Things Covered in This Video:
1: Covering Wheel Wells with Wood
- Even though a lot of footage was lost during this step, I had to figure out how to match the angles with a 60 degree corner wegde from the front of the enclosure to the rear. This completely elimented the mismatched elements beneath the baffle, like having one wheel well stick out way further than the other. Not quite 45's, a tapered frustum (triangular pyramid) solved the problem with every hollow cavity filled with expanding foam and pl max construction adhesive.
2: Cutting Angle Iron for Baffle
- In order to mount the massive sub baffle into the box, there needed to be some sort of bracket made to suspend it from the sides. Custom making a set of metal brackets was the best way to keep internal displacements to a minimum. while still being very strong. Sparks were flying, and each piece was cut to exact size.
3: Plotting Bracket Screw Holes
- Because there are seams to watch out for behind the wooden lining and steel cage, placing a bunch of random screw holes there could result in a screw going in between materials, essentially getting NO BITE. To avoid that, each hole was carefully placed and pre-drilled with a countersink beforehand.
4: Cutting Baffle Edge to 5.5 Degrees
- To match the pitch of the speaker layout, the front and rear edges of the baffle needed to be shaved off to create the matching angle. This also made it so the port inserts clear the overall dimensions and still fit with larger and smaller interchangeable ports. Precise tuning will be crucial for dialing in the bandpass once building the design is finished.
5: Adding Recessed Lip For Front
- Since the baffle sits directly on top of the front portion of the box with reinforced panels and steel tubing underneath, the strongest and most rigid way attach the two surfaces is by welding. But how can we weld without an additional metal surface? WE CAN'T! So customizing a little recess will make the 1.5" angle iron sit nice and flush, ready to be welded stronger!
6: Tracing Overlap on Sub Holes
- Without removing a small half moon shaped segment from the baffle brackets, the baskets from the subwoofers would hit and rub causing damage. The trusty jigsaw made all the custom cuts super easy, but it was extremely important to get the correct spacing and placement in order for things to continue fitting down the road after mounting everything inside. These puppies got drilled out for #12 hardware as well.
7: Mounting Brackets in The BASS VAN!
- To ensure an ultra durable bond, more pl max was added to the backs of each metal bracket when mounted to the wall. Extra beefy screws and large self tapping torx heads made sure to keep the bites insanely tight against the shell. 55 screws per side, talk about overkill! But we all know what happens with cars start to flex like crazy... Things start breaking uncontrollably!!!
8: Lifting HEAVY BAFFLE Into Place
- In order to lift this massive baffle onto the angled platform, a series of strategic shoves and pushes was really the only way to get it done. Being just one person makes these parts a little harder, but even with the added difficulty, she went in without a hitch! Perfectly smooth sailing 😁

Hey Bruce. Been here since the mini van. Baci in March I had to have my right foot amputated and been stuck doing nothing. Can't go out and run my traxxas trx4 due to not being able to walk. Your vids have been so inspiring to me to just stay positive. Thank you. Love the build.
Very inspiring to hear you say that man, thanks for taking the time to share. Although not as extreme, I definitely know the feeling of being lamed up from health stuff. Keep trudging forward and thanks for choosing to include me in your life by watching the vids 🙏Best wishes bro!!!

Don’t let that foot slow you down with living your best life. You can take control of the situation and live even better than before. Just dig deep, learn from others that have overcome even worse situations than ours. You can do it!
Hang in there bro
@@EXOcontralto what's the loudest single 15 that you have heard on music not a DB test to date

