Morgan is all class, and this was all Morgan. Scott arranges but gives the artist a lot of room to express themselves. Morgan now has an extensive catalogue - PMJ tours, musicals, covers, original material. A genuine performer and person.
Just a quick background on Morgan. She is a Julliard trained opera singer who went on to musical theatre and was highly acclaimed for her work, however she prefers jazz and so that's how she got involved with PMJ.
Respectfully, based on what I've seen of Morgan's work and her interviews, I think that she loves soul and R&B more than anything else. She has the amazing ability to cover a song in a way that honors the original song while also making it uniquely her own. There are multiple songs that I've thought 'no one could EVER improve on the original', and Morgan James has made me rethink that perception , time after time.
Scott on piano, is the founder, and does all of the arrangements. Morgan is classically trained, with roots in theater. Morgan never has, and never will be "tuned". She refuses any work requiring autotuned production. She's also a sweet, wonderful, humble human.
"Creep" performed by Haley Reinhart is by far the best music video ever done by PMJ. As besides staying on the Billboard Digital Jazz Chart for 58 straight weeks, it is also the first and only PMJ music video to exceed 100 million views. In fact, PMJ music videos featuring Haley Reinhart own all the top spots as far as view counts are concerned on PMJ's very extensive and very popular music UA-cam channel.
Morgan James is a national treasure. So incredibly overlooked as an artist. One of the best things I've ever head is her full cover of the White Album (yes, THAT one).
If you want to see Morgan James and Haley Reinhart together I recommend postmodern cover of" all about the bass" and the Beatles" dear Prudence". Awesome.
Morgan is one of the most talented singers on the planet, and the cream of the crop with PMJ. You would also enjoy her take on Hallelujah, and Take me to Church.
...wonderfully done. ● PMJ and all the guest vocalists and specialists maintain a similar high caliber tone / style across all their various productions. It's the PMJ 'thing.'
I love Morgan James, now it's time to to get your mind blown by Haley Reinhart and postmodern jukebox with her covers. She is absolutely the best vocalist. I recommend her cover of Creep, seven Nation army, and her newest would postmodern egg Gwen Stefani cover of Don't Speak
"Oops, I Did It Again" is Haley's third most viewed music video on the popular PMJ UA-cam Channel. Meanwhile, "Habits" featuring Haley Reinhart with PMJ has gone viral again and currently is doing more than a million views a month.
Loved your reaction to this. Morgan is one of the voices I need to hear regularly, and this is one of my favorites of her performances. So... I randomly watched you, watch her. So glad I did. (liked/subscribed) Haven't seen you respond to VoicePlay, and would LOVE to. Their recently dropped cover of the Pirates of the Caribbean's Hoist the Colors is really mind-blowing. It's a home run arrangement, vocal performance and video. Will be checking out your other reactions to see what I've missed...
The reason it doesn't sound "rehearsed" is because it isn't. PMJ just schedules a room, brings in the performers and shoots it. Period . . . ONE TAKE (then they move onto the next tune). When you factor that in, this performance is even more amazing.
Now you HAVE to listen to her cover of Hoziers Take me to church , morgan and haley singing beatles Dear prudence, PMJ/ Morgan cover of Maroon 5's Maps....
My algorithm has shown me you've reacted to Morgan James and recognized all the work she's put in! I see you know she was Julliard trained, I've known her since she was on Broadway and you won't find anyone that works harder than her, she still has vocal classes once a week. Hi Coach really enjoyed your reaction and your appreciation for music and talent. But you cannot leave this earth without reacting to Diana Akudinova., covering I can’t help falling in love. She is the flipside of Dimash . She is 18 years old she is a dramatic contralto with her ability to sing with polyphonic overtones. It took me a while to believe an Opera singer was so well able to shift her voice this way. She's stripped all the theatrically out. I mean it's dramatic, but in a more grounded way.
Great reaction, I rarely subscribe after one video but I did this time. Now what are the chances we can get some reactions to Katrina Velarde and what about Dimash, you have to see Dimash

That first phase that included the long sustain is worth noting. Morgan took a 1-beat breath before the word MAYBE. MAYBE you should go back and pay more attention. BTW, that was a jazz riff plucked on the cello and it was also remarkable. Not worthy of criticism "all those imperfections", huh? . And she "finally" did what? Maybe you could explain more clearly what she "finally" did. Good lord...
Vocally, there is nothing worthy of reacting to because the vocals by both performers are just run of the mill and average. Now the performances of the two of them and especially of Haley were cute. Nonetheless, since this reactor is a vocal coach, having him react to a music video with no vocal dynamics like Mad World would just piss him off.
Haley Reinhart. No classical training yet her mastery of her instrument is on par with Floor Jansen. Morgan also has a wicked sense of humor. All three a joy to behold and listen to.
@@theblackdog2399 If you insist, but all things considered I obviously disagree. If it makes it any better, Haley has been my favorite artist for the past decade. Both have skills.
