Ahhhh, there's nothing better to cure the realities of a gloomy Monday morning (as I'm neither a morning person nor a Monday person) than having a new video drop from SLB to put some cheer into the day!! Thanks guys!!
Thanks for that bit of kindness!
Old Forester Rye has a super unique mashbill. 65% rye, 20% malted barley 15% corn. I think the high barley content is what leads to Old Forester's sweet, dense, oily mouthfeel. I wish there was a little more spiciness up front, but it is an excellent whiskey period.
Pretty spectacular for the price point IMO!
I'm an Old Forester fan, but for some reason have never tried the rye. Will have to put that on my to-do list for sure. I'd love to see you line up the bottles behind the glasses by ranking to make it easier to keep track of...you know, I've got to prioritize my list! LOL! Great video as always, all!
That’s a great idea, should have done that. Love and learn, everyday. Thank you!
At the price, there are no losers in this group. What really gets me is some local distillers that way overprice a really mediocre product. As long as you stay in the traditional whiskey bourbon producer areas, they all have it down pretty pat. Where you really get burned is from some area that has no whiskey/bourbon tradition, and they are a small producer breaking into the market.
I think the OF Rye is their best product.
A bit tricky to follow, but an excellent category! You can build a Rye collection with these 6 and be happy for about $150.00 give or take...they are each good...
Great session, guys! Bulleit with its 95% rye mashbill was the ringer here, and I thought it was pour number #1 from the moment you described its flavor. The winner, though, is something special - OF Rye splits the difference between the Kentucky and MGP styles, and is the best new whiskey from a legacy American distiller.
Can’t agree more! Excellent observation, much appreciated!
Yep! I knew #1 was Bulleit as soon as he described it. He did too butmdidnt want to say it.
Spot on with the sazerac comment.. I actually did a blind tasting of 4 sazeracs made using different ryes and Sazerac rye came out on top as the best flavour !!! It’s like it was made for a sazerac!!!
I would like to see the four or at least the three testers sitting behind the bar and discussing the tastes!
I would to! Fear of the camera I guess lol.
Had a hard time getting Old Forester last week... SLB definitely has effects at Liquor Stores today.... That Shows what a good program you have.
Oh boy not sure about that but I really appreciate your kind words!
Great video and cool results. I'm going to have to figure out how to get some Old Forester Rye. I am surprised Wild Turkey didn't do better. For my palette it is delicious and I do like it better than the bourbon. I certainly like it more neat than Rittenhouse and Bulleit. I think Michelle was on the right track! Thanks for making this video, SLB!
She very well could have been! She actually would have placed it 2nd!
Fellow NWI guy here from Portage.
When you included the Bulleit in this I was a bit surprised. My wife and I bought a 1.75 ml bottle from Costco, only because she liked the bottle and wanted to use it after the whiskey was gone for staging furniture she refinishes and photographs.
I thought it was thin, and had little flavor, but then thought maybe it was just me. However, my neighbor was over and he asked me how I liked it and I just said, “I’ve had better”, his reply was, “It’s thin, or something, I didn’t taste anything.”
The best thing about someone’s pallet is that things taste different to them than it does to others.
Great content, I just recently discovered your channel and have recommended it to others in our Whiskey Night Tasting Club. I look forward to more great content!
Always appreciate opinions including yours! That’s what makes the whiskey journey so much fun and intriguing because each individual will have his or her own perspective. The discussions that follow are also such a great learning experience!
Valpo, not far from you!
630am on a Monday??? Maybe a little too early to start drinking? 🤔 🤣
Word I looked at my Elijah Craig on the way out to work n I just wanted u hug it right quick
Ahhhh lol! Not for you my friend 😂
😂😂😂
I don't know how I missed this video but Old Forester Rye has been my go to since it won your blind Old Fashioned tasting. I can get a 1L here in Nashville for $23 so I have two more bottles besides the 1 already open. Cheers guys!!! Great video.
Such a great rye!
