Another fab video stephen. I used to live in fleetwood on victoria street with my mum, nan and grandad, i miss it and really want to come back. Such a shame about the pier, i remember going for a drink with my grandad on the pier a year or 2 before it burned down 😪

Used to holiday there as a child in the 1950s,my dad who worked for the railway could only take his holidays in May or October,I don’t think we Ever took our coats off outside it was freezing but still enjoyed it,it seems to have changed a lot since I was last there. The IOM steamer used to sail from there and the Railway Station was open in those days. I seem to remember the beach was a lot more pebbley than it looks today,we used to stay with Mrs Unsworh in Borrowdale Avenue as I remember it but it was a long time ago.

Our bowling club from Bollington in Cheshire used to book a day out at the Marine Hall to use the greens. We then had a evening meal in the Hall, followed by a visit to Fleetwood Working Mens' club for entertainment. This was back in the mid/late seventies.
Our club was owned by a paper company, part of a group of other companies with bowling clubs in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
It was an annual match for a cup commemorating the Queen's coronation and was funded by the company's Group.
All these businesses have long since closed.
I was the club secretary then and still am, and have recently written an article of these days out for our club newsletter.

A terrific video, Stephen. The part of Fleetwood shown on this video looks quite laid back. The beach looks reasonably good and the two lakes are very nice, with the bridge in the middle. There's some quite nice buildings, and the Euston Hotel is of classic architecture. Many thanks.

Played several times in the Marine Hall at the Brass Band Contests... in fact, Fleetwood was both my first and last Brass Band Contests.
I managed to get a tour of the basement of Fleetwood Pier around the year 2000. It was absolutely chock-full of old arcade machines, sad enough to lose the pier but all that nostalgia and potentially rare or even unique historic items that most people didn't even know were there gone too.

That little plane does it’s little show quite a lot! It’s lovely to watch! The cafe by the marine hall is owned by Dave, a local legend! The little food huts on either side of the bridge by Manor Road are known in Fleetwood as the ‘tits’ for obvious reasons😂 it’s such a beautiful view of my town and lovely to watch! It gets such bad press sometimes but our views of the forest of Bowland and the Lake District is world class! Thank you for this! I used to live in Manor Road and recognise many of the places in the video. Some have changed, some have stayed the same.
I spent many hours by the boating lakes (only 2 back then) and in the arcades on the Pier. I was told the roads around the Mount were designed to resemble spokes on a wheel, with the Mount being the hub.
