To everyone who asked for a more ranged Hunter build, here you go. This is much more fun than Combination Blow! Mobalytics (+ DIM) link in the description.
@@SnuzzleberryClass item with Inmost light + any second perk. Grapple melee(preferred) or Magentic Nade. Hitting an enemy with grapple counts as 2 abilities used so the others recharge faster. Threaded spike for easy kills. Gunpowder Gamble + Winters shroud for class regen. Or Ascension for ability kills. Either way, you'll get faster activation of Inmost Light for ability regen to make GPG or you'll get Ascension and jolt kills to make GPG. You can get your grapple back in like 20 seconds with this build and it is FUN
@@Snuzzleberry he literally says in the video to run a one two punch shotgun. And I see a lot of melee and he’s dodging so…. It’s the same build dude stop it. I have the caliban syntho class item and this is 1 of my two builds for hunter
as long as you're running either stylish executioner or combination blow. going without either as hunter is suicide because that class has no innate survivability, unlike titans and warlocks
Been running your dodge punch for a few days, it’s been super fun and strong but it gets old very fast too, I was just starting to miss shooting and here it comes your new build at the perfect timing!
i run a build similiar to this. Instead of Winters Shroud i use Gun powder gamble becuase you get it so often and its devastating. Using In Most Light / Cyrtarachne until i get a Caliban / Cyrtarachne.. Using gun powder and grapple will have you with woven mail all the time. Loop is different as you want to fly in with grapple to start woven mail. If you hit grapple melee a red bar and get a multi kill you will have gunpowder. Throw gun powder and proc woven mail again, throw spike, dodge throw spike, repeat. x2 Heavy Handed on gloves and 1 firepower you will be making orbs nonstop. No surge mods as not needed since running double speical you want a special finisher mod. Good weapon combo is, The Call with Demo/One for all, Buried Bloodline, Pro memoria. Toss in a special finisher mod and you set. Use the strand weapons more than the buried bloodline becausae unraveling rounds are better than volatile, buried bloodline is there for getting health from a distance and debuffing enemies for the squad. Get Recon/BnS on the pro memoria and you have a decent dps setup and the add clear from the build on lock.
Add in Ascension for an additional +30% DR constantly and jolting adds. Only need to run 50 mobility, too. Silence and Squall so that you can get Frost Armor. Your DR should be close to 80-90% when everything is stacked. And the ad clear is still insane.
NOTE: NOT ALL powered melee kills cause ignitions. First kill always does, but if your threaded spike kills multiple enemies, only a couple of them will ignite. Not all of them sadly :c
im surprised i havent seen people talk about it more, that thing goes crazy, like ive thrown it and like 7 seconds will go by and itll still be flying between enemies
Yup, that's technically the optimal way to do it! But realistically I'm usually too focused on shooting things by the time it comes back, so I stopped bothering lol
You can actually cheese the catch by binding "charged melee" to a mouse button, since the catch counts as a charged melee, thus making it trivial to catch without timing anything. So the loop is hold button, throw out melee, keep holding or begin holding when it's about to return, let go once the catch animation plays (since you might accidentally throw it out again cus you're holding the button)
I’ve been running this build for the past week. A few UA-camrs are catching on this build. GS! Trench Barrel Shotguns, Monte Carlo, and Gunpowder Gamble works great if you want to add anything different
100% most practical and efficient build I've found yet in TFT for endgame nightfalls (right up there w/ turret family warlock). I opted for Outbreak Perfected and sub'd out the unraveling/volatile rounds. Tempted to bump strength to >70 for how often the spike damn near completely refunds itself if you spam melee to catch it, and then have gamblers for backup spikes (spike new best primary weapon?). Might also try this with swapping out invisibility for the new arc aspect to simultaneously deal with overload champs, get a shit-ton extra resistance due to artifact, and have thee extra fragment slot for extra sauce (assuming the new aspect still proc's gamblers? Haven't touched it yet). This would lose the immense invisibility grapple burst, but I was pretty shitty at lining that up consistently anyways. Shout out 'Gundmi Schmuck' if this is actually some demi-God tier shit and you beat me to testing it. I thought I missed out by getting synthos rather than liars w/ calliban's, but now I don't even think I'll be running combination blow at all. You're a scholar and a saint my friend.