Before I picked up my first bottles to start my collection of whisky/bourbon/ryes I watched/read a lot of reviews. I wanted to start in the $20 - $30 range, no sense in spending more until I really understood what I like. Old Forester Rye and Old Forester 100 were the first 2 bottles I added to my shelf. I keep going back. They're both such solid and affordable options. Good to see in blind taste tests, good Old Forester Rye is still coming up a winner!
Great way to start your journey and yes OF rye is outstanding!
Old Forester simply puts outs solid products--rye and bourbon. Great video, blind taste process, and very informative. Helps me explore new rye whiskeys. Thanks!!
Appreciate it thank you!
Agreed! 1910 and 1920 are spectacular.
That is what i like about this channel. They make me aware of bourbons and whisky's that I never knew existed.
That’s awesome! Thank you
These blind taste tests are great to watch, really enjoying your channel!
Thanks so much!
There are many Ryes that I enjoy. However, Bulliet Rye is my "House Rye" and I always have it on hand. It's high quality, consistent from bottle to bottle and in my opinion underpriced. (Not that I want it to go up.) Rittenhouse Rye is also rotated through regularly.
OF 100 proof Rye sounds incredible. I'll have to give it a try. As for OF products, the 100 proof Signature, the BIB and 1920 are excellent. And the 1920 would be my desert island pick. As for Ryes, I seem to go with Templeton 4 for mixed drinks and with little or no mixer, the Templeton 6 yr old and Russell's Reserve 6 yr old are good enough for me.
Suggestion: when you do your end of taste test ranking, how about putting the bottles in order from low to high. Yeah, I'm a visual learner. Lastly - good episode. Thanks.
That’s a great suggestion! Def would have been the best way. Thanks for that.
I bought an Old Forester Rye 100 last week...there's already LESS in that bottle than all my other OF bottles, and I've had them up to 5 months older...it's THAT good! Great video, folks!
So glad you enjoyed it! It is fantastic!
Great background music choices as well as the volume level! Really nice addition!
Thank you!
Agreed
You guys make my Monday mornings! Thanks for the great listening! Cheers
Appreciate you this morning! Good way to start a Monday! I thank you for that!
I’m new to Rye Whiskey. My first bottle was Sazerac, Woodford Reserve and now Whistle Pig, Piggy Back 6 Year. All delicious, in my opinion.
Well failed to find Old Forester again this week. Found out yesterday at the grocery store, that the restaurants are buying up all the Old Forester Rye at the warehouse as soon as it arrives. I'm going to call my brother Columbia Mo.. to check his area. Hope for results.
Wow, that’s insane. Hope you find it soon!
I always go back to Old Forester and I like most of what they have. I find that they are complex enough to still show up in Old Fashioneds and Sours.
I agree. Very versatile in most any application.
Bulleit Rye is my go-to for drinking straight out of the bottle when outdoors and ice fishing or other things.
Oh wow absolutely! Fishing and Bulleit rye! Now your talking!
@@slbdrinks It's really drinkable, and the pint bottles are really cool, and they fit inside a pocket very well. They do bottle in half pints, but the bottle is plain, and hard to find.
Starting my Old Fashion studies. Have been using Bullet Rye to begin with. But plan to try Old Forester soon. My clear ice cubes are in the freezer tonight.... Also just finish a batch of home made wine...
Your right on top of everything! Good job!
Great tasting! Old Forester doesn't surprise me as the winner, as all of their offering are either good or great. I had the Rye once a while back and liked it, but haven't found it in a store yet. Their 1920 Prohibition would probably be it for me if I were stuck on a desert Island with only one choice for a whiskey... 🙂 Thanks again!
1920 is over $50 here in Ohio. I'll eventually pick one up in Indiana.
Not a bad way to be stuck on an island lol!
Enjoy your content, especially the blind test on reasonably priced whiskey, but I wish I could hear your co-tester’s comments a bit better. They seem to have slightly different pallets, which could help viewers decide which will be better for them.
