Upstart? 😂 that's the worst version I've ever hurd...No way ,can he even come Close to Glen Campbell ,Tom Jones or Tony Bennett, He can't Hit & Sustain the Highs
Fantastic! Glen Campbell's is his own version, but Keith owns a version for himself! I LOVE it. Why are people comparing? They're not the same person. Keith crushes it!!
I have loved the Campbell version for most of my 50 years, but I just discovered Keith because of this song and now I am a huge fan. Great cover from an amazing artist.
There is just something to this song that speaks so wonderfully about our hard working American culture and the power of love. Mr. Campbell and Mr. Urban are both wonderful, especially when they teamed up to do it in the Las Vegas gig.
I've never heard, Keith Urban, stuff before. I'm impressed with his brilliant, live, solo, performance, of, Jimmy&Glens, evergreen, classic. Wonderful.
Not many vocalists have a natural rhythm that words seem to float upon like Keith Urban. It really comes through on this cover of a great Jimmy Webb tune. Thanks for posting this.
Hello Oregon, from Oregon, the great Pacific NW. I agree. Glen has a haunting ingredient that Keith Urban Lacked on Wichita Lineman. I cry every time I hear Glen. I have youthful start at the age of 11 and now at 54 of losing my Memory. I never want to lose my love of music nor what melded me in my youth of love, courage, listening and knowing how to hold your heart. Listening over five times to Glen set my mood into motion once more. Just to remember that we can be someone else. Be the original. Thanks Glen. You will never be forgotten. When My husband gives my requests of songs to help me remember. Glen is at the top with his lineman on the road just trying to survive! D
Keith Urban can sing or play anything. Wichita Lineman is one of my favorites of Glen Campbell. Such a sad thing that Alzheimers is taking over his life. I love Keith Urban. I started to get interested in him during American Idol earlier this year. He is such an accomplished guitar player and so humble. Thanks for uploading this!
This rendition has to sway you like you and your mount are meandering down an auto grooved dirt road near dusk. This IS what this song says to me. Fabulous.
i remember a friend of mine telling me how he was reluctantly dragged along to a Keith Urban concert by his wife, not knowing much about Keith. Anyway he reckons it was the most unbelievably good concert he's ever been to. He said Keith played several instruments on the night and was incredible. I believe he was inspired by Glen Campbell and went to one of Glen's concert when he was very young-the rest is history. Glen is one of my all time favs!
Nice. Doesn't bring on the tears and make my heart ache like the original does. Nobody sings lonely like Glen Campbell. Still, I hope there's always musicians out there that will keep Glen Campbell's songs coming to us so younger generations can discover and appreciate his genius. The documentary "The Wrecking Crew" was a revelation to me. Had no idea he started out as a studio artist and we've been listening to him (and other great talents) uncredited on so many other albums for years and years.
kindafoggy Just watched "Wrecking Crew" myself, and have to recommend it to those interested how great music was made and advances. Jimmy Webb wrote some amazing songs. His book "Tunesmith" if a great resource for songwriters or people who just appreciate the craft. I thought this was fine tribute by Mr. Urban. Comparisons aren't apples-to-apples given the deep production on the original with strings and horns etc., imho
+kindafoggy Though I agree Glens is the definitive performance, It's not really Glens song... this song was written by Jimmy Webb, who wrote many of Glen's most impact-full songs.
Tough act to follow and minus the funny sound effect, this was a really well done tribute to Glen Campbell and the song. Especially being one man with a guitar and live! Props to Keith. He's also a likable guy who in spite of the fame, hasn't gotten full of himself. Still the same humble, but upbeat person.
As good as Keith was at the CMA a few years ago, He can truly kick ass on the guitar. Fantastic cover as, one man, one guitar and no accompaniment at all. Thank you Keith, and thank you to the poster.
he's no Glen Campbell, but this was still great. first time i've ever heard Keith Urban sing. i see his pics in my daughter's magazines, but never heard him. pretty sweet. i'm off to hear his galveston rendition.
I've heard a dozen versions or so now of this 1968 Jimmy Webb classic... including by Johnny Cash & Ray Charles.. Keith Urban's take is the best I've heard by anyone not called Glen Campbell...
Wow, he did a great job, still listening in 2020. One of my all-time favorites. In loo of the terrible things going on this year, I must say I am an African -American mix. Thank God for good music in any color.🥰🥰😉🙂
tremendous musician here excellent thanks Keith Irving for sharing your gifts and talents God bless you always remember God loves more than we will ever know- I don't think I've ever heard anybody sing that song better except for Glen Campbell himself
He had fun and enjoyed it. Nothing wrong with that. Anything that gives a reminder to the greatness of Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb is fine in my book.
🥀This song reminds me of my step Dad who worked for Ga. Power most of his life and he & my Dad were best friends that's a hard thing to ask for but so very true. I love this song it's special and Keith Urban singing it makes it sound so Beautiful🥀🤘
I have been to 4 keith urban concerts and will most likely go to another. He ALWAYS blows me with his guitar solos and the style. It seems that other singers/groups have been influenced by his fantastic instrumentation style.
The song is from the Fall of '68------------I had just turned 22 y/o. --------------RIP, Glenn Campbell ----------------------Well done, Keith.------------------------WolfSky9
Keith Urban is an unmatched triple threat of vocal ability, guitar virtuosity and songwriting supremacy. If he's covering it, it's because it's a worthy song. This is one of those songs. And he more than does this justice. Glen and Jimmy Webb would be the first to say that. Acknowledging Campbell with the silly mouth sound is an homage to his friend and mentor... not fodder for any of you laptop critics. ugh.
Every day Your Version Keith... 3 or ' 4 times Love your voice ... and Love also Wade Haynes..version... Tony Joe White... and Restless Heart Band.....and O C Smith..and Ray Charles.. Thank you.... and that Njoing njoing.True...and funny..its also because it's my favourite song of Jimmy Webb.....God Bless... XX
I was at this show and have a few decent pix from that afternoon. His extended version of "Out On My Own" as he casually walked through the crowd and played guitar was simply timeless. Thanks for posting this. Here was a solo artist at the beginning of a career that was just getting ready to explode.
Definitely Glen Campbell has the definitive version live with the kick-ass bass playe Great version by the Tennessee Aussie. Great salute to Glenn from his fan
Originally recorded by the late great Glen Campbell in 1968. Noone comes close to Glen. His pitch was excellent, and his phrasing was classic AM pop radio gold. Keith - not a bad cover, but theres noone like GC.
How can ANYONE not LOVE this song ???????
Relax people, Keith sang a cover of a classic song he loves. He's not trying to usurp a legend. He's singing a cover. Period. And he did a fine job.
AttnJack I agree but the poster could have cut over a minute of fluff before the song. But he's got some voice.
It sucked ok?
Bravo -- well said
Upstart? 😂 that's the worst version I've ever hurd...No way ,can he even come Close to Glen Campbell ,Tom Jones or Tony Bennett, He can't Hit & Sustain the Highs
Outstanding cover. He can't emulate Glen but he does a great job on his own way. He's very talented
Glen passed away today . We all wanted him for all time. 8 8 2017. Adios
I've never listened to Urban but he really does do it justice. I know now that he truly is talented.
I can hear you mom.....singing and dancing when I was young....listening to Glen....those were the golden days of Innocence....
Fantastic! Glen Campbell's is his own version, but Keith owns a version for himself! I LOVE it. Why are people comparing? They're not the same person. Keith crushes it!!
Feeling melancholy and lonely here in October 2020 still in the midst of the pandemic. Listening to Keith while he does one of my favorite songs. ❤🎸
I have loved the Campbell version for most of my 50 years, but I just discovered Keith because of this song and now I am a huge fan. Great cover from an amazing artist.

