If I had the patience to wait for it, I'd love that very rifle. You all build a gorgeous firearm, worthy of the American West. The .500 S&W is perfect for a Texas hog gun, too.
@@jimmazzarese8134 Its a very high quality firearm, with impeccable fit and finish. If they were mass producing them it would not be of the same quality.
I love seeing Americans pulling together to create a gun company, moving innovation 💡 and keeping traditions Live. It would be a dream come true to have a lever action of that caliber here in Texas
My Model 89 is my favorite rifle. Worth every dollar that I paid for it. I got mine about 3 years ago when a friend discovered Bighorn and suggested that we order two of them. It's fantastic as a close/mid-range rifle for pretty much anything a person would want to hunt.
You guys should do more of these videos, the vapour trail on those bullets was like an inter continental missile. Thanks for posting warm greeting from Sydney Australia. love my 89 500 S&W mag.
That little lever gun is as sweet as it gets. You guys need to build an industrial strength, mobile rotisserie that can handle a whole buffalo. My dad was in the meat business. We once roasted a whole steer like that. A crowd of people watching that thing going round takes you back to the best part of our beginnings. Just start well in advance of the crowd. They can only wait so long smelling that before they go nuts.
Awesome, Thanks for getting back to me! I bought the 16” trapper model 89 and picked it up last week. Shot about 30 handloads (400gr @ 1700 FPS) yesterday and it was as ACCURATE with the iron sights!! Thinking about sending it into you guys for the scout mount install..
One can often see the wee shockwave coming off a supersonic bullet zipping down range. The .500 S&W Magnum bullets (Ed. iOS self check) out of those Big Horn Armory rifles look like they’re towing a tsunami.
How does the .500 S&W magnum compare ballistically to the .45-70 Gov't? As one person has noted, that's an awfully expensive rifle (especially when I compare it to my Marlin Guide gun in .45-70 which I bought used).
Few in American history removed big animals like this for "game/sport." It's an intentionally leading question. Animals die in the wild, of old age, disease, predation, starvation, genetic problems, and more. Managing the animal kingdom does much more good for all species of animals than simply leaving them alone. Animal herds come back from extinction, thrive, the average age can be much younger, more able to reproduce healthy young, and at the same time replenish the vast top soil and vegetation of the west by the participation of the hunter. As a benefit, hundreds of people get to eat the healthy meat from an animal that didn't see a day stuck in a big corporate stock yard.
Sorry to tell you this but all high fence hunting lodges and ranches are basically like that. Ya go out find the herd if there's enough time in that outing ya try and take the one ya want if not at least the herd is located so they can resume the hunt the next morning. It's still very hard at times to sneak up on a herd and take out the animal you have chosen. If the herd cooperates then it successful hunt is complete.
Most of us don't mind being told off by city folk who have no proper education about wildlife, animals, land management, meat, ecosystems, other than the stuff some "professor" told them.
Glad he put on his best sweat pants for the interview lmao
Don’t see much fun in that kinda hunt but love the 500 mag

Awesome video, and absolutely love my model 89. Great construction and is my favorite gun in the collection.

Yeah it's a high fence operation, standard practice.

@@canespugnaces2126 save some ammo, there's a food crisis coming in a few months.
Look into Texas ranches selling off their cows
Awesome… thanks guys..
Looks like a lot of fun.

love my 89 500 S&W mag.
Love to see some footage of the projectile if any of it was recovered from the bison.
Me too!

18" barrel

Great video - was the 16” or 18” barrel used here?

Are you selling automax barrel/bolt combo’s yet?
That big horn armory 500 smith and wesson magnum is way over priced would never pay almost 5000 dollars for a rifle.
500 auto max is NO JOKE wish y’all shot it with it more

You get about 1500 ft-lbs extra muzzle energy with top end loads for 500 S&W in an 18" barrel over 45-70 Marlin top end loads
👉🏾Do you guys kill 🦬 for food or just for the game/sport❓️
For very tasty bison meat, only.
If you've ever eaten bison tenderloin, you would not ask that question!

I'm pretty new to this what happens to the Buffalo after it's killed that's a lot of meat and Hyde
We eat it. We had some burgers the other day. They were extremely tasty. Bison is the best meat!
You call that HANTING???? ….
Bison, cattle, other animals of the same species don't bound off into the woods like a white tail deer. What are you expecting?
Interesting rifle very expensive compared to the .45-70.
When you have Buffalo that have to constantly run all the time, there not as big as a wild Buffalo.
It’s fine if you go to a farm and walk in the pen and shoot something but don’t tell people that’s hunting

Imagine America 200 years ago with a quarter billion or more bison roaming the American plains. Easy to find some meat.

High fence = fish in a barrel
Don't hurt the furry critters .... not good😮
For $3k+, I would expect that rifle to have exhibition grade walnut, AAA Fancy, minimum.
The standard grade model 89 500 S&W magnum rifle's come with finer grade walnut than any other brand rifle you can purchase.
Yeah, their rifles went up about $2k higher due to inflation .
The wood on the base model is beautiful. Nicer than just about anything you will find at an over the counter gun shop.
