Hey Rapture Family! I'd highly recommend watching until the end, as there's a TON of information with this video from that report/article. I hope you enjoyed friends!
Hey BioshockHub! Can I suggest a new video subject? I’d love to see a video exploring some of the Cut Content specifically from Bioshock Infinite and I know there is a lot! Some I know about is many unique Vox Populi skins, signs and tapestries to be found in some important buildings, and Indian Soldiers!
One thing I really do want them to nail is the aesthetic of rapture. That blend of a neon covered 1940s city with the natural ocean seascape through the windows and tunnels is what made the game so incredible. Really hope they can manage to get the environment atmosphere dialled in on screen
It's going to suck. This wont be a relatively cheap production like Enemy Mine where most of the movie consisted of two actors alone on a rocky planet. The entire Bioshock "world" is filled with crazy details; the creatures, the weapons, the powers... alone, making Rapture look good could cost a fortune. The minute the budget was cut, my hope for a good movie was lost. Now, I'm just wondering how bad it will be.
With how the borderlands movie turned out I am very concerned about how this movie will do, let’s hope that the people working on it actually make it faithfully with the games… I’d still be cautious about it though.
@@Withgreatpowercomesnofuture gearbox and the people working at gearbox has said that borderlands isn't cell shaded, we even had a talk about it in my games design course at college.
I'm not gonna lie, after reading "Bioshock: Rapture" a couple years ago I was really excited that the movie was going to be about the events of the book or at least take place during those events. I thought that it would be so cool to have a bioshock movie that was more of a political drama than an atmospheric horror/thriller film. However this news is still nice to hear, and it's relieving that the producers seem like they give at least a little bit of a shit about the games. That's the secret sauce right there and is also why stuff like the halo show (god rest its soul) and the borderlands movie fell flat on their faces; nobody cared about the source material. Meanwhile shows like fallout/the last of us are celebrated and the upcoming warhammer show that's being produced by Henry Cavill is so highly anticipated, the people behind those projects care about the source material and respect it accordingly (especially so for Cavill). Really really hoping bioshock gets the same treatment
It sounds like they are going for atmosphere, story and philosophy rather than the usual game to movie adaptions that just pretty much run and gun. I'm good with that!
atmosphere and story, with some cool gameplay here and there, that's all I want. that's why the Fallout show worked. the atmosphere of the game with a relatable story, with some cool gameplay.
dude if they actually pull this off while sticking to the source material it will be 100% the BEST movie adaptation of a video game to date! Love the videos man keep it up👍
Pls just pls be a good movie, so many producers/writers just want to remake things as a cash grab but I hope it’s done well for the fans and people who truly appreciate and care about the franchise. We want to see it executed to its full potential
this is encouraging news! Its certaintly a task of delivering a movie that pleases both the fans, and the casual film-goers, but it sounds as if they KNOW that and are working towards getting a healthy mix. I know Netflix movies have a bit of a bad rap, but I feel as though they are taking their time with it and considering the games nuances. Fingers crossed, people!
It's pretty rare nowadays to get a good movie. That combined with the relative obscurity of Bioshock I think we don't have much hope for a good movie. Some of the key people you mentioned have worked on amazing movies tho , that gives some hope I guess . I hope the original people who worked on Bioshock 1 will have say on the movie too , Mostly im just excited to see rapture in high quality and my favorite character Andrew Ryan which they shouldnt have killed off so early 😅
I'm actually thrilled by this. Trying to tell the entire story of rapture in one go is a huge ask, and the budget can swiftly run away from you if you arent careful. Focusing it on the personal, and keeping that focus on the narrative core of the games will really help I think. I'm actually more hyped for the future movie now tbh. So many of these 'giant' game movies don't really do it well.
hopefully we get something that is in continuation to the story of very first one but what bioshock 2 should be not what it was it's great we got the history of rapture but that was for the people of those time in year 2010 but a really good interpretation of what bioshock 2 should have been something like BioShock1 of narrative story wise
You are blindly trusting them for no reason. I'm pretty sure the borderlands production said them same things and here we are. Until we can see a trailer, there's no reason to notnthink this is going to be a dumpster fire, especially since they don't trust the idea of this being a good movie and downgraded it to a Direct to DVD Netflix budget.
Face it. This movie is going to suck. The minute it was reported the budget had been chopped, all hope for a GOOD Bioshock movie was lost. Good sci-fi is expensive, so regardless of the reason, less money just means less; less detail, less effects, less scale... less. While it may be true that MORE money isn't a guarantee of success, I've never heard where cutting a movie budget made ANY sci-fi production better.
Hey (Eric or Erik?) are you doing good? I love BioShock and I always watch you but, sometimes I lose traction for a few months. I found out about you when I first started liking BioShock. I remember that one video that discussed about your life and I always think about you.
I honestly dont understand how a game like bioshock is hard to make or translate in live action. There’s so much richness and lore . I’m kind of nervous about this tbh with them “scaling down the scope.”
unrelated question, but how are we going to keep jack silent like he was in the game? P:S- I am still praying that the movie will be good, I, and many others are at the edge of our seats, hoping this is good.

I might sound hateful but, knowing Netflix, I hope there's NO TYPE of inclusion. the game doesn't have it, the movie doesn't need it.
Actually it isn't massive but lower. Netflix reduced the budget and with this, complications will arise. I don't think this will end well. I prefer they cancel it instead of giving us garbage. Or maybe the producer should look for a studio that gives enough money for a decent depiction of Bioshock. We have seen this many times with warner and disney. It's not going to end well and netflix will blame the fans for it's failure saying we are haters. Well, fans aren't paid as it is with rotten tomatoes. Mark my words!
Personally I think y'all need to temper your excitement and enthusiasm. Y'all forget the climate of our country and the entertainment industry and their willingness to destroy the most profitable I. P's just so they can appease the 1% woke.

Tbh, the Borderlands should've been an animated movie. The cell shaded art style is right there.

It's sad that, because of video game adaptations' reputation, the only reasonable time to be excited about it is after watching it and NOT before.

You cannot watch reviews, they don’t give you an accurate assessment of the movies so you have to go and watch them yourselves to judge them.
Professional movie critic reviews are useless, the stuff on UA-cam is usually pretty spot on.
