Next summer I hope I can walk from Knott End along the River Wyre to Garstang if there is a proper trail one can follow. Thank you again for all your Fylde coast information.
Another very interesting video Steve, you have whetted my appetite for Knott End. Must go when the tide times are right, as I don't drive and don't fancy a long bus journey, and on a clear day. I might get a better view of the Hoad Monument, than I do in Bispham. That lighthouse on a hill fascinates me. Xxx
brill video mate .went for a pint in the pub and lunch a few weeks ago ..I remember a few years ago we parked the car in fleetwood and went on the ferry to knott end .like fools we missed the last ferry back to fleetwood .it cost us £ 15 to get a taxi back to fleetwood .Nice fish n chip shop in knott end .And there’s a nice walk along the path to the old fisherman’s cottages .So much to do in blackpool and surrounding area.Lancashire council should pay you stephen for promoting the area .Thanks for the videos stephen .love em ✌️
I've not been over on the ferry to Knot End yet. I have driven there instead. Looks fun on the ferry. Lowry was such an inspirational artist, it's good that his visit was memorialised. The sculpture is very interesting & evocative.
Though l went to Fleetwood for a few occasions l never know that there's a ferry crossing to a little town called knott End..thanks Stephen for video an interesting surrounding area..
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always very interesting it's good to see different places loved that letter box very different take care xx

hi stuart used to go there as a kid late 50s 60s the cafe was called the esplanade cafe they had a Horlicks machine did the best Horlicks ever lived there for seven yeas up until 2021 moved back to Wales through covid to be near our grand daughter. we had our honeymoon there 1966 ,got married the day England won the world cup (looks like first and last time) great videos and facts thank you
As a kid allways holiday in Blackpool & took the trip into Fleetwood & would see the Knott End ferry & wonderd what Knott End was like...Now you've settled my curiosity with this video....Knott End a ghost town nobody about....enjoyed your video....👏👏👏
Knott End cafe building was the railway station , the railway was closed about 1930 and the cafe opened there as a family business around 1946 so I`m sure Lowry would have eaten there many times
Another great video it looks really nice there at knott end it's one place I have never been to keep up the good work I really enjoy your video's stay safe
In the 70s my dad used to take me over to Knott End on the ferry to do some fishing. I remember a lot more mussels on the beach back then. We used to stand on the mussel beds when we were fishing.
I've spent plenty of years growing up visiting Fleetwood and Blackpool but never been I'm in Blackpool in couple of weeks might have to visit this time keep the great vids coming 👍
I was lucky enough to have a tour of a Telephone Exchange in the mid 1970s. Our Boys' Brigade Officer was also a telephone engineer. He told us allsorts, and predicted the world of communication was about to change beyond what anyone could imagine...he was correct! He told us how phone bills were calculated. It was that low tech it was untrue! Here's how. Each house in our village had its own mechanical meter. At the correct time, a photograph was taken of each meter. When the next bill was due, another photo was taken. The difference between the two numbers on a photo comparison was used to manually calculate a telephone bill! He also pointed out Buzzbars over our head. Touching would mean instant death...but that's were the name 'Buzzby' came from on the 1970s/80s TV adverts. Thanks for the tour, it brought back many memories, but especially my tour of a mysterious 1970s Telephone Exchange on a dark November night!
i lived up the road at Preesall for 41 years . to Fleetwood to Preesall takes 25 mins in car to drive , i lived down Town foot Preesall for 31 years then after that down Pilling Lane . if you get chance in future please do a video of Down Town Foot Preesall . there are a few fishing pits down there if you go up Acre's Lane . keep these great video's coming Stephen .

Been on that ferry many times , just make sure don’t miss it as long way round, I’m just over Morcambe bay at barrow , that statue wasn’t there when I last visited so will have to go back, great vid again, have you been to glasson dock that’s nice with the loch, great villages up lakes too
Great bumping into you by Central Pier today. I was the big guy in the blue hoody. You'll have to do live streams when I'm not on the 2 til 10 shift😁😁😁
I must persuade my hubby to get on the Ferry lol I was there the other week.I stay at Cockerham Sands and across the Estuary you can see Knott End,The Pharos Lighthouse Fleetwood and Blackpool Tower. We nearly visited by car the other year but a Carnival going on couldn't get near.
You've got me interested in a trip to Knott end next time I'm in the area. If you're looking for someone to join you on a video up the Tower, and on The Big One, give me a shout! I'd love to have another go on that ride, and a revisit to the top of the Tower . 😉
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool it's the 2nd time I've stayed at Blackpool this year. I stayed at the Imperial Hotel in June. I saw a couple of great shows at Blackpool Pleasurebeach this month. Hot Ice and the Gatsby Summer show
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool yes it was a very nice and big hotel. I had to pay £9 a night for parking, which I thought would be free for guests and I could of parked in the road close by. Nice breakfast. I did prefer staying at the Lynmoore Guest House at Moore Street South Shore Close to the Velvetcoaster Wetherspoons and Blackpool Pleasurebeach, was only £66 for 3 nights.

I've had a pleasant walk from Knot End Jetty to my house. There was a grand total of 30 meters of ascent all day. Did you see all three letterboxes with their little hats on? The locals put them up last Easter.
The knott end cafe used to be a brilliant little place, it was the old railway station that was converted into a lovely cafe that looked like something from an Enid Blyton story. Sadly it was knocked down, and the newer building looks like the back end of a Tesco- metro. This place has lost an awful lot of it's character and charm, I find it quite sad.
The telephone exchange looks Abandon because nobody does the maintenance on the buildings anymore if water managers to enter the building there is a lot of electrical equipment that can be affected and peoples lines will go off in the GPO days it was a priority to keep the exchanges in good condition knowing In would cost al lot more to fix the Expensive equipment inside
Well that telephone exchange was at the time the latest technology txe2 exchange" I was the BT officer in charge of this and Pilling exchange for some years back in the 1960/70s. It was a very reliable system and a thoroughly modern building at the time. Sad to see it in such a neglected state! Time marches on...
@@1harryrobert I guess so. Back in the day these were pretty low maintenance if viewed in context of the earlier Strowger exchanges I cut my teeth on. If memory serves me well we had around 10000 subscribers in Knott End. Had fun sometimes when called out in the dead of night to a major fault there. No mobile phones then so major shutdown meant no Police Fire or Ambulance service until fixed. Ah, GloryDays!
Very interesting video, Living in Leicestershire I have never heard of Knott End or the ferry. Have you ever done a vlog about the ferry crossing or is it worthwhile to do one.
