth emotions a guy like me doesn't usually have. The pure sincerity of her tone, expression and what she emotes is just beautiful. Love this song.

Far too good to be a pop singer. Clear operatic tones and training. Impeccable breath control and pitch. What a great mix of classical and soul in her. Simply fantastic.
My wife and I were at the show in Richmond, Va. Her performance was amazing. Removing the usual bluster of the instrumentals and replacing it with a subtle single piano accompaniment allowed her voice to be the focus of the audience. It really is a hard song to sing and she brought a certain purity to the song. Well deserved standing ovation in Richmond.
Me and my best friend was at the show in Richmond as well and I COMPLETELY agree. I stood up immediately at the end of this performance. The entire show was amazing but this stood out amongst greatness. I can close my eyes and go back to her singing this song that night. Bravo!

I've never seen anyone commit as strongly as she does on the refrain - clenched fists, corded neck muscles, eyes closed and voice so beautifully controlled even at maximum volume. A masterpiece.
She's technically speaking, the best voice of the team. She sounds perfectly clean, she can sing from bass to trebble with no conflict, and has an amazing energy control at any time. Hope to see her keep on growing and making a wonderful career!
I liken her to one of those artists--be they instrumentalist or singer--who can just 'think' a note and it flies out of her instrument without even thinking about it. It just...happens. I know she has honed her craft with great diligence, but it all serves to get to that point.
I think she's just too good to be doing just one thing in order to be able to sell. Look at the usual "huge stars" of now. They are just 1 note, 1 trick poney. I guess, more than that, the audience would not take, they wouldn't know where to place you. But, just the same, maybe she's in for something even bigger. Lord knows what that might be.
It's all about the marketing.... Look up Beth Hart and it's the same story for her but I doubt she loses any sleep not winning a Grammy but is highly qualified.
Corruption in the show business industry: It's all about who you know and who you blow.Absolutely no reason she should not be on the top of the charts.
I'm a huge PMJ fan, been to see them live twice, and have their songs on my playlists almost constantly, but this... this arrangement is just amazing, and Morgan delivers it with so much passion that no matter how many times I hear it it still gives me goosebumps. for me this song embodies the skill of Scott in not just writing and playing but choosing the perfect artist to perform with him. 4 years on and this is still blowing my mind.
Ladies and gents, this is a REAL singer, the is the power of a REAL, authentic singer.. no autotune, no gaggle of backup sings. Pure, human vocals at their very best. Emotional, inspirational and so heartfelt. 10/10.
Sooo I've just spent the last 3 hours listening to this song on repeat and comparing it to other 'Take me to church' covers as well as the original...and then decided to set up a profile on here just to leave this message. So, here goes. The Post Modern Jukebox cover of 'Take Me To Church' is, in my humble opinion, the best on the Internet, far surpassing the original song and going as far as blowing Ed Sheeran's cover out of the water.Absolutely incredible. It gives me chills!Keep up the amazing work that you guys and dolls do!
i wish people would stop trying to compare covers to the original. You may prefer it but that doesn't mean it's better. Have some respect for the person who brought the song into the world. Compare it to covers as that's what it is.
Goosebumps, more than once, during the course of this cover. That's how I know it's going to be on my mp3 player in the near future and probably stay there. I can't say you topped the original version for me, but I can say this was excellent. Especially with the video, it's a real treat to watch a singer throw their heart and soul into something so ardently. Cheers! and thank you both!
I have to say I think the main reason this is my favourite cover is it gets the whole point of the song. It isnt soft and gentle, its angry, its indignant and it's beautiful.
I was completely taken by surprise at 3:20! This song can be a difficult one to cover, but she did it brilliantly. The way Ms. James consistently added power or softened her voice with such emotion (Hozier made emotion a large influence of his voice behind the lyrics), yet with excellent control, timing, and accuracy is truly amazing. She is a one-of-a-kind singer for sure
I like the original, but this is just stunning. The simplicity is one of the aspects that gives it such power; just her incredible voice and a piano accompaniment. She has to have exceptional talent AND confidence to dispense with conventional instrumentation to gloss over any mistakes - she doesn’t make any. Wish I had come across her and PMJB a lot sooner, but sooo glad to have stumbled upon this, bettar late than nevar.
