Double Rye is $27 for me, and a great daily drinker. But it's also young and you need to be a rye lover. I'd choose Emerald Giant for a daily rye that's not as bold. KC Rye SiB SP is underrated and my Friday Night.

All great picks, for me the Michters 10 year rye beats out the Parkers Heritage by a mile though. I’m glad I cleaned out those Lot 40 CS when they where around, still have sealed bottles of both the 11 and 12 year.
Im from Canada/Ontario, have the new 2020 or w/e non-age stated Lot 40 CS. Haven't had the 11 or 12 year, but I can say that the non-age stated one is alright. It's pretty good overall. But nothing crazy blow my socks off. The Wiser 23 CS on the other hand from the same distillery is amazing and I love it.

Good info! I was looking for a Rye intro. I got a sample bottle of Red Eye coffee infused Rye (didn't notice the fine-print about the coffee, but it was $0.98, so I'm OK with it) ... but I doubt that I'm actuality tasting any Rye. Tip: if whiskey is coming out of a crack, then there is likely "some" glass inside as well. Maybe cheesecloth the transfer? 😉

@@timfehn4637 I just tried it for the 1st time on Wednesday. I had the piggyback(6yr) the 10yr n 12yr. Have you ever had it? I like the piggyback the most. The 10 n 12yr has a dill note on the nose but not on the palate. But to me the piggyback tasted almost like an apple pie you got some apple in there the spice and the taste of a baked crust. That's the tasting notes I got from it.
@@skills1989 personal I've had some of those notes but not enough to justify the wall of heat you have to push thru granted it's good on ice but I don't want to ice my whiskey everytime to really enjoy it. @@timfehn4637 I had the Wistlepig 10 - it was super hot - I put it in my bourbon decanter and man it was tasty afterward. The rye spice notes are so strong. Before I decanted it though I had difficulty drinking it (too hot).
@@cameronove that's what I've experienced. They have a great taste if you can push thru the heat but you have to do something to the whiskey to get it instead of it already being like it from the bottle and for the price you pay for whistle pig it's not worth the effort to me.

Here in utah a majority of the craft cocktail bars use double rye as their cocktail base. Definitely agree with that choice
Old forester is great ESPECIALLY at 25 a bottle. Maybe 40 -50 maybe a touch better but you can buy 2 old foresters for double fun