Good point. We will def work on that.
Excellent show everyone. I have got to get down to Old Forester and grab that rye. If I see an open window in my work schedule this week it just might happen. Thanks for the fun lunch break. Time to get back to work and finish up.
You got this! Carry on my friend and thanks for checking in!
So I got myself three rye whiskeys, and I'm trying the first one, the 1776 James Pepper, right now. And it's a winner, lovely mint and citrus on the nose, and on the palate, initially, too - followed by rye spice and oak towards the end, with some honey. Has a rather high rye mash content, 90%. That means it's definitely not smooth - spicy, with balls. Thankfully. Like the Bulleit Rye, it's actually distilled by MGP (formerly Seagram's) in Indiana, and only finished and bottled in Kentucky.
There were a decent amount of votes for the 1776 Pepper. I need to check that out.
I’m from New Orleans and Sazerac rye is easy and available to get. I recently was Washington DC and had Sagamore rye which tasted very similar to Sazerac Rye.
I need to try Sagamore. Heard lots of good things!
I'm not a huge fan of rye whiskey personally, but I really appreciate your opinions and tasting notes. Thank's for everything you do! I always look forward to all of your new episodes. Keep it up!
Thank you John. That means a lot!
May I kindly suggest everyone try Wheel Horse Rye 101 in this category....excellent. Also, for my taste Bulleit is still number 1 for mixing. I tried the OF, the WT, and the Knob Creek Ryes...the Knob Creek was definitely the best of those 3.
I have been looking for wheel horse but haven’t seen it yet. To bad.
@@slbdrinks Good luck in ur search....it's amazing at about $27. 95/5 rye mashbill but it's allegedly not MGP. They have a bourbon as well.
Old Forester Rye and Rittenhouse are my two favorites and my number three would be Sagamore Spirit Rye which is about $10 more. Love this channel.
I need to get into some Sagamore rye soon! Heard many good things!
Old Grandad High Rye 100 Proof, is hard to beat, period.
Not a rye however
I don’t drink ryes really so it’s good to get some ideas from this episode. 👌
Yes! They're new to me, so I'm looking forward to exploring ryes!
Great thank you!
Great comparison.....but now OF Rye will be even more difficult to find around me!
Let’s hope not!
Glad to see the results. OF Rye is my favorite rye.
Getting to be my favorite as well.
I am very surprised Old Forester was the winner.
I do appreciate what she said that it was oily...shows age and depth.
Now I'm going to have get that as a mixer or neat sipper.
Plz do and let me know what you think!
Along with my neighbors, we have all brought bottles and did blind tasting nights. Last time I took a new bottle of OF BIB. The general comments were - this tastes mike medicine and its oily. we tried it again with a touch of water and that was all it needed to open up nicley. the winner of the night was a bottle of George Dickels 15 year old - it made a single malt like quality and absolutely incredible. The bottle's owner only let us have one drink each out of the bottle, and I don't blame him.
Thanks for letting me know!
Great video. OF is my go-to in this category, and it's not close (for me). Hey, when will Trenton make his debut on screen?
Lol hard to say. He said when we make it to 100k subs. If we ever do I am holding him to it!
Old Forester Rye on the shopping list! Thanks for a great episode.
Excellent thank you!
OF Rye is fantastic. Probably one of the first Rye’s I tasted and keep coming back to it. Hard to find around me for some reason.
When I was in Kentucky they said it was due to a bottle shortage. Plenty of whiskey, no bottles to put it in.
You have to do another one of these Rye videos with Pikesville, Rare Breed, Knob Creek, Russels Reserve, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof, Old Elk
Another thing that's of interest to whisky lovers: Provenance. The Bulleit (Rye AND Bourbon) has a bad rep among some fans because you don't get to know where it's actually been distilled, the company just buys the distillate from several different companies and then matures it in oak. A little bit like "boutique wineries" that don't own their own vineyards and buy the grapes from different makers. Personally, I don't mind that much as long as the result is good. But some people distinguish between "distillery character" and "cask character".