Jay, I’m with you… I could watch Exo build for hours!!!!👍
Love your passion over the years dude!!
Congratulations on the progress, I can't get over the process. We'll done Sir. Thanks for your awesome content.
I have been watching your builds since the minivan days, and I watched Frankenstein as it was being built, then got a demo of it myself!
I remember when you were planning this build and saving up for amplifiers and woofers, and I have always been amazed by how much persistence, planning, passion, dedication, love, and HARD WORK you put into your builds.
Seeing this baffle slide into place, it felt like a gear shift that took years to happen - it clicked in, and suddenly I could see the future videos from the driver seat perspective looking into the enclosure, and this whole undertaking started to feel more real in that moment.
I am SO excited to see this when it is done, and watch the progress along the way! EXO you are an incredible person and I'm glad you're here 😀
400 SCREWS. Reminds me of my dad 30 years ago when I was about 12. He cut me the scrap sheet wood I found, to the sizes I imagined with his 12" circ saw. then left me to it with the drill and jigsaw. When I was done, he said, did your really need 400 fecking screws and 2 bottles of glue. They where flat blades back then, I drove them all in by hand because I wasn't alowwed to use the the pump driver. He did say the speakers souned really good though. Helped me paint them 12" woofer 3" horn tweeter badboys a rough gloss black. and showed me how to slot screw a 1/2" ply sheet with cut outs and black clothe to make them look sweet as. Loved my dad, miss him loads. Still got his old tools.
Wish I had the space, tools, and time to do a build even half this size
Dude. Bassheads who don’t have the time or resources to do a build 1/4 the size of this, are living their audiophile dreams through YOU!!! Love the videos so much, I feel like I, and everybody else who watch every video, are part of the build.
I will admit it at 53 years old I understand the part where you say it's like therapy not only do I enjoy watching the videos on car installations but I am currently building an install in my Ford F-150 5/8s on a JP23, Alpine DSP, 2-4 channels running highs about 20 speakers total center channel on and on and on! It is absolutely therapeutic...
It was a privilege and a honor to be able to give you a demo at the sundown show and you are truly a kind person and I can't wait to give you a better demo at ruckus this year. Hopefully the next demo is better than the first one I gave you. I hope this build is able to be complete by ruckus so I can get a demo of this behemoth at that show
I agree bubba, builds are how I find my peace. Car audio seems to be the only thing that I can focus on clearly. Everything else my head is everywhere. I appreciate all your effort you put into these bills and the editing. Thank you!
I'm flat out IMPRESSED that that baffle fit that well into that enclosure. Well done dude, you make this look easy but it's clear as day how skilled you are.
I've been watching this channel for about 4.5 years now and I am so happy to see more content going up. I love the channel and I always have. I admire your determination man
I must say. I have been watching this build for so long. When you moved I thought the channel was done. When I seen that update video I was so happy. Seeing this get set today gave ME butterflies brother. Keep up the great work. I can not wait to see and hear this monster
I just love how passionate exo is. Just a guy doing what he loves.
Man i cant wait to see this finished. Its going to be so awesome seeing all the videos of you enjoying it
That dopamine hit that you got when you first slid that in and everything matched up must have been EXOtrordinay. Love watching this come together.
Impresses me how you just get it done by yourself most people would brake down and cry I cant do it. This should be a lesson for everyone, man up and get it done! Exo even does it with a smile. Good video exo thanks for sharing.
I'm way too invested in this build. Absolutely love it.
My favorite part will be seeing the amplifiers getting wire. I remember the crescendo amp rack video nostalgia..
I remember i had 2 beefy 12s 2000 watt amp and stock 6.5 speakers muddying out the vocals haha rookie days
Lovely to watch another bass builder. Just FRIED my back yet again loading my X18.
Don’t give up brother. Love seeing what you’re doing! Car audio, RC and you fixen your property! Keep up that positive vibe. Building your imperium! Been following you for quite some time. Much respect 👍🏼
It's been great to watch you and your channel grow all these years. Around the 20 minute mark I could see the emotion and thought I feel the same way in my car looking at what I have accomplished. It's a great feeling. Like, it's really happening. Making your dream a reality. Thanks for always staying positive and being a force for good in the community.
Absolutely awesome seeing the baffle go in! I've been watching since the beginning, but this made it feel real!! Keep up the good work! I hope to see it in person some day!!
I love it! That’s a much better and more interesting design then a wall. Great idea to angle it. It’s coming along brilliantly. Should be so so solid after and able to take a proper pounding from all those subs!
Bruce! Your videos give me motivation to complete my build, I appreciate the videos even after all these years man.
You’re the best dude. Makes me super happy and excited that you’re happy and excited!! Thank you!!!

Thanks for the inspiration in your videos! I’m still working on my f250 six 15’s wall, got put on hold due to engine failure, put a big damper on things. A friend and myself are currently engine swapping the truck, watching your work on your van is encouraging me to keep pushing along! Thanks Bruce.
This guy easily has the energy of 5 dudes. Amazing as always exo. Hope to see more homestead videos as well hopefully u didn't lose to much footage
Looks great, exciting to see it coming together
Hell yea, There is a lot of ppl on the YT bass scene and very few of them actually do their own builds, so it's nice to see you still doing you're own. Been a long time coming since the Van and a couple of subs you put in years ago as well as the QnA type videos you used to do answering questions people asked. Long journey, good ole days till present, Cheers!
Awesome video. Love the workmanship and enthusiasm
Been watching you since Steve sent you the box and started the big knife tradition. My builds haven't gotten as wild as yours but I'm up to 10k and 4 15s. That she'll looks so solid in there. Loving all the math nerd stuff you put in.