I'm at a loss of words for this performance, I've listen about 100 times and there will be countless others. A lucky person you sing this for and I hope I'll find the one I can sing it for.
I love every song Morgan sings. Her Voice is fantastic and she has such great range and brilliant choice of music. She has an amazing talent and deserves to be enjoyed by anyone lucky enough to hear her music. The first time I discovered Morgan James was her cover of Dream On and I was blown away. Thank you so much for all you do.
Morgan is a-ma-zing. Not only is her voice exceptional to the extreme, her enunciation is so clear and distinct while flowing naturally with the music. I‘m in awe.
It's been 7 years but this rendition is STILL the one I come back to, it's STILL the one that haunts me. So, so so so so good. The beauty in this performance cannot be said by mere words.
Bachelor's of Music in Voice from Juilliard + years on Broadway = education, training and experience. That is the difference between getting lucking with an ear-worm, and having pure platinum pipes.
Greetings from Russia 2024. I came across this channel completely by accident and ended up on this diamond named Morgan. Holy shit, this is the best female vocal I've heard in the last 10 years. I don’t know where you hid it, but now I will look for it everywhere and always. She is the only one who was able to get as close as possible to Mercury. Maximum loyalty. Maximum respect. Morgan James, you are amazing.
OMG . . Another one that made me stop what I was doing to watch and listen and play again.1st the voice: So full it fills the room and touches my soul.2nd the emotion: Morgan put everything she had in the emotional portrayal of this piece.3rd the arrangement: Scott is a genius that deserves more recognition.
Good God... let me give you my life! You are killing me, Morgan! I've listened to it a hundred times and still get tears in my eyes! Just out of this world! Thank you!
Dear Ms James, while a priest now, I did a couple years in a choir and have two years of lessons of operatic singing. As such, my hat (literally, my priest hat, the one you can see in my picture) goes down. You are a real talent, Ms James. Your voice has great clarity and you have masterful control of it, you sing with a lot of emotion too. That is why folks pay big money, to hear that emotion. That is real performing art. Brava, Ms James. With respect, Fr Gavrilo

What you should understand here is that recommendations are based on your personal interest and taste. The algorithm works in such a way that you have to "search" for a specific genre or subject in order define what you like and what you might wanna hear next. For example if you start watching videos with anything about the universe pretty soon you will talk and sound like an astrophysicist... 😂
@@georgeisaak5321 I know how the algo is supposed to work. The problem arises when your interests are too wide for it to comprehent :P I watch Veritasium, Numberphile, Tom Scott, but also stuff like Good Mythical Morning. I listen any kind off music randing from jazz to electronic to extreme metal. I watch science content, history content, video/photo tutorials, game engine tutorials, 3D modeling, general entertainment. I'm pretty sure that UA-cam can't handle my ADD of interests xD
"2. There's a sh*t ton of amazing singers out there that are pretty much unknown...|" yes. because that is not the demand. the 60's - 90s" are gone. good music is allmost dead.
This lady is truly gifted. Arrangement was wonderful. I understood every word Miss James was singing; that is unusually impressive, especially when the song lyrics are so classically amazing. She is stunning!
I really like it when you guys take pop songs and change them into different styles. It can honestly can make those songs better in some cases, but I don't think this worked as well. The original was already soulful and retro, so this is kind of redundant. Still sounds great, just not really necessary.
Since when has "necessary" got anything to do with it? No song was written to be sung by only one person. Why anyone would call an astonishing recording like this as "unnecessary" just... just stuns me.
FlowersInHisHair I mainly enjoy Post-modern Jukebox because they actually change the songs they cover to be more retro and stripped down, and for a lot of pop songs, that's a good thing and it can be a huge improvement. In this case, the original song was already stripped down, soulful and retro, so they aren't adding anything by covering it. She's still an amazing singer, but they just haven't improved on the original like they have with other songs.
