I have found that communities based around creators tend to take their cues from the creator. If the minders are perceived as courteous and kind people it’s because you’re such a kind, thoughtful and gracious person. Thanks for everything you do for the art community. ❤
My absolute pleasure! Thank you!
Nothing beats a Steve Mitchel watercolor video, unless it's a Steve Mitchel Plein Air one . Thanks you for introducing us to Mrs Mitchel and to your grandson.
Mate, of course your community is going to be kind and courteous. You are the kindest UA-camr I can think of. You attract the same kind of people to yourself. I think it says a lot about yourself and the great work you do. 😃
Wow, thank you
@@mindofwatercolor 哇哦
As a watercolorist who paints outside, I'm always on the lookout for better, more efficient gear. Gurney's rig has long fascinated me, as he's an artist with the mind of an engineer -- and like you, quite generous with his knowledge. Thanks for sharing! :)
This video is beautiful, the park, the painting, the kids playing and the music. Thank you for sharing this!
As artists we always appreciate when channels still make honest reviews! It's getting rarer and rarer every day. After all these years I know that if you recommend something it's worth the investment.
Sweet, sweet tree scetch! Nature is so far advanced already where you live. We in Switzerland seem to be stuck in perpetual winter'ish temperatures :-/ Nice reminder of better times to come!
!!! Beautiful painting;. Thanks for taking us along. Always excited to see when you post; I think you are maybe one of the first watercolor UA-cam channels I began watching a few years ago and learned all my first techniques from you. Thanks Steve!
I've been watching your channel for a long time never realized you lived in Greer I was actually born in Greer sc. Also found the link to etsy for the easel thanks for that. I really appreciate all your videos they are insightful and very educational, I also discovered James gurney about the same time I discovered your channel, both of which got me back into watercolor painting. I'm very thankful for everything.
Someone swiped my tripod a number of yesrs ago. So, for now, catch me along the Niagara region waterways sitting on a bench painting on my lap, or on the ground with my stuff in a circle around me. I think I've gotten accustomed to it, even if my back is usually mad at me after a good session.
I BOUGHT THAT EASEL WHEN YOU FIRST TALKED ABOUT IT... LOVE IT! Have been sticking magnets on lots of things to go with it. Fun! THANKS!
Great video. May I ask what music is playing? It’s lovely.
I had one easel from Etsy for similar but not Taylor’s . I m look forward to this travel brush set as budget , look cool and work well enough .
loved the trees. just painted some yesterday that were dreadful. Guess I don't have the eye. not sure if practice will help.
I so appreciate señor Mitchell I love it when he includes family.
You said James Gurney and I held my breath! I love that you admire him too! He is just… not enough words… I am so happy this palette is out there for folks to buy as watching how he made it was fascinating, but not my cup of tea. You were my first UA-cam watercolour artist I followed and enjoyed and still say what everyone else says, kind and generous and super funny! You have taught me an enormous amount over the many years you have been available to a grateful audience. I share your name often. Wish I could get myself out there to paint, but I don’t like mosquitos and get distracted by the birds and breeze and sounds so can’t enjoy the painting. 😂 loved listening to the music on this one and watching your process. Thank you again. Your town is beautiful!
So enjoyable, as always, Steve. I’ve only just realised why you paint trees and all types of foliage so well; it’s the very SUBTLE changes in values. Done with patience and attention to your subject. Another lesson learned.
Glad to hear you refer to that tree as a fine gentleman! I suppose I live in that realm where trees are sentient and have distinct personalities, several tree-friends in my local area. I invested in that "off-brand" brush set when you first mentioned it and it really has impressed me so far. Now I would love one of those easels! Thank you for the reminder!
Fun video, Steve. That does look like a nice little easel! I'm new to painting outside and have just been holding my sketchbook with one hand and drawing/painting with the other. So far it is working for me ok, but I had to get a new lightweight hunting stool with a back because I have a chair like yours and it was so hard on my back. I got a little wagon to put my supplies and chair in to pull along so I don't have to carry everything because I also have all my camera gear with me everywhere I go. I'm happy with my set up so far, but I'm sure it would make life a lot easier to get an easel for my tripod.