Farted around with it. Guess the arc aspect doesn't proc gamble. I like your build just the way you cooked it up, big dog. I do enjoy Outbreak Perfected for personal preference in Nightfalls, but it stings knowing it could be a strand weapon w/ unravelling rounds. I will say that Final Warning feels great as any fully loaded/locked-on kill triggers invisibility due to unravelling the enemy without grappling/dodging/melee first--and it's a terribly predictable way for a scrub like me to instantly grapple into that invisibility grace period for nuclear grapple melee damage. Thanks again for the insight into this powerhouse of a build! :)
This is a build I have been wanting to make after seeing the perk pool for the class item and I can never get Caliban and Synthoceps to drops at all. I've grinded for countless of class items and I've only ever gotten 1 with Synthoceps but it was with Assassin.
I have a similar class item with Spirit of Caliban and Coyote. I tried most of the melees, but I LOVE Threaded Spike with Caliban. It fills a sorta ninja power fantasy for me. ^^
If you haven't been lucky enough to snag Caliban + Synthoceps yet, I can confirm this build is still very viable with Caliban + Cyrtarachne. Not as much damage obviously, but the survivability is outstanding. Just tested this out on today's Master Lost Sector (ironically the one featured in this video) and I didn't even come close to dying. Not even a scare. This is premium stuff right here.
This is actually my situation, since I don’t have Caliban + Synthoceps yet, but I do have Caliban + Cyrtarachne and Caliban + Liar. For this particular build, I am thinking Woven Mail procced by the grapple melee is much more useful than the Liar counterpunch, especially since I won’t be using Combination Blow anyway.
I have been running builds very similar to this since i first unlocked threaded spike, so glad they're getting some love from streamers! Many of us OG hunters are pretty bored of combination blow. However, sure I heard you mention that threaded spike applies weaken and benefits from the damage bonus from stylish executioner. Are you SURE about that? Because there is very mixed info about this online. Most people seem to suggest it doesn't work remotely consistently, and the theory is it's because the melee doesn't connect whilst you're invisible, which is required to proc the damage bonus and weaken. Can you confirm one way or the other?
Threaded Spike applies Sever and allows you to go invisible from Stylish, but using Threaded Spike to break invisibility will not grant the damage or weaken bonuses.
I use a build very similar to this but instead, I use Spirit of the Inmost Light instead of Caliban’s. I found I didn’t need ignitions, but that boost in ability stats that Inmost Light gives makes me damn near stay with unravel and volatile rounds because I always seem to keep a grapple this way 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Edit: I converted to my Graviton Forfeit. I seem to always go back to those instead of the exotic class items lol extended invis while also increase melee charge at the same time is very underrated
Easily the best and my fav melee on Hunter. I think my only gripe is making the mistake of grappling while my melee is still out, making me catch it when I want to grapple melee instead lol. Wish they changed it so you can make your charged or uncharged melee catch it. Unless its like that and I completey missed that in the settings.
I got the same playstyle but instead I use 6 fragments with gunpowder gamble and threaded specter. Orpheus rig and microcosm are the exotics I use and it's a great boss/ room clear build with a lot of ability regen
This is great. It's so disheartening to see such a great new addition to the game be flooded with ComboPunchCrap (not that I don't use it or enjoy it - I do!). Wondering if you happen to have anything up the pipe for future videos in regards to non-standard Warlock builds? If not, do you have any recommendations from another channel or build online (for warlock)? Just subscribed as well. I'm looking forward to more! -Be well
Welcome aboard! As for Warlock builds, I've been playing around with a Lightning Surge setup. I'm still tweaking it, but the potential is definitely there.
I’ll have to try that, my current prismatic is geared towards gunpowder with scatter grenades and Lunas and I lean into the survivability by using assassins cowl for invis and heals on finisher and the boomerang (threaded spike) for a throw able, then throw in Malfeasance for dps a sword for add clear most of the time
0:02 I'm looking forward to trying this build out! Looks like a nice change from combo blow. As a titan main, do you have any plans on some new Titan builds? Lots of fun can be had with Consecration+Frenzied Blade and severance enclosure. Or the new chest piece (can't think of the name) that sends out rockets + grand overture, ghorn, the rocket pistol, or really any rocket launcher, titan dash, and really whatever else you want to use. Great vid, been missing your builds for quite some time! Glad you came back.
I would have put out a Consecration video, but it seems that people are even more sick of that than they are of Combination Blow. I have been playing around with a Thunderclap and Diamond Lance setup though, and it feels really strong.
I have a threaded spike and grapple build with Calibans, I really like facet of ruin and gunpowder gamble because then I have 4 sources of ignitions, the fourth being from the hail fire spike, which will also do more damage because of the shatter damage buff. I haven’t tried it in super high level content like this is, but I think that buffing up those ignitions would be helpful.