Great information! I am like you though, I would rather the juice be noteworthy than the particulars of the process. Always exceptions to the rules though.
One of my absolute favorites is a local craft "speed aging" company called Brain Brew. They have a whiskey aged on 200 year old oak that is so smoky and oaky that nothing else I've ever had compares in the slightest
The end flavor is all I care about.
Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. In my country, rye whiskies are comparatively rare (eg, your winner, the Old Forester Rye is not available anywhere, in contrast to their regular Bourbon). I guess that the spiciness doesn't sit well with many whisky lovers around here. When I'm drinking Rye I specifically seek out those with a spicier, more rugged touch. That's why I'm asking if you know any of the following and would recommend one of them, with emphasis on spiciness:
Templeton 6YO Rye Signature Reserve
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye
1776 Whiskey James E. Pepper 1776 Rye 100 Proof
Knob Creek Rye 100 Proof
Basically the whiskeys you are paying US$ 20-25 for cost € 30-40 around here.
I can get Old Forester Rye all day everyday here in South Florida at Publix, Total Wine, and ABC. If you can find Rittenhouse where you are it is in my top 3 list. I always keep 3 to 4 bottles of both stocked at my home bar.
Yes! Templeton 6 yr would be great! KC rye I have and struggled not putting it into my top 5 bumping out Elijah Craig. 1776 Pepper I do not have but it did get a decent amount of votes.
@@donmaduro5262 Yes, but not every American whisky lover lives in the US. We Europeans love it, too.
I always have Sazarac because it's cheap and available here, but I don't really like it much. Not surprised OF Rye won, it's really good for it's price and it's one of my favorite ryes.
It is very good!
Agreed! An interesting way to start the week! Will try to pick up some Old Forester Rye this week. I’ve been looking for a new rye for manhattans as an alternative to my go to Bulleit.
Hopefully you will love it!
@@slbdrinks They didn’t have the Old Forester Rye so I picked up the Rittenhouse. I wouldn’t have known about these great ryes if not for your videos! The best part…they’re sitting comfortably and out of the limelight in the bottom shelf of the liquor store! Ha!
AWESOME!!!! I need to grab some OF!!!! My Bulleit Rye was still in the hunt!! I generally use split base in my Sazerac, Rye and Cognac. Great video!! CHEERS!!!!
Thanks so much! Bulleit just offered such a unique taste profile. For me, I really like that citrus punch followed by that minty pine action! Good call on your part sir!
I bought my 1st rye yesterday high west whiskey double rye it's not to bad only had a little so far. Keep up the great work these blind tasting videos are awesome.
Thanks so much!
Just got my 1st OF Rye to try. Looking forward to making some cocktails with it.
Oh ya!! Nice!
I guess it is no coincidence that the Old Forester is the one bottle that is empty :) I can definitely agree with this winner. Old Forester Rye is delicious and at that price...somehow that makes it even tastier.
Your right! When you find a bottle you love for not much money you love it a little bit more lol!
I find I rate spirits differently if they are to be mixed or to be neat. For example I find Woodford Reserve bourbon to be a little thin drinking neat (I'm nit picking, it's a great drink), but I adore it in a cocktail. That could be the case with you and Sazerac.
Excellent observation! I am with you on this. Some bourbons/ryes are just better used in cocktails. That’s Rittenhouse for me. Will always have it in the bar for cocktails but rarely do I grab it on its own.
I don't really ever drink Rye whiskeys neat, but I think they make great cocktails. In fact, my favorite cocktail right now has become a Black Manhattan made with Basil Hayden Dark Rye.
Mmm that does sound delish!
