But not all careers need board certification.
Take for example accountants. Many of them do not apply for chartered status.
Those that do, they do it to get higher paying jobs effectively.
Generally speaking these extra certifications are for getting higher paying roles and jobs. Or being able to qualify for extra things.
Many people opt not to do this since they are happy where they're at or they don't need the extra title.
Also for something like a chartered accountant status - you have to pay to keep that status.
A large part of this accreditation at higher levels is generally about money (expertise comes into it yes, but it also shows that many people who apply may be more likely to be applying due to greed, effectively).
Which leads to the question - can those people be swayed by money?

As a person with a clinical psych degree and an ADHD diagnosis, Dr. Spiegal's testimony absolutely W-I-L-D. I've never seen someone go to such lengths to describe psychological and relational concepts with such glaring ineptitude. He doesn't seem to understand impulse control disorders, polysubstance abuse, and the dynamics of comorbidity? He doesn't seem to have a basic grasp on the professional standards of conduct for his field? He doesn't know the basic definition of gaslighting?? If they hadn't spent the first 15 minutes establishing his credentials, I'd have thought they just pulled a Doc Brown impersonator out of his agent's office, threw a suit at him, and walked him straight to the stand. AH's expert misrepresented JD's testimony of his finger position when the bottle made impact. As a certified wound nurse, part of my job is to evaluate the etiology of a wound, in order to provide proper care for a wound to heal. The photo of Johnny Depp's injured finger that was shown in the trial tells the whole story and refutes Heard's testimony regarding Australia. This injury was not caused by any cutting surface at all. The wound was created from the impact of the bottle against the end of his finger, causing his finger to literally explode from the energy of the impact. His finger was also severely fractured almost mid point through the distal (phalange) bone of that middle finger. That fracture is further down his finger than the actual wound, again suggesting blunt force trauma to the finger, NOT a cutting injury. Depp's wound is not symmetrical which would be expected if he had cut off his finger with a knife as Heard's team was suggesting. Their expert witness specifically misrepresented the testimony of where JD's finger was when the injury occurred. Furthermore, if JD slammed his finger in a sliding door as the expert was suggesting, he would have had damage sustained to his finger nail in that type of crushing injury. You can't slam your finger in a door and just hit the tip!

It's just one of the many contrasts between both teams, Johnny's was so throurough in airing out everything that Heard's looked slimy by comparison, like Elaine trying to trick Doctor Curry with the dates of when Amber started seeing Dr. Jacobs and misrepresenting what was in her own notes or just Heard's whole "pledge vs donate" fiasco.

Lord the way I just knew Spiegell was going to be a trainwreck when he said he said he'd published something on DID. So many people who work with DID and OSDD-1 patients ESPECIALLY in inpatient care are just like this guy. I feel bad for the systems who were forced into his care and I hope they find someone better. This guy is a disgrace to his expert field.
Edit: DID is not based on IPV. At all. Its based on multiple accounts of trauma before the age of 10. Violence does not ever have to be included in that trauma, and it certainly does not include partner violence. This man is not credible at all.

    on finger damage witness ...
the testimony of Depp was that he told Aussie Doc that it was injured by an accordion door. then he said the doctor looked at him and stated "that's a high Velocity injury." That suggests the treating physician disbelieved the account of the injured person, which is VERY TYPICAL of abuse victims.

    • @Alexshik12
      @Alexshik12 2 роки тому

Yeah... I am all for a professional in the field to review evidence and come to a factual conclusion, but he is coming under the assumption that the whole bottle would have hit Depp and shatter from the impact on the finger. And that is the only angle he is coming from. To me, it seems feasible, that a bottle was thrown and hit so close to a hand that was already at an angle dangling from the bar, and when it shattered one of the shards of glass flew and severed the finger. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Depp mentioned the bottle hitting close, shattering, and one of the pieces cutting him?

@@Alexshik12 I don't think he did. I think he said it hit, then shattered. But I still agree with you. Depp said she was kinda off to the side. She wasn't throwing straight at his finger from directly in front. And handle bottles of vodka are THICK and HEAVY. I can't believe he disagreed with a bottle impact not fitting the injury. A very thick solid glass with liquid in it pinched his fingertip. It got squished between the bottle and the bar, on impact. I don't understand how he claims that's drastically different from closing a door on it, which he says does fit. His only argument seemed to be the nail bed was fine. Am I the only person who's finger pad is wider than my nail bed? Especially when it's on a hard surface, like the edge of a bar top? I've seen skin rip open on the underside of a toe before the person was running barefoot on a rubber floor and switched directions super fast and the toe had just a tiny bit too much friction. Skin is fragile. It honestly does not take a lot of pressure squishing or twisting to make it split open.

