REM might be a rock band but they are from Athens Georgia and at least as far as growing up country is in the blood and in the bones so for it to have an influence would not be a shock at all and to do a rendition even if it's not cut to a major recording on an album also is no surprise

I love Glen Campbell's versions as much as the next person. His is a clear, pure voice and he plays a mean guitar. But I like this version too (absent the interview). The way Micheal sings the line about searching in the sun for another overload embodies what I like about his interpretation of this. Admittedly, the use of the word "pain" instead of "strain" misses the point of what happens to electrical lines when heavy snow falls on them. But I still love the look, feel and sound of this video. And it is lovely to see him so young.

Lime and limpid green, a second scene: A fight between the blue you once knew. Floating down, the sound resounds around the icy waters underground. Jupiter and Saturn, Oberon, Miranda and Titania: Neptune, Titan ... stars can frighten

Its not about whether or not one version is better than the other.....what it is....one band interpreting this beautiful song sung by Glen Campbell in their own way to honor it..great job by REM

Although Glen Campbell was the one to make it the most famous Jimmy Webb wrote it. But he was always more of a songwriter than anything else. Besides this one of the better covers was done by Dwight Yoakam.

a wonderful rendition of a great classic.. the song is truly unique in that every artist who performs it seems to find a way to personalise the emotion...

Best Version EVER!! If only they had not interrupted this amazing gem with an interview. If there is an unedited version of this video with the entire song, please upload. The live version they put out is not nearly as moving as this practice session. They were all just so chill and in the moment that it came out so silky smooth.
