If it is a multiple of 3+2 you will have an odd number of stitches at the end of row 1 since you start in the 2nd chain from your hook ( in your example 12+2=14 you should have 13 stitches at the end of the first row). So if you did a row of foundation SC it should be done in a multiple of 3+1
