Wish I got a GLI but a Jetta sport 1.8t isn’t a bad choice either if your not looking to spend the extra $$$. Has a really nice interior and looks better then the base models. Just would never go with a 1.4t and try to put mods on that, it would be a waste.
Jetta was dirt cheap and I spent the rest on mods for looks and performance 🤷🏻♂️
That’s awesome 👍🏼 you should send me a pic
I got a 2012 2.5 se for about 7g and couldn’t be happier for my first car, my car recently beat out a maxima in a lil street race shot up to 130 fairly quickly
Absolute bullshit from this guy! i own a apr stg2 mk6 1.8t tsi jetta and its hell of fun car and have beaten stock civics type r and ktuner civic si. and also is hell of alot more reliable then the gli. and better gas milage. would i like a gli more? YES! do i think the 1.8t tsi is not as good . NO it is very good and you surprise alot of people when they find out its not a gli
Notice, you said stock civics.
I’m going for looks on my Jetta 15 no need for performance ! But I wish I had a GLI lol love your car bro
100% agree. I have a 2012 Jetta S which IS very cheap but pretty hard to work on, especially for a beginner. The stock HP is 115. I don’t plan on swapping a whole lot out in the engine because of the low HP I’m just waiting for a different car to work on! Nice video I was wondering where these went!
Thanks man 👍🏼 I appreciate your support
I have a 2013 jetta s, with a 2.25" catback exhaust, 17" alloys, 20% visibility tint, raceland coilovers, and a modded Airbox. It's not fast but it looks and sounds great, get compliments all the time! Love my jetta although I think I'll be going GTI next.
That’s exactly what I was getting at. It’s cool to make it your own 👍🏼
Gage Lidstone Sounds like a badass Jetta! I was thinking about getting coil overs for mine too. Any recommendations?
Jimmy Cocio because our cars have the solid rear axle instead of independent rear suspension, coilovers are tough to find for a good price. I'm daily driving on racelands and i absolutely love them! They don't have the best reputation in the car community but how can I complain about a quality adjustable coilover shipped to my door for under 700 bucks? (I live in Canada). It all depends how much you wanna spend man!
I got the 2018 jetta it looks exactly the same as yours, love the car btw❤️
I currently own a mark 5 GLI
That ECS Tuning has a lot of goodeal on performance parrs. Check them out! Current mods installed are a CAI, Downpipe, Noise Pipe Delete which gives a faster throttle reponse and spooling of course, and a DV Relocation.
cosmetic mods, eyelids and mark 7 GTI touchscreen radio. Apperently it fits with no code required, well the one I bought of course!
Light wheels and sticky tires are extremely important when your going for performance, I replaced stock GLI rims with 19”x9” Volkswagen rims to give it a more aggressive look but noticed a difference in handling.
Just bought a GLI 35. I love everything about it so far
I definitely agree with going more with looks than performance in a Jetta which is wat I’ve been doing with my 2017 Jetta se and I’ve been loving it
jetta sport is another option closest thing you can get to. a gli just without the bigger turbo
Definitely agree… Much cheaper too!
Actually, you can make a Ea211 have 300 hp-350 hp. Thing is, not a lot of ppl see the potential, so the market isnt big. If you go to Mexico or South Asia thats where most of the mods are for the mk7 jetta SE or S. Also, the market is slow cause of wrong wheel drive 😂. Alot of ppl prefer BWD. Well, atleast in my state.
Idk man, guess my point is that it’s easier to get 300hp out of a GLI than a Jetta
FrankieGisMe True true. But you know, anything is possible in the car community. It is all about the market really or your own skills.
I’m thinking about getting a 2011 Jetta SE (170hp) would you recommend the stage 1 tune? APR
Tune always works best on turbocharged engines. Otherwise you’ll be better off not tuning until you add other performance mods
Where’d you buy the roof rack? .-. I want one for my 2012 Jetta 2.5 SE
Hey man, I have an OEM base carrier with a Thule windscreen retrofitted on it. I did a video about it and have links in the description to everything that I have. How to install Thule wind screen on OEM Base Carrier for VW MK6 Jetta/GLI ua-cam.com/video/pHzVRDgyn8E/v-deo.html
Cross shopping manual 15 gli vs slightly newer and less miles 16 Jetta sport. They seem to have the same susp and similar torque with stage 1 tune. Everything about the gli is a little better in my opinion but not sure if it's better enough to justify buying the older car. Planning minimal mods, short shifter, rear sway, stage 1 tune. I think you've probably driven both. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I'm assuming it'll be a daily driver more than a racecar. So, I'd say get the one that is less expensive and lower miles.