@@slbdrinks I drop a couple of Luxardo Maraschino cherries with just a couple drops of the syrup in the bottom of a chilled coupe glass. Then, in a mixing glass, add 2oz Basil Hayden Dark Rye, 1oz Amaro Meletti, 1 dash Angostura bitters, 1 dash orange bitters. Add ice and stir. Strain into a chilled glass with cherries. I made this for each of the guys in my bourbon group last week and it was a huge hit :)
I've been looking for Sazerac for a few years now, I can not find it, so anyhow I was hoping your number 6 pick would be one I could get, not necessary one I had tried before. I want to try Old Forester Rye but the suppliers around hear been out for months. Bulleit Rye was one of the first ones I tried back when I first got into Bourbon's/Rye's and I liked it, I need to re explore it and maybe compare it to the James E Pepper 1776 Rye that I like so much? Thanks for sharing theses wonderful video's with us I really enjoy them.
Appreciate that! Quite a few comments concerning the 1776 so sounds like that one is solid. I hear OF rye is short right now on bottles due to Covid. Hopefully it will be more available soon.
I bought Bulleit 95 and EC after last week's video. I've tried Rittenhouse and Sazerac in the past, and decided OF was what I was going to keep. I really liked the EC rye. Reminds me of Willett a little bit. OF is still my go to, but I'll keep EC on the shelf because it's different enough. Rittenhouse and Sazerac are a little low on spice and thin to me. Bulleit is crap to me. Just my opinion
Bulleit is one of those bottles that can easily be a love or hate choice. Very distinctive flavor profile.
Old forester rye and knobs creek rye are my favorites.
i was just debating and ended up going for the JD rye over the OF rye... I'm sippin on the JD and I like it but next time i visit the liq store OF will be my next pick BECAUSE of this video upload
Old Forester is my number #1
Really was surprised it took 1st but than again not really. Soooo good!
I noticed all the bottles were pretty full with the exception of the old forest so the other Ryes didn’t have the amount of time for the flavor to open up as much.
Hard to have 6 bottles at the same shelf life but I understand where you are coming from.
I'm just gettin into Ryes and I've really been eyeing OF. I love their bourbons and now I know what I'll be after next time out!. Great vid!
Hope you love it!
Thanks for all of the sips, tips, and recipes..... oops wrong channel lol. Shoutout Anders! Great show guys!
Love me some Anders! My new favorite cocktail channel!
@@slbdrinks my second 😁
Great Blind!
Old Forrester....the secret is out. Best budget rye on the market.
Harder and harder to get..
When is the best $40-$50 bottle blind coming to up? Appreciate the content. Love that the whole family is involved. Sharing the experience is what it's all about!
That’s 💯 what it’s all about! Thank you for enjoying that. Hoping to move up the price bracket very soon with more choices and more blinds!
I'm big fan of rye, but I largely have not enjoyed Bulleit Rye - My go to is largely Michter's Rye. Goingto have to bring in a bottle of the Old Forester Rye!
Michter's is $20 more here in Ohio... it would have to be significantly better to be worth it to me. The Bulleit is so fantastic!
Michters is a nice go to as well! Bulleit will have that love it or hate it factor. Has a very decisive flavor profile.
Great list for the money for sure. Blind tasting is always revealing. I am not surprised though that OF was tops for you three.
You never know how it’s going to end up. That’s the true test!
Would be interesting to now see a blind between the Old Forester Rye, Knob Creed Rye, Whistle Pig Rye, Redemption Rye, Sagamore Spirits Rye, Jack Daniel's Rye and James E Pepper 1776 Rye, all in the same ballpark price-wise.
Yes! That would be lots of fun!
My wife will be surprised at this because she LOVES Sazerac and she does not like OF Rye at all. Me, I could go with any of these 6 and be quite content. Nice blind…surprising results
Some was surprising I agree especially with the Sazerac.
It's almost criminal how few views and subscribers you have. Keep up the great work and your channel will continue to grow!
Thank you, very much appreciated!
They’re killin it now!
Sazerac is head and shoulders above those that I have tried but that is a $79 bottle in my area. WhistlePig 6 year and Rabbit Hole Boxergrail are really good too for $55 in my area. Until I can find Old Forster rye, I’m still saying Knob Creek for my money is the best value.
