Day 1 of our Walt Disney World & Disney Cruise Line December 2023 vlog series!
Today is embarkation day! We board the Disney Cruise Line Wish Ship on Monday November 27th 2023 for a 4 night Merry Christmas Cruise round the Bahamas.
We left the Hampton Inn & Suites at Orlando Gateway Village to go back to Orlando Int airport (MCO) for the Disney Cruise Line check in. We were checked in by 9am and on the coach leaving at around 10:30am. As we checked in already, when we got to Port Canaveral all we needed to do was go through security and wait in the Disney cruise waiting area! It was such a qucik and easy process doing it this way.
When we stepped onboard we were blown away by how big the atrium was, seeing it in person was unreal. Rapunzel & Flynn greated us and we got a Wishing star. I saw Mickey Mouse up on deck 5 so we made our way up to see if we could meet him and we could! He was perfect and invited me to make a Wish with him which was such a magical moment. We explored the ship a little going down the slide and seeing the oceaneer club for children as its an "open house" on the first day. They had an imagineer lab, Disney Princess themes areas, Marvel, Pixar and more.
We then went to the quick service buffet Marceline Market which is open for breakfast and lunch.
We checked out the Senses Spa and rainforest room, we didnt intend on buying but we ended up treating ourselves!
When it was time to see our room we were blown away. Room Tour time! We were in 8582 and it was themed on Sleeping Beauty - Princess Aurora. My parents were in the ajoining 8580 and had Princess & The Frog theming. We had an oceanview stateroom with verandah.
I had a look around the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique before we went up to deck 11 outdoors to find Cove Cafe. We found a good spot for the sailaway party - Lets set sail!
For our first evening meal onboard we ate in Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. This was themed around Frozen, Oaken welcomed us along with Elsa, Olaf, Anna & Kristoff. They had some amazing singers and I had my Elsa bound and Loungefly with me which they all loved! The food was amazing and the singing was even better. It was so magical, like Disney Parks but on the sea!!
The Disney dining is always amazing but this experience was so magical. What a day after a long travel day the night before!

They don’t sell the Wish blanket in the gift shop but I was told you can arrange to purchase it with your stateroom host or hostess

It _would_ be rude not to go into the huge Disney store, wouldn’t it? 🤣 Really good tip about checking in at the airport, too! I would never have thought to make that distinction. We have heard from some veteran cruisers that you are permitted to bring up to two bottles of champagne, wine, etc. on the boat with you so long as the bottles are unopened - so not _quite_ the same as the airport, but similar in some ways and better in others haha and how lucky were you to get to light the chandelier with Mickey? ✨
It’s such a shame that the kids’ areas are only open to kids, as there’s so many amazingly cool elements that Disney Adults miss out on…but on the other hand, omg I would LIVE in that spa, $250/day would be entirely worth it for mez To be fair, though, I usually budget for experiences and hardly ever take home souvenirs. I think it’s safe to say that you take home your fair share of souvenirs, Hannah! 😜
The room is lovely. I, too, would be interested in buying a bed runner if they were sold online or in stores! I have seen some used runners from DCL on eBay, but nowhere “official” where you can buy them new. Get on it, Disney! So sorry about your bag wheel 😅 Hopefully the bag doctors at guest services were able to mend it!
LOVE the adults’ only area….and love that your foot has embraced the force 🤣 promise to use your great power for good, and never allow your foot to turn to the dark side! Nice to see the Brother Bear soundtrack getting some love in the Sail Away party set, too. Although, always mildly anticlimactic when you don’t actually sail away at the end 😂 I think the lights you were seeing on the water after dark were magical projections from the ship, though I can neither confirm or deny this.
Arendelle is AMAZING. I confess I have seen a number of vlogs from the Wish, including dinner vlogs from the Arendelle restaurant…but every vlog shows something new and different about the experience. Spirit Elsa is an icon 😍 Looks like she loved your bag every bit as much as you do! And Oaken singing his cover of ‘Let it Go’ haha perfection.

We didnt go back past the Disney Store! Ah well! :D Oooh that makes sense, they did ask us at check in if we were taking any alcohol with us!
I was speechless after meeting Mickey, it took me a few minutes to remember to carry on filming what we were exploring!
The spa ended up being $235 per person for the entire stay so we were very happy with that price in the end!