😅how an you sit that low? Hahah! I use a higher chair-weight be darned!
Thank you Steve for another wonderful plein air video and for sharing part of your personal life with us. It always feels good to watch your videos and have it end with Scripture. I always look forward to those. ❤
Thanks for endorsing a products list in your Amazon store... always check it out. Today, I bought the Bee cotton watercolor paper, 6 x 9" loose sheets pack! I kept it in my cart to think about... but you made it easy! Thank 😊 you for sharing. Your channel always cheer me on my journey. With a grateful heart, a California Gramma ❤️
I watch to the end for a special blessing of Scripture! Thank you! You live in such a beautiful area... love it! ❤️
@The Mind of Watercolor, Great video, Steve! Do the little orange bits on your clamps leave grooves in your paper? I've been using bulldog clips for years and was eyeballing the clamps you are using here. I'm looking for clamps that won't damage my paper. 💕
I bought one as soon as you posted it. I’ve been using it alot . It works perfectly with an Amazon basics tripod. I have those travel brushes and the Cheap Joes Kilimanjaro Watercolor journal.
Thank you for continuing to encourage with your pleasant, grateful, humble sharing of your knowledge and experience.
I missed your first video review but am going to check it out now. Definitely putting this one on my wishlist. Thank you!!
Everything about this video is awesome: the product review, the location, and of course the sketch; thank you Steve!
Exactly right there what you said about being outdoors. A lot of hobbies are a good excuse (if one be needed😂) to get out there and commune with nature.. I’m a big fan of that. Whether it’s kayaking, fishing, hiking (that’s me!) or painting (me again) we can all get out and breathe in some calm. I like the looks of the easel. I did one livestream where my bicycle was my easel 😅This on a tripod would be a definite step up.👍🙏
Love watching this video! We have beautiful parks in our area & I go walkimg w/my dog almost daily. I take pictures that I use for reference later. There is nothing like being out there. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Oh wow , I don’t paint outside but James always makes me want to try 😅!
Hey Steve, what did you think of the brushes?
I've been loving my Taylor Seamount easel. Thank you for sharing this great information with us, Steve. I've been contemplating purchasing an easel for a long time and made several mock-ups to use before purchasing. Your recommendation made all the difference in making my decision. Not only is it lightweight, but it is so well-made. You can tell she is an artist who seeks perfection. I had her include the acra-swiss mount and use it on my tripod. This is a versatile easel and in every way is perfect! Thank you again for your review and field test.
My boyfriend made a James gurney style easel and I love it combined with Art tool kit palette. They work so well together. Thanks for sharing ❤
How fun I didn't get out today...my allergies are really bad this week, but I purchased a laptop tripod. The platform is metal and slightly heavier, so when I can afford to, I plan to order this easel. But I'm so ready to go out.
Hi 🧠.. another masterpiece ,like to see pictures now and after you add more (Shadow) because you know what lurks in the heart of men 😎
Hi Steve. Jim from Madrid, Spain (an expat New Yorker living abroad).
You know I love your videos and I've learned a lot with you, so thank you!!!
But I do miss you going outdoors to paint. I have mobility and health issues and it's difficult for me to just go out & paint whenever I want, but I think it's just a true and honest way of enjoying making art. I don't know if you agree with me, but I would love to see more plein air videos of you and the wonderful paintings you create.
Cheers from Madrid and sunny Spain!
😁👍
Lovely family & painting, thank you!
Steve is so talented, a great teacher and inspiration. His voice and music are great too. I've been following him for years. Big hug from Sweden 🇸🇪
We live in Lyman!! Love the park!
Have yet to try any plain air painting, have been looking at the easels to use for that purpose, so timely!
Beautiful like all that you do. Best wishes and Greetings from Bavaria Germany ♥
Lovely sketch, and a lovely family! Thanks for giving us a tiny peek into your world. That park is amazing! Love from Kansas. 🌻
It was good to seeJames Gurney easel in action. I bought one as soon as I your review. Your painting was awesome. Thank for sharing.
Loved seeing your wife and grandson. Great day at the park. Thank you for this wonderful video.