@@TheSCIOnce so pick one and do it!...not sure if it carries over, but you prob would need to do it on each character to be able to get them from any pale heart chests
Great build hoping to get a cloak with this combo , got a synoceps with galanor amd one with renwal. The renwal one I have been using with winterbite, stacking the melee bonus from the weapons intrinsic perk plus synoceps plus frozen and stylish executioner buff makes some crazy damage that allows constant invisible plus pretty good damage resistance with galvanic armour, which i proc with ascension, wolven mail from purpose, frost armour from my grenade and a void oversheild I get from killing weakened enemies courtesy of seasonal artifact and your glaive melee applying weaken on hits coming out if invisible . Think i use the galanor one to make a kind a version of this build thst will end being a kind of melee Orpheus build. With all the dodge and melees I cam do with this build and assuming galanor will give me back half my super should be pretty fun until I get the calibans combo, I always look forward to your unique builds and great presentations keep up the good work 👏 l
I was looking for a viable Prismatic Hunter build that wasn’t combo blow. Looks like i’ll have to start grinding for that class item. Glad to have your builds back again!
Good luck with the drops! The build is serviceable with just Caliban - you'll just need the combo if you want to do the funny boss chunks, or take it into Grandmaster level content.
I love that build and I feel like it's a very nice combination of being super strong while still being very fun to play, as I personally do not enjoy those punch builds. One issue I have is that I still rly struggle with survivability without woven mail. In one scene you use a finisher and start an absurdly strong health generation. Did I miss the part in the video or how does that even work :o? Would appreciate an answer
Plunder runs this with Calibans/Cyterachne. I actually think I may prefer that since woven mail will never drop and you don’t need to run a strand super for it…u lose the damage from Synthoceps, but honestly the 100% uptime on 60% DR, then run arc super for Galvanic armor. Shit
I like my prismatic build I don't use a single strand or arc anything. Only solar and stasis. Great for the non trope player Can use any solar and stasis combo of weapons too
ive been using something similar with gunpowder gamble insteadf paring it with an inmost verity build (hopefully caliban verity soon) and its just so much adclear its insane
Is recuperation the better choice for a mod slot since you're going to be dodging and picking up a bunch of orbs so you're pretty much going to full heal each time; or the other one where you start the healing cycle (can't remember the name) so if you need to freely move, you can pick up stray orbs and re-heal?
Honestly I've been running this set-up since I got caliban + arachne. I hate with passion the combination blow build. I'll use it if the situation is nice, but the gameplay loop is so boring that I can't be bothered. I ran this same Nightfall today with a build very similar to yours and it did wonders! Props for thinking out of the box too. Subbed if you're going to continue throwing ideas that are not the same old builds
I tend to usually post off-meta setups that are still strong enough for endgame, since the meta stuff is always obvious and no one really needs a guide for that. My last CB video was an exception because Cowl Arcstrider was what catapulted my channel when Arc 3.0 was brand new, so it felt right to post the updated version.
I prefer to use the recluse with repulsor brace and the 3x damage buff so on top of being amplified and radiant I have a 100% uptime of a void over shield I’m literally never dying build is insane
For this exact nightfall tho, i cant get past the first room. I don't know what kind of connections you get with the threaded spike, but mine refuses to go further than 2 enemies and just fucks off into destiny spaghetti code. On top of that, they still have not fixed the threaded spike/grapple melee bug, after an entire new dlc came out.
Thank you for this build. This is the first one that feels actually strong to me. I know I am not even doing it 100% correctly and I still feel like a powerhouse. I need the exotic class item roll, but for now I am using Cyrtarachne's Facade as a fill in. Any suggestions on things to change up while I haven't unlocked exotic class items yet? ( for weapons I have graviton lance, the call, and a void machine gun.
Out of curiosity, wouldn’t caliban kinda break synthoceps by blowing everything up that’s giving you the synthoceps buff? Or is it that things dont instantly die to the ignitions in higher level content, so they’re just primed for more melee kills?
Yes and no. Synthoceps will turn off shortly after the Ignition chain, but since this build is set up as a hybrid build with strong gun buffs via Volatile/Unraveling and Radiant, it's more of a way to "soften" the battlefield before cleaning up with guns. It's not all-in on Synthos.
thanks for the vod! I was messing around with something similar but my cloak has caliban and gyrfalcon cause I don't have syntho, but I was wondering in the fighting around 3:05 several times your health ping pongs back up like it has mega restoration and I was wondering what is doing that?
Enjoy the build videos, but prefer not to have to rely on rng. Realistically, how many people will have this combination on their exotic class item? Yes, i understand you can farm/open overthrow chests. Still relies on rng to be able to execute the actual build.