Never had Sazerac and randomly 2 days ago I went to the local gas station and there was 1 bottle sitting up high for 29.99. Grabbed it and it's so good! I'll probably never see another lol
Can you please do a blind comparison between your guy’s favorite $20, $30, $40, $50, $60 and $70 bourbons ? I’m curious if a less expensive bourbon can compete with the expensive ones.
Big news on this topic coming up very soon!
Never had Old Forrester rye, but I like Bulleit rye. Check out the Chattanooga Whiskey Rye, higher malt content and great flavor.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Have you tried Old Overholt Rye? One of my favs as well!
I have but it has been to long!
I like the shout out to Gumballhead. That's tasty stuff!
Loved the video as always! I love old forester though I've never had the rye. That will change today. Thanks guys!
Awesome! Thank you!
This was great! I have to find some Old Forester Rye! I have been wanting to try the Bulleit, so now I am justified. I have been loving the Rittenhouse and 101. Also have finished some Knob Creek and recommend the single barrel select 115 proof. Found it for $50 and gave as gifts. More Michelle! She is a great taster!
Always try to get her in the bar for tastings! She always has a wonderful perspective!
I know this is not a $20 rye, msrp is around $60, but Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye is a superb rye in my opinion. It is a desert BOMB!! I'm fairly new to the channel so I do not know if you have covered this one yet or not. Anyways, I have been enjoying the content. Keep on keepin' on brother!
I really appreciate your recommendation! I have a few 50.00 let’s say Ryes in the bar but I have yet to try Sagamore. I really need to do that!
I enjoy the bulleit! I would go with O.F. if it wasnt a screw cap.
Lol I understand that.
Does the Old Forester Rye have the same banana aroma as their Bourbons?
Not necessarily IMO. It’s the only new mash bill from Old Forester for over 100 yrs.
I was really hoping that Wild Turkey 101 would have Won. Then Sazerac would have taken 2 nd.. great job. Thanks for sharing… blessings from Gettysburg Pa….
All on the bar top were excellent. In that situation it’s hard to choose lol.
@@slbdrinks
I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing your opinion…
I have a bottle of Jack Daniels unaged rye, I might have to try and speed age it.
Awesomeness for sure. Outstanding line-up. Thank You.
Appreciate it!
i think your team is spot on.
i love ryes myself and was never a huge fan of the sazerac, never understood the hype either. the WT101 i think is more rye forward than the 101 rye and is one of my fave bourbons. the bulleit is just kinda 'eh' for me. the OF rye is an absolute banger and sadly has become hard to find near me.
my favorite ryes are regular sagamore (i have a few barrel picks from a group i belong to) and wp 10 yr. if you love that black pepper burn like i do the wp10yr is it!
Do like some WP 10 that’s for sure! I need to try Sagamore and have yet to do that. I heard OF is having a shortage on bottles do to Covid and that’s the reason for lack of product right now. Hopefully we will see it soon!
@@slbdrinks i hope to see some of soon, im all out!
Old grandad 114is delicious on ice and I'm gonna try rittenhouse rye tomorrow
I had a question is old elk finished bourbon worth the money
I liked the Dickel Rye.
So does Trent!
It's got an overpowering dill note! I'd like to try it in cocktails. I didn't hate it but it's a rye lovers rye
Very interesting. I am mostly a bourbon guy, but I like to keep one or two bottles of rye on hand as well. Right now I've got the Dickle rye and enjoy it quite a bit. I do not care for Old Forester bourbon, but I might try a bottle of their rye based on this vid.
Trent really likes the Dickel as well.
I thought this was going to be a Live tasting tonight! 50mins ago at 7:24am LOLOL!!!!
Now that would be a tough time for a blind tasting lol!
My local liquor store doesn't carry the Old Forrester Rye. It would be $40-50 if they did.