This makes me want to get out to Falls Park so badly (I'm just across town from y'all, in Simpsonville) but I'm hiding from the pollen lol. Greer has done such an amazing job with the downtown area in recent years - I really enjoyed this! God bless you for sharing these things with us, Steve!
Danke, fein, gefällt mir gut. Bis zum nächsten Mal. Grüße von Conny aus Germany.
Supi, danke, bis zum nächsten Mal. Grüße von Conny aus Germany
If you love trees, you'd love the Pacific Northwest!
Thank you, Steve, for taking me along to the park! So nice to meet your grandson and see your lovely wife again. I’ve missed your outdoor adventures and hope to see more like this one❤
Nice set
If that is the Fuumi travel brush set i love it. I use it regularly. I’m a big fan of the synthetic sable for control and versatility.
Thanks for this, Steve, it looks like a very useful tool. I love your trees, and I hope you never stop painting them.
Cool easel. How do your knees not lock up on that short stool?
They do get a tad stiff making it tough to stand up. Better for me than standing the whole time though.
What size sketchbook were u using and how big a book do think I could use?
How did you like the brushes? I was in need of travel brushes so I got the set with the rounds, flat, & dagger after you mentioned them and they honestly exceeded my expectations. I think the dagger is my favorite brush now. So thank you!! I wanted a "nice" set but don't have a ton of money so they were great for me
Just fine for the price.
Wow you make that look easy... excellent
I might buy this Seamount thingy, do you still love it?
Yes!
I ordered :) @@mindofwatercolor
I bought your M. Graham paint set and have been loving it. I know this is not really a painting question, but I'm curious about the chair you were sitting on. It is the last piece of kit I need for my own plein air kit and would love a recommendation about a sturdy folding stool to sit on as I paint. Which one were you using in the video? Many thanks for the painting videos of the past. LOVE them. :) I'm glad to know of this gurney style easel too. It looks fabulous. :)
I got mine at Cabelas, an outdoor sporting goods store but it's much like this one. amzn.to/3opmcZp
Fantastic! What kind of tripod do you recommend? What kind of water container seems to work best? Thank you!!
These are what I use.

Lovely to see you painting plein air! Steve, does the easel attach to most tripods? I hope to find a second hand camera tripod at thrift store. :)
Yes it does but ones with detachable mounts.
Beautiful park, you can paint and chill out ❤
I love my easel, easy to use and transport!
This little setup look’s just the business.
Lovely work Steve. Great review!
Nice! Thank you.
Hullo Steve, I have been neglecting my watercolor painting of late, I have been concentrating on soft pastels and I am getting a bit better. I have a hunger for my watercolor process and I purchased the 10 colors from M.Graham to perhaps spur me into starting a new painting! I have not done plein air in quite a while. I may just strike out and do some after the new to me paint arrives! Excellent video, wonderful painting too! Thank you. Please take care and have yourself a lovely day.
Awesome, as usual Steve.
Lovely to see your process 😊
So beautiful!
Great as always
I can’t decide which tripod to buy for the Taylor Seamount easel what are your recommendations thanks! Ernie
I included a suggestion in the video description.
@@mindofwatercolor ok thanks found it whew 😅 Ernie
Thank you
who makes this?
Link is in the description.
@@mindofwatercolor sorry where is the discription? I wanted to know where to buy and what to look for. I see no description, anywhere.
Steve, off topic but I have searched everywhere to find replacement color half pans to go into pallets with empty ones. They are not on Amazon or Blick. Where can I get them without buying another tin pallet each time I run out?
Places like Jerry’s Artarama, Blick, or Cheap Joe’s are usually the places. I never buy pans myself. Once a half pan is empty I refill from a tube.
@@mindofwatercolor Thanks Steve. I haven't thought of that. I looked at all those places and they don't show half pan replacements only new kits. I'll do it your way.
I subscribed to Patreon for you. I have learned much from your videos and my work has improved greatly.
@@frankreid4817 thanks for the support Frank!
@@frankreid4817 I was just at Jerry’s Artarama. They sell half pans if you still want to go that way.