Mr. Bradlee, Ms. James: that was beautiful. Some songs are just for fun, and some songs are quite serious. Take Me to Church is quite serious, and I feel that your performance was very respectful to that. Thank you both very much.
When hear the original, you would think, you have heard the perfection, and nobody would even try to top it! And then there ist Ms. Morgen James! Your are beyond the perfection! I love everything about you!
I discovered this group today, following a Facebook posting by a friend. All I Can say is, 'what have I been doing to miss out on this?!?!' Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!!
HOLY SH*T what a performance - since UA-cam's algorithms caught up with my musical tastes a fortnight ago and recommended a PMJ cover (7 Nation Army) I have had a VERY enjoyable few days exploring their 'back catalogue' and by default Morgan James & Hayley Reinhart - (see the Dear Prudence duet - its sublime) - but this tops everything I've watched so far - jaw droppingly good........
My god Ms. James you have out done yourself and that is a near impossibility. Your songs have sent shivers scurrying up my spine many many times but this one really hit me solid, a direct punch! Thank you.

Changing the pronouns is not changing the sentiment of or meaning behind the song. Its telling the exact same story from a different perspective. Its as much an aspect of an artistic interpretation as having other artists cover the song in the first place and I love the choices they made! Two incredibly talented individuals who treated this song with tremendous respect.
Exactly your the first person to say that. Thank you, people need to calm down about changing the pronouns it's a cover with another genders perspective, its not like shes changing the message of the song.

1,000,000,000 % agree!
the only issue compared with the original is that this lacks the homosexual innuendos. other than that is greater
Better than the original? Let's not get carried away here...
i wish people would stop trying to compare covers to the original. You may prefer it but that doesn't mean it's better. Have some respect for the person who brought the song into the world. Compare it to covers as that's what it is.
This is such a powerful version of this song. Just so beautiful both of them work so well together for this.
This is amazingly good, knowing it was done in one take makes it even more so.
+BC Athey I've listened to this hundreds of times and I still get goosebumps every time.
I have to say I think the main reason this is my favourite cover is it gets the whole point of the song. It isnt soft and gentle, its angry, its indignant and it's beautiful.
Morgan is a throwback all her lyrics whether highs or lows are sung with perfect diction
You've had me listening to this song all day! So beautifully performed! 😍
My favorite version: Take Me To Church (The Voice Performance) - Single by Matt McAndrew
itun.es/us/vuOk4
Edward Conrad I don't haz iTunes (>_
Will Carr, the horror. lol. Here's some of it on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/UwYCTjO_knw/v-deo.html
me tooo! YES YES YES!!! Will Carr
Please do more covers in this simplistic style, piano and vocals are a great combo!
YESSS, that would be awesome!
My jaw hit the floor and shattered -- can't find all the pieces. This was spectacular. Thank you.
1:03 her voice is so delicate, it’s so beautiful!
Oh Wow, what a fantastic and highly emotive performance! What a vocal by Morgan! She is phenomenal and head and shoulders above the rest! BRAVO!!!!
she can sculpt a rock with her voice!
I'm pretty sure Morgan James could sing my texts and voice mails and I'd still melt into the chair.
Utterly beautiful. I love Hozier singing this but her voice is so clear and pure that I can't do anything but love this version
The lyrics with this performance, made me deeply emotional. Everytime she sings "Amen" I cry.
Man at piano.
HANDS DOWN, this was flawless
Perfect! Perfect!! Perfect!!!
Yes! Yes! Yes!!
_blows me away - der absolute Knaller. Sehr überzeugend und authentische Darbringung. Sehr gut die Stelle in @__3:18_
I like the original, but this is just stunning.
This is my favorite version of this song she totally nailed it😊
I'm at a loss of words for this performance, I've listen about 100 times and there will be countless others.
I‘m in awe.
Extraordinary. The voice, the passion, the piano. Sublime.
Morgan James, you are quite phenomenal. Xx
It's been 7 years but this rendition is STILL the one I come back to, it's STILL the one that haunts me.