So I bought the Bulleit. It's absolutely fantastic. So spicy! A perfect balance for an old fashioned. Probably my new favorite bottle of my meager ~20 bottle collection so far. I've been drinking Templeton 6 year as my rye. This is twice as good, and a little better than the Rittenhouse I picked up last week on your recommendation.
Bulleit was $32 here in Ohio.
I need to make another trip to Indiana to stock up. Lol.
I'm making a list.
Super glad you liked it!
Bulleit rye is weak for a rye.90 proof just didn't have enough spice for me. it's alright.and Sazerac doesn't make anything worth drinking in my book.it's reminiscent of varnish remover. 😂😂
I just bought a bottle of the Rittenhouse BIB Rye. It’s fantastic! For me way better than the Bulleit Rye. Looking forward to making a manhattan with the Rittenhouse. Thanks SLB for the info this am!
Voting for a mixing rye or rye neat to me is two different things. I agree Rittenhouse is a fabulous whiskey for cocktails! With Bulleit it has a more citrus/piney profile which may not mix well in certain cocktails.
@@slbdrinks Thanks for that clear answer! Perhaps explains why my manhattans have been unsatisfactory. So glad I found your videos. Will let you know how my first Rittenhouse manhattan works out. I bought a bottle of orange bitters too on your recommendation.
How do you think George Dickel would have done on here because I know you’re a fan of that too!
I think it would have done well!
My Brother gave me a bottle of Jim Beam Rye Pre-Prohibition 45% Alc 90 proof. Just curious what the going price is. And plan to try it in an Old Fashion soon. Also plan to get a bottle of Old forester Rye soon.
Would have no idea on the price but sounds very good!
Nice tasting! I'd have tasted off the first and second discards against each other before setting the rankings, but that's just me.
Re the OF Rye, I saw a Fred Minnick video where he tasted it for the first time. He pronounced it "dangerously delicious." So you're not alone in your views. Cheers!
Appreciate that. Those blind videos time factor is the biggest issue. Would have loved to taste off the bottom 2 than the 3-4.
Old Forester for the win! Sazerac was a big disappointment for us here, OF and Rittenhouse are our go to ryes for cocktails. Love these types of videos.
Appreciate it thank you!
Great fun!! Looking forward to testing these out 😊
Appreciate it thank you!
Love the vibe at SLB
Appreciate that!
I’m a Bulleit Rye guy, only because I find it difficult to find the higher horsepower Knob Creek Rye for my Manhattans. Having said that, the Bulleit Rye’s flavors do add character to my Manhattans.
Old Forester , my pick, but then it was the only one in the contest here….😛
What a great vid, Love the Banter on your tastings... Like I said... Im not a rye guy but I would love to pick up Old Forester, but its not on Montana.....
so, the ranking if I am seeing this is as follows..
1. Old Forester
2. Bulleit
3. Rittenhouse
4. Wild Turkey 101
5. Elijah Craig
6. Sazarac
Yes that was the final lineup but we didn’t spend any time ranking 3-6. I believe it would have stayed relatively the same with the exception of Michelle. She would have moved WT 101 to the #2 spot.
@@slbdrinks yeah, after I posted, thats just the order of "Not going to make the next round" not 3 is better than 6... Still a great vid... absolutely loved it. need more of this, different price ranges, types... great series... hope it continues.
I love watching your videos and I would love to hear your thoughts on Jack Daniels rye
I might just go out and grab one of the top 3 on my next trip
Hope you do!
You know as soon as you see Old Forester is sitting empty on the bar top.
Aw man, I wish I could get my hands on some Sazerac Rye. Maybe it's easier to get in other places but I can't remember the last time I saw it in MD.
That’s to bad. We can see it fairly frequently. Hopefully that will change for you soon!
The Sazerac is a hard find here in MN as well like I've learned the big liquor stores won't have it, but the grocery stores liquor store does also Targets liquor has a chance of having it.
Personally disappointed by it'd showing in this list as I really like it (top 3 of my 20 bottle collection) but I've also only had it out of those 6 too.