For all the folks that say Glen is better...of course he is. But it's nice that a current performer is paying tribute to him. RIP Glen.
Excellent cover!! Great job Keith Urban! His voice is superb for this song. Fabulous guitar playing. A great tribute to Jimmy Webb and Glenn Campbell.
Beautiful Keith..such a great song..
absolutely gorgeous ....Keith did Glen much justice ...thanks for sharing
awesome version of an awesome song, Keith you killed it
I've never heard, Keith Urban, stuff before.

I didnt think it was that great , still not a urban fan . What were those strange noises in the middle of the song ?

Well, Keith isn't Glen and never meant to be. He is a big fan of Glen's music and therefore loves to perform his songs.
Great job keith. Im always amazed when someone takes a song and makes it thier own.
Keith is great and he can play his guitar great, too. This is a heartfelt performance.
This rendition has to sway you like you and your mount are meandering down an auto grooved dirt road near dusk. This IS what this song says to me. Fabulous.
Great tribute to Glen Campbell by Keith Urban. May Glen Campbell Rest In Peace.

Hell of a version. He gets it. He understands the song.
Oh wow from Adelaide australia
Never knew Keith had such an amazing voice, with such control and perfect pitch.

+kindafoggy I think if he did it for real he would be as good..
great modern version.. but LOVE Glen Campbell's version.. brings me back to my childhood
I knew Jimmy Webb very well thru the 90s. This guy Urban does a GREAT job with this great song. What a voice!

I am not a big country music fan...but Keith really nails this song......He said Glen was a big influence on him! Love Keith!
As good as Keith was at the CMA a few years ago,
He can truly kick ass on the guitar. Fantastic cover as, one man, one guitar and no accompaniment at all.

Not often do you hear one guy singing and playing guitar alone, live, as good as that.
Never listened to Keith’s music til I found this. It is wonderful.
It’s 2020. I don’t get tired listening to Keith’s version. You can feel the emotions and sadness with this beautiful song.

The only rendition close to the beauty of Glenn Campbell's. This song is a musical heartbreak like none other. I'd like to hear KD Lang sing it.