I feel you. There are builds I've theorycrafted that I've been unable to test for that reason. Here's hoping they do something about it, like a knockout system at the very least.
It feels like everything ive seen from hunter prismatic lately has been tied to grapple melee ... guess there is more build options but people will all flock to similiar stuff at a time alas
I’m trying to figure out a way to make a strand primary work in this to really take advantage of the unraveling rounds. I figured quicksilver storm could work but I’m struggling to find a void special to run to replace the graviton lance because I still want to be able to take advantage of the volatile rounds while keeping the hard hit of the call for those beefier yellow bars. Any recommendations would be welcome but I am at a total loss for how to optimize it with the quicksilver and a void special
It’s not a special but the last wish auto with repulsive brace and destabilise round could work I don’t know if they have done anything to them yet but the harsh language void wave frame launcher is also a good choice
Its my understanding that synthos on exotic class item was nerfed to only a 30% damage buff. Was this changed or can you confirm it is 160 like the gauntlets?
I wish the Threaded Spike melee ability was smarter; I'm talking "Yondu's arrow" level of smart. I want it to go out of it was to hit as many targets as possible before returning. I mean the tracking ball from that fat Taken goes around corners! I want none of this: 1:53
It can go around corners, you just have to hit the first enemy with the spike. Then it automatically hits every other enemy in close proximity, even if they are around the corner and you cant see them. Only the first hit has to be precise
For The Call, I personally use Lead From Gold so I can get ammo from purple bricks and Vorpal to really put some damage on tougher enemies. But that gun is so good and have many combinations. I say use what’s best for you.
hey, I can't do legend or masters with it, my melee doesn't even do damage, it gets on one target and then it comes back, because it doesn't even get close to killing
Seems like a fun build. Do you think gunpowder gamble could sub here for Winters Shroud? I have a similar setup. I have cyrtarachne + calibans but searching for a synthoceps one.
Honestly, I would recommend Gunpowder Gamble over Winter's Shroud if not running combo blow. You can easily get back a lot of or even all of your melee energy by just catching your melee and there are plenty of ways to build into dodge cooldown with fragments, mods, and stats. This way you can stay further ranged except the occasional gambler's dodge for your melee back and have an additional big aoe grenade for destroying enemies.
Im a returning D1 player so all of this is new to me. This is the most fun build I've used so far but im lacking in the boss dps department compared to my fireteam (titan and warlock) by a bit. Is there something I should be doing different?
If I have Spirit of the Assassin/Cyrtarachne, would I still need to run Stylish Executioner? I noticed Assassin requires finishers or powered melee final blows, whereas stylish just says "defeating a target."
To everyone who asked for a more ranged Hunter build, here you go. This is much more fun than Combination Blow!

I haven’t tried it in super high level content like this is, but I think that buffing up those ignitions would be helpful.
I knew this was gonna use the class item.😖 I still haven’t convinced myself to want to bother with Dual Destiny. Glad to have you back though.
you only need to do it once, technically
Would you like me to carry you through it?
@@Beast-mf7br yeah but I play all three characters and I just haven’t been up to try yet.
@@TheSCIOnce so pick one and do it!...not sure if it carries over, but you prob would need to do it on each character to be able to get them from any pale heart chests
@@Beast-mf7br why didn’t I think of that? Guess I’ll think about it. A
Nice. I don't have correct class item from last build and you present new even better.
Just here for the menacing music + voice over. noice
Thats a dope build but that fashion is the real winner here
Displacer Beast set, Dead Orbit's Fate shader.
I don't have the class item for my hunter but will try your build anyway, it seems great.
I used storms edge in the current gm and i did fine with it. Didnt die once
This build looks super fun! Just need to get the class item roll!
Finally got this cape. Ill try it out tonight
Shit
I find the Void Overshield to be plenty of survivability even when pretty far under level, but Caliban/Cyrtarachne sounds pretty strong!
I like my prismatic build I don't use a single strand or arc anything. Only solar and stasis. Great for the non trope player
Can use any solar and stasis combo of weapons too
I was so happy while watching up until the moment I saw this relied on a exotic class item lol
Cool build I'm trying it out its very nice sweet VOID goodness! 😆
ive been using something similar with gunpowder gamble insteadf paring it with an inmost verity build (hopefully caliban verity soon) and its just so much adclear its insane
Using this with collective obligation seems like it would be so much more potent .
