it's still an epic animation even by current standards.
Back when gaming was much simpler and fun. I loved the introduction of Cao Pi as a character.

Dynasty Warriors 5 is the best game of the series, or at least for the PS2. This game beats Dynasty Warriors 4.

@@kazutobilal7566 base on history they are different age .. zhao yun is far older.. also lubu and zhao yun also not come from same age.. lubu died before zhaoyun became general
@@VinVin21969 Lu Bu died before Zhao Yun became a general yes, but they did briefly meet at Hu Lao Gate. Lu Bu refused to fight Zhao Yun because he was a teenager at the time and despite how he's always portrayed, Lu Bu did have some sense of honor. He wouldn't fight teenage soldiers or women

Cool little fact: Zhao Yun’s moves in this opening later became his permanent DW6 moveset
0:49 -> his running charge attack with True Speed
1:08 -> his weapon deadlock win
1:32 -> his musou attack
That when I was a kid and accidentally pressed the joystick and Zhao Yun went electric and running pretty fast. Truly the greatest discovery ever.
Love that you pointed this out - was the first thing I noticed when I got my hands on dw6 - I still feel like his later move sets are still inspired by this to some degree

My core childhood lies in this game's intro, so good to get to see it again 10 years later
What I love about this opening is that I was able to create my own story behind this scene. Takes place after the fall of Shu, or Shu lost a huge battle that cost the life of Liu Bei. Everyone in Shu is too demoralized too anything, except for Zhao Yun who decides to take the fight straight to the emperor of Wei, Cao Pi. And the rest is played in the op.
It's 2021 and it's still one of the best games I've ever played
DW5 was epic those were the glory days what an amazing opening.
I played this game when I was 5 years old … I still play it today. it was T for Teen but I did not care XD. so yes this is my childhood game.

One thing I liked about this game, is how easy it is to get into, being a bityon masher, you can press the same sequence/combination of buttons, and k.o hundreds or thousands of enemy soldiers. You dont need to pull off well timed combos, just pressing square, square, square, triangle (on PS2),, can have you wipe out opponents quickly and easily. My favourite characters were Ling Tong, Jiangwei, Ma Chao, Zhiang Fei, Zhao Yun Xu Huang, Zhang Liao, Lu Meng, mma, Xahou Dun, xahou Yuan, Sun Ce, Guang Ping. The levels I played in free mode were The Yellow Turban Rebellion, Wu Territory, ChangBab, Xia Pin Mount Ding Jun, Fan Castle, Hu Lao Gate, Chi Bi, Escape from Chi Bi. I love this game, I use to play it 4 -5 hours every day, and it gradually led to my interest in Chinese History,. I saw the movie Red Cliff part 1 and 2 and watched the Dynasty Warriors live action movie. 😀
Probably the best intro in the franchise.
The best part is that this opening alone is basically the reason why Zhao Yun's moveset was the way it was in DW6 and then adapted to the spear moveset for 7-8.
Especially noticeable at 1:32, that's literally the exact same animation used for his musou attack in DW6
And at 1:36...thats basically his 1st Charge attack

This is the first Dynasty Warriors game I have ever played. All of a sudden I had the urge to rewatch the opening cut scene because of how ridiculously awesome I remembered it was 😁. After all these years It still never fails to amaze me.

The real fact is Zhao Yun in this opening is actually on his quest to save both liu bei's wife alone. But eventually at the end he only manage to save only one of liu bei's wife.

Sun Quan, Zhou Tai, Pang de & Cao Pi were my favourite characters back in the day. Sun Quan above all. I liked Lu Bu aswell but could never play as him because he was my sisters favourite haha

The good childhood old days ,That we search for the 4th weapons for every characters ❤ My favorite Valuable Item is Lubu's horse( Red Hare Harness ) the fastest horse❤
Might be wrong but this actually reminds me very much of the fight in Romance of the Three Kingdoms where Zao Yun is meant to singlehandedly fight his way out with Liu Bei's child... by similar I mean I will need to go back and watch it but it looked practically the same to me - pretty cool if they did copy that imo, definitely must of been inspiration for this cinematic at least.

I use to play the shit out of this game with my cousin brother.
a lot in this game tried to make out that chinese legends were op as fk in there history, but this game was just too good to care and still gave us some amazing characters. it was good eventually they got some of the names properly pronounced correctly, it took me ages to say cao cao's actual names pronounced properly as i was use to the old way he was called.