Licensed psychotherapist here w/ 20+ yrs in private practice. 🙋🏻‍♀️
One of the most fundamental & ethical principles in our field is not to diagnose an individual we have not directly assessed, period. We can talk about actual behavior reported by the individual or gleaned from collateral material, but it’s straight-up unethical for this psychiatrist to diagnose Depp, particularly w/ a personality disorder (PD) which is always a complex & very serious assessment process, & to make conclusions as if Depp has been confirmed to have Narcissistic PD. I’m actually shocked w/ all of his experience & times testifying that he would screw-up on something so fundamental to our ethics as mental health professionals. If I were to do something like that it would be grounds for me to lose my license to practice.
I’ve diagnosed a number of clients over the years w/ PD’s, & it’s never a process I take lightly, nor do I ever make that type of diagnosis after just reading their chart &/or seeing the client only one time. A possible exception may occur if that client had already undergone a full psychological assessment w/ testing, & even then, I’d likely defer diagnosing a PD until the 3rd or 4th session precisely because it is such a profound & serious diagnosis & will become a part of the client’s permanent medical record going forward since there are no cures for PD’s. They are always pervasive & life-long. While symptom management can & does occur in many clients who commit to treatment, the PD never fully goes away.

It wasn't until I was explaining my day to day life with my partner to my psychologist that I was told about gaslighting and that's what I had been experiencing - this session was back in 2016. I became so co-dependent, so reliant on him, and I hated myself for it. When Johnny said "You make me so sick of myself" - I related so hard to that. It's a gradual, conditioning, almost grooming-like process. It's so fucking disgusting. A year later and this day of this memorable trial still makes me 😂 😂😂. Emily glitching had me just rolling, along with the Dr. Spiegel odd mannerisms and back pedaling. Hilarious to watch.

Dr. Speigel made me really frustrated as someone with prior substance issues… he makes it sound like if you’re an addict then it’s inevitable that you’ll become violent or something

Its arcaic thinking. Just ridiculous. He's so judgemental and misoginistic almost in how to speaks people he deems inferior

The exact reason I place no weight on his testimony. Substance abuse issues do not make someone good or bad partners, as he tried to indicate . He also left out that AH participated in substance use too…

If they wanted him to be a non-biased expert, they should have never let him hear Johnny’s deposition. He should’ve only looked at the injury if this was supposed to be science based

He seemed credible until he literally broke the Goldwater rule, started diagnosing Depp & assigning motives & diagnostic criteria to all his behavior WITHOUT EVALUATION but basing it on movie performances!!! WTH

My brother had a similar injury when he was loading large rocks in his truck. A rock slip and smashed his finger and the end of his finger “popped open like a squashed grape” as he put it…and his fingernail was still in tact.

My husband did something similar when he crashed his dirt bike.

As an ICU nurse who works with a large interdisciplinary team ...I have never heard a MD ...especially a psychiatric MD speak this way in relation to diagnosis or explanation of pt mental health concerns.

I'm a nurse manager of a facility with a psych unit and dementia for mainly adults from 40 on up with other complex medical diagnoses. I 100% agree! If I had to work with him I would be fearful of his clinical practice if his testimony reflects his testimony. The amount of assessments floor and management nurses need to complete speaks to the amount of assessment physicians need to complete in order to have the evidence to back up diagnoses and the individual's plan of care seems completely incongruent with the actual practice of medicine. It is just odd. If as a nurse I can't even make a nursing diagnosis without eyes on a patient and interview of a patient I am not sure how he (Edit: as a physician) can make an accurate and appropriate medical diagnosis "of fact". Not to mention the baseline of Pirates of the Caribbean!

Yes yes yes. My brain kept screaming it like a church bell that won't stop ringing. Great to hear for Johnny but sadder than ever for Amber. I fear her losing but....

This might sound really odd but I wanted to thank you for covering this.
I survived my own Amber Heard a few years back and have been compelled
to watch this trial in support of Johnny and watching it through your channel
has made it easy and non PTSD inducing haha
You remind me so much of a dear friend I had before the assault that meant
a lot to me and always had my back and subconsciously I find your coverage
safe? is that a thing? Or is that totally stupid to say? Anyhoo... thanks for being
    so cool :)

Emily thank you for being so open about ADHD & dyslexia. My nephew who was bullied by his brothers & at school has ADHD & aspergers. He isn't a lawyer, but he has every truck license you can get in Australia. He injured his wrist (broken twice) & was told he needed a new career & surgery. His boss thought so much of him & saw how upset he was he bought him a truck that he could drive.