1. The suspensions are not identical. The GLI utilizes slightly larger diameter sway bars and stiffer spring rates. Cross ref the parts numbers to get a better idea
2. Theres a long and exhaustive list of standard features and stock performance upgrades the GLI has over base model jettas that people tend to overlook, including the GTI steering wheel and red stitching, bigger brakes and calipers, XDS cross differential borrowed from the GTI, bigger turbo, launch control, LED tail lights, Fender audio, black headliner and red accents, etc.
3. Consider also that a slightly used DSG equipped GLI is actually not that much more expensive than a manual, and their demonstrably quicker.
4. A bone stock GLI puts out roughly 225 hp and 236 lb ft torque at the flywheel. Thats about what kind of gains you can expect to see after a stage 1 flash on a 1.8t sport. BUT, a dsg equipped GLI will smoke a stage 1 tuned jetta in a quarter mile dual every time, and with just the slightest inexpensive mods (intake, catback exhaust, summer performance tires), it gets even better, and thats even without a tune...
@@nelsonvanvickle8862 I did actually end up getting the Gli. from my research, and I could be wrong, I found that the gli doesn't have the gti differential. When I get on it in the corners, it feels like an open diff.
@ A1 B-
The MK6 GTI and MK6 GLI share the XDS electronic cross diff. The MK7 GTI was fitted with a true limited slip diff. That's probably why it doesn't feel the same..Glad you went with the GLI. I have a 17' with a Eurodyne flash and catback. Monstrous torque brother!!..
The 1.8T platform is actually pretty good for performance mods as well.
Ya, you’re right it is.
I actually went with the apr downpipe, intake, and stage 2 tune on my 2015 1.8t. Love it so far!
@@XxJoeM210xX Have you had any issues with the apr tune?
0 that I know of. Coming up on 90k miles and been tuned since 30k
honestly i don't think i would've ever found a way to mod my jetta without you so ty :)
Thanks man 🙏🏼
I have a 2017 Jetta S.
I’ve got a 2014 1.8T with a pcv valve issue
That’s something that should be checked every so often. I haven’t checked mine but I should. Definitely replace it because it could cause other issues.
If you have a 2014 Jetta and up 1.8t you can go for performance too
You can add performance parts to any vehicle. Build it the way you like it. To each their own. Happy modding :)
@@Frankiegisme that’s true but some are way more easy then other and the Jetta TSI is one of them
Ya, the TSI motors are a great platform
What rims u using bro
18” VW Mallory Wheels www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/18-mallory-priced-each/5k0601025p88z/
hey frank i have 2018 sport is good choice ?
It’s pretty much the same
It just sucks they don’t make a Tdi Gli
Ya but easy part swap
That car was driving backwards
Nah, it was just your eyes 😂
I have a 2016 Jetta T Sport, I think adding a stage 1 tune would be fun and worth it. 250-270 ish HP?
I don’t think you’ll get that much from a stage 1 on a sport. They dyno’d my GLI at 254 after stage 1. I’m sure if you do some other performance mods first you’ll increase the power potential
@@Frankiegisme Stage 1 Jetta sport is 240HP and 290TQ
That’s insane torque 🔥
@@Frankiegisme Yeah my stage 1 jetta isnt much slower than a stage 1 GLI, The DSG really helps you guys though...
@@runova1304 A stage 1 base model jetta is still going to be a little slower than a bone stock dsg equipped GLI even after the tune. Granted its not going to be signifcant and you might be able to keep up off the line but with the taller gears and higher torque curve the GLI will smoke you in the 1/4 mile. A stage 1 tuned GLI puts down roughly 270 whp and will put many car lengths between you, lol...
Why would anyone go for JUST looks over any performance mods? Waste of money to give others a better view when you could upgrade stock parts?? (Stock parts are hardly ever performance based at all)
