      Wouldn’t it be easier to subtract the subject from the radial gradient?

    Tip #2 is totally non-intuitive, yet it works. Like you, Anthony, I don't know why it works but it does. Keep the "Stupid Tips" series going forward. The name alone is a winner. Thanks Anthony.

      @patrickshepherd3262 Місяць тому +2

      Stupid Trick #2 seems to work because the masking AI mistakes the uniformly colored background for a sky. Since the model is not part of the ‘sky,’ intersecting the radial mask with the sky mask will not include the model. You might get the same result by subtracting a subject mask instead.

  • @michaelschmitt5413
    @michaelschmitt5413 Місяць тому +3

    I do the radial gradient differently. I subtract the subject, but your way may be better. I'll try it out. I learned something new about the background color. I've been limiting myself to changing temp, tint and hue. Thanks for that tip !!!

    I tried your technique of a spot light behind the subject. Shot outdoors with foliage as my subject in the foreground. Created a radial mask. Inverted, but instead of sky I used background to intersect. Sky was not an option. Background was more foliage, but it still worked great!

    I hope you don't charge extra for multiple comments...I tried your "Intersect with Select Sky" with spotty results. My first attempt was with a sunflower blossom on a very busy and messy background. LrC said it could not find a sky. Next I tried with a subject that had a less serrated margin and a much more uniform background. The second attempt was successful. Thanks again.

    Alternative for Trick 1: click in the number next to the slider where you can type-enter another number, or use the up arrow to raise the number (by 1 for each brief hit of the key) and with the down arrow lower the number in the same way.
    If you double click the name next to the slider it goes back to middle (0) position.

    Thanks Anthony. I'll have to try the Trick #2. Your trick #1 - extend the right panel with the ALT key in Develop module does not seem to work on a PC. I've seen others recommend this trick but always receive comments that it doesn't work on a PC. If you can figure out a way to make it work on a PC please let us know.
    Keep up your great tutorials

    Anthony - on a PC, using LR Classic v13.4, holding the ALT key does not enable making the panel wider - tried in both Library and Develop modules - it stops where it always has - at about 20% or the screen.

    Thank you for this great video ....... I write a lot of my own Actions and sometimes require tp reposition to my liking after unclicking "Button Mode". After unclicking the Button Mode each Action folder is usually open with the list of the sub actions showing, so moving a Master action folder to another position takes a long time as you have to drag though all the open sub files showing.
    My question, is there a fast way to close all the Master Action, so the sub actions are not visible? Thank you