So, so so so so good. The beauty in this performance cannot be said by mere words.
This woman is not from this world. Her voice is pure perfection y
I think I have listened to this song every day for the last two or three weeks. Just amazing talent on display, both singer and pianist.
*What voice is this, my God. I love you Morgan. You are magnificent!
Lost count of the number of times I've listened to this. Perfect in every way.
Good God... let me give you my life!
Things learned from this channel:
1. UA-cam is pretty bad at suggestion good channels to me.. why do I see this almost 6 years late
2. There's a sh*t ton of amazing singers out there that are pretty much unknown...
3. There's a sh/t ton of amazing musicians out there that are pretty much unknown...
4. Any song covered to PostmodernJukebox style is just amazing...
@@SyntheticFuture i am glad to hear i am not the only one... 😂
"2. There's a sh*t ton of amazing singers out there that are pretty much unknown...|" yes. because that is not the demand. the 60's - 90s" are gone. good music is allmost dead.
I thought the same thing, you should also check out Holly Henry she's amazing
This has been one of the best performances that I have heard, SBand MJ are in complete harmony. Thank you for this, just amazing
This lady is truly gifted. Arrangement was wonderful. I understood every word Miss James was singing; that is unusually impressive, especially when the song lyrics are so classically amazing. She is stunning!
I can watch this a hundred times and will always start to cry in the end. The way Morgan is driven here from the inside is very touching.
I really like it when you guys take pop songs and change them into different styles. It can honestly can make those songs better in some cases, but I don't think this worked as well.
The original was already soulful and retro, so this is kind of redundant.
Still sounds great, just not really necessary.
Indeed, since this wasnt a boring pop song to start with :P
***** They don't have to add anything, or improve anything. They are under no obligation to operate the way you want. This is a beautiful rendition.
That is one of the stupidest comments on the internet
The best amen i ever heard
All I Can say is, 'what have I been doing to miss out on this?!?!' Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!!
even when the most of the videos are brilliant, this one is amazing, purely due to excellent performance of the vocalist.
I am speechless with her voice, I just love it. Thank you for make my day happy with your music.
She is tearing a hole in timespace with the power of her voice. Time stands still and there is no space when listen to this.
This song has such powerful words, coupled with this delivery man it sent chills down my spine. Fan fucking tastic.
hahaha fan fucking tastico!! Christopher Franko
What a voice... She's just amaizing
One of my favorite songs is Dear Prudence. I’ll hope over there now.
Seven Nation Army is performed by Haley. She's good too 😃
I really think her cover (and Scott's arrangement) of Aerosmith's 'Dream On' is really the apex of her work with PMJ.
cannot listen to this woman without crying.. Its incredible
My first time time hearing Morgan James….in tears.
What an amazing voice, couldn't help it, I cried like a baby, just beautiful!
My god Ms. James you have out done yourself and that is a near impossibility. Your songs have sent shivers scurrying up my spine many many times but this one really hit me solid, a direct punch! Thank you.
This woman literally brings tears to my eyes. Her voice is angelic
I'd love to hear Pink Floyd's "Great gig in the sky" played by PostmodernJukebox and sung by Morgan James. Pretty please!
If you love that song, check out the version by "The Last Hurrah". It's incredible.
Or this mindblowing High School girl (at the 1 min mark)

Follow her on Facebook and see when she's doing a fan request show. Request it and she may grant it 😁
@@jasonmarques1480 Thanks for the tip. I tried a few times. If I remember correctly, she knew the song, liked it, but said she'd need a lot of practice before she could sing it.
Feel free to join and propose this song too, if you're interested!
How on earth is it possible that Morgan is still (relatively) unknown??? What a voice. What a performer. What an incredible reach. Wow. Wow! Wow!!!
Thank you, people need to calm down about changing the pronouns it's a cover with another genders perspective, its not like shes changing the message of the song.
zilibabwei Thank you for being smarter than the rest of the idiotic world. You are brilliant!
Honestly this is the most beautiful song I've ever heard
