Metro was different from almost every othe fps series I ever played And as painfully ironic as it is, the dead and frozen world of the tunnels and the irradiated surface above it are some of the most vibrant and lived in I’ve ever explored
genuinely never been so immersed in an environment as i did with metro. the subtle music, incredible sound design, amazing visuals, phenomenal lonely atmosphere almost helps you feel the cold of the irradiated world

@@delta9685 What do you mean by "Metro Exodus book"? There isn't a book based on Metro Exodus (If that's what you mean). Exodus is, however, very loosely based on Metro 2035, which is in turn somewhat inspired by Last Light. In the case of Metro 2035, I think it's a great book and it's probably my favorite of the series. To be forewarned though, it's pretty depressing.
It was what Artyom's Uncle Sasha called, the voice of the tunnel. Each one had their own distinct voice that the most perceptive of trader could hear. Artyom, clicked off his flashlight and let his kalash hang by the sling he carried it with. Putting his hear to that rusted wall of pipes, the tunnel said to him, "Come, look, try, and buy!"
Wicked phenomenon, yes? But, you know, it’s not any more "evil" than, say… fire. It all depends on your point of view. Try to get a better understanding of things before you make your judgement. Let's move out now, it's not safe here. Khan
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 it's honestly as sad as it is creepy, these people are trapped in their last moments, forced to live eternity in terror and suffering, reliving their last moments over and over. The train crash, the soldiers standing guard, they clearly still have some form of consciousness, since they react to your and Kahn's presence, which makes these scenes even more heartbreaking because it means each "soul" trapped in these anomalies is the remaining thoughts and feelings of a real person. (well, real as far as the narrative is concerned) Similar anomalies in the later games build on this, but I don't think any anomaly ghosts in either Last Light or Exodus come close to this mission, and I think that's a good thing, just like The Library from Halo CE, sometimes an experience is so moving and so unique there's simply no point trying to repeat it. Novosibirsk from Exodus comes damn close, it may even be more intense and tragic overall, but I think Ghost Tunnel still leaves the biggest impression in my mind.

You listen to this enough and you start realizing you havent heard the echoing-cackles of the spider bugs. It is not that they are no longer there, but rather, you begin to become comfortable with the sound, almost feeling as if it is wrong to not hear them. It is one thing to be in a spider infested tunnel, it is another to be in a tunnel that *should* be spider infested (but suddenly isnt).

The first time walking through these haunting tunnels was the worst but yet so amazing. It was like a real apocalyptic game where I felt hopeless but yet I still could find a way out of the situation instead of hey you're fucked with no chance of survival
This is the one element - among many - I missed the most from Exodus. The supernatural. The ghosts, spirits and visions of the Metro are some of the series' best moments; and I get chills everytime I replay the first two games.
Yeah I missed that too, I also wish that Khan could have been a part of the game somehow, he always added so much intrigue and mystery to the game. I still really like Exodus but 2033 and especially Last Light just hit different.

When bourbon speaks his last words in. That horrifying voice, in shock you try to make sense of it in a split second, nothing comes to mind, this is madness am I going mad?! No! I just have to get him out of the tunnel, then he'll be ok!
@@SuperTama98 Every person has their own reaction to the deafening sounds from the pipes - Bourbon sadly didn't, very intriguing death nonetheless. The scariest bit there was Khan mentioning the ravine where all the bodies are dumped...
I know a few popular game channels say that metro had too many dark moments (literally), too many times you had to slowly walk with another character, or that the compass isnt a real one But i fricking loved those moments, the slow walks with khan telling me wisdom, the terror of keeping a light for the spiders, and the compass was a really fun idea imo, better than a glowing bright symbol everywhere, delightful.
On the chapter of the book where artyom and Khan travel through the haunted tunnel listening to this will make the chapter just as terrifying as the level was and I'll still feel large amounts of sorrow for those that died and are still stuck in the Metro beneath moscow despite the rest of the world still continuing in a new dark age I suppose those who die as well stay where they died Metro or not very unsettling indeed and quite depressing 😢

Who cares if it was better in the novel? Of course, because modeling a game word-to-word on a novel is impossible, yet they still did a great job. Grow up you crybaby.
Samasoku forced open world that the engine isn’t really built for(even if it was, they designed it badly - there’s barely anything to do). Painfully obvious story beats. Utter lack of any actual moral conflict. While we’re at it; the moral system in its state has no right to exist; the Dark Ones can’t whisper in your head if they’re gone. Another bad ending that is going to be completely retconned(both the endings are pretty lackluster, if you ask me). Only a handful of minor characters got any arc whatsoever. Over abundance of childish dialogue(it was there before, but it got even worse). The graphics are pretty, and Anna’s personality has gotten a bit more human-like, but it’s not nearly enough to make it close to its predecessors. This game is just painfully average in comparison, I was hoping it would be more than that.

This track is perfect for reading the Metro books. It compounds the atmosphere, helping people like me who are sensitive to the audio around them when reading. To fans of the games read the Metro 2033 and 2034 books, they're even better than the already amazing games of their namesake.

The atmosphere! The music! This game is a special kind of experience
One of if not the only mission with no actual combat, yet it still ends up being the most terrifying and unsettling.
A good ol' Haunted House experience, except it's so much more terrifying and eerie than most other haunted house experiences in other horror games.
The library also still gets me but for a different reason.