Hunters are fulfilling all Titans and Warlocks dreams 😂
Warlocks are fulfilling their own dreams 😂 prismatic hunter builds don't scratch the same itch
Ppl need to realise there’s more to hunters then just combo punch I mean you’ve got to experiment prismatic has so much stuff like it’s acc mad🤷♂️
with this beautiful voice you should read scary stories
@@Dorvarich fair enough. If I ever get that class item I’ll try it out for sure
If everything is dead what do you need synthos active for
Prismatic was made for Dorvarich.
It's been a ton of fun buildcrafting with it!
can you do a version of this with khovostov as the primary and kinetic siphon?
Facet of Dawn is a wasted fragment slot this season, as the artifact makes you radiant by picking up an orb
I wouldn't call it a total waste, but yeah, the radiant orbs are pretty strong right now.
thanks for the vod! I was messing around with something similar but my cloak has caliban and gyrfalcon cause I don't have syntho, but I was wondering in the fighting around 3:05 several times your health ping pongs back up like it has mega restoration and I was wondering what is doing that?
That's from the Attrition modifier on that particular Nightfall - essentially no passive health regen, but enemies have a chance to drop healing orbs.
@@Dorvarich ooooh ok thanks for the reply!
why is DIM dragon/cyrtarachne instead of caliban/synthoceps on the video ?
Enjoy the build videos, but prefer not to have to rely on rng. Realistically, how many people will have this combination on their exotic class item? Yes, i understand you can farm/open overthrow chests. Still relies on rng to be able to execute the actual build.
I feel you. There are builds I've theorycrafted that I've been unable to test for that reason. Here's hoping they do something about it, like a knockout system at the very least.
Hell yeah i got this roll last night
yo man. what do you use on artifacts? :)
It feels like everything ive seen from hunter prismatic lately has been tied to grapple melee ... guess there is more build options but people will all flock to similiar stuff at a time alas
This is more a case of it being foolish not to use Grapple grenade since we already have Synthos. It's more of a bonus here than a build-around
i love your builds but i was was waiting for a non-melee build
Im a solo player and havent even bothered unlocking dual destiny, any other exotics anyone would recommend? Im sick of combo blow.
What perks would you recommend using on the season artifact?
Do silkstrike kills work with calibans??
what do you recomend on the side arm "the call" and in the heavy commemoration
For The Call, I personally use Lead From Gold so I can get ammo from purple bricks and Vorpal to really put some damage on tougher enemies. But that gun is so good and have many combinations. I say use what’s best for you.
wait so stylish doesnt buff threaded spike???
Was doing this before it was cool
hey, I can't do legend or masters with it, my melee doesn't even do damage, it gets on one target and then it comes back, because it doesn't even get close to killing
Any suggestions for what to run if someone doesn’t have that cloak or cloak + combo?
Yay threaded specter this means you’re my favorite
Seems like a fun build. Do you think gunpowder gamble could sub here for Winters Shroud? I have a similar setup. I have cyrtarachne + calibans but searching for a synthoceps one.
It could! Winter's Shroud isn't essential but the class ability regeneration helps. Having a throwable ignition is never a bad thing.
yo where you been at revenants just released
What are all the ornaments he is using to make his hunter look like that?
Honestly, I would recommend Gunpowder Gamble over Winter's Shroud if not running combo blow. You can easily get back a lot of or even all of your melee energy by just catching your melee and there are plenty of ways to build into dodge cooldown with fragments, mods, and stats. This way you can stay further ranged except the occasional gambler's dodge for your melee back and have an additional big aoe grenade for destroying enemies.
so the exotic cloak with certain perks is a must for this to work?
In my personal opinion not really, but it certainly boosts the potential.
Hm of the original caliban exotic does theclas item keep
will this build work good with the buried bloodline? the devour on top of all of that seems pretty good
yep but most people don't considered it when they recommend builds since the drop is so rare
Can threaded spike one shot red bars without syntho buff?
What if i dont have the cloak suggested substitute?
Im a returning D1 player so all of this is new to me. This is the most fun build I've used so far but im lacking in the boss dps department compared to my fireteam (titan and warlock) by a bit. Is there something I should be doing different?
If I have Spirit of the Assassin/Cyrtarachne, would I still need to run Stylish Executioner? I noticed Assassin requires finishers or powered melee final blows, whereas stylish just says "defeating a target."
You run stylish for the melee damage buff while invis
It’s +200% damage and applies a 15% weaken
which perk combo for exotic class item ?
whats the setting for my game to look like this? is it just the res or is there a seperate setting
He's playing on an ultra wide monitor. They have different inherent aspect ratios
What’s better for this build, caliban/ cyrtarachnes or inmost light/ cyrtarachnes?
I say Inmost Light since you reduce cooldown of other abilities every time you use one. Me personally I felt I didn’t need Caliban’s ignition fr.
