  • I wanted to see if we could buy the cheapest sport bike at the auction just to see if we could rebuild this wrecked bike in just 8 hours. but it turns out that this Suzuki GSXR 600 might be harder to fix than we thought.

    I highly appreciate how honest you guys were with the whole build... so frustrating being an average Joe doing your own rebuild and wondering why everything isn't turning out perfect like in all the UA-cam videos. Reality of the situation is those builds weren't perfect either, it's just that they don't show the imperfections for one reason or another. Your experience with aftermarket fairings for example was classic lol. Been there done that and will probably be there and do that again! I'm not paying as much as the bike value for OEM but you just have to expect broken clips, paint issues, etc and roll with it.

    Had my K1 1000 in bits for the last 6 months because of a fuelling issue, put her back together today and she runs perfectly now after getting a salvaged fuel pump, and relining and cleaning the tank and fresh hoses. My K1 is absolutely mint after the rebuild. Owned this bike for 8 years now, and doubt I will ever sell her on, with only 14.5k miles on the clock for a 21yr old bike, loving these vids

    • @doktermobiel
      @doktermobiel 2 роки тому +1

      The only way to get the skills is by doing it. I've learned it by getting written off 80's stuff (if it failed, I'd get the scrap price for it still and not lose a bunch of money on it) and disassemble , replace or fix and assemble again. After two fails I learned from my mistakes and upped it a step at a time. It's very satisfying to learn tinkering and be able to fix things yourself.

    I don't think I've ever seen this much of a current GSXR 6 frame. The lines of it are quite nice. I think Suzuki could have done more with the body work that matched the line/and shapes of the frame to make the bike look more distinctive.
    That said, this model looks pretty nice with just the upper fairing.
    I wonder if a GSXS 750 is coming that uses more of this frame with a more robust subframe.

    Interesting, I did an '86' Ninga 900 years ago from auction, guy from a local dealer had a big box of speed parts. Spent the winter souping it up and doing body cleanup. Got it out in the spring and eased it down the road slowly getting use to the performance. By the second day I'm doing a buck forty on the way to work, end of the month 185 decided it was too much fun and sold it for a nice profit. Damn fine bike! Yours is a real up grade well done!

    I love your show. After watching nearly a hundred of your episodes, I can say with confidence that you are clearly a quality human being with a huge heart, strong integrity, wonderful sense of humor and a high level of humility. Because of your disclosure about having more experience taking bikes apart than putting them together;.... As a builder , mechanic, and rider of 47 years, I have often been humbled by similar struggles and the knowledge that many things are made much easier once you know the tricks that come from experience or from those who are willing to share it. If I may humbly suggest that you watch a few episodes of your compatriot UA-cam channel " RK Motorsports" . Also a man of professional integrity and a strong work ethic. He does nothing but UA-cam videos chronicling crashed sports bike rebuilds. Usually 20 minutes per bike with a lot of time laps. He seems to have great success putting most of the body work on "one panel at a time" rather then trying to pre-assemble them in sub sections as you seemed to struggle with. They seem to go on much easier one piece at a time and you don't have to be an octopus once the bike is holding the parts in place for you. Keep up the good and entertaining work Sir. In fact, As I finish this, I see that he ( RK Motorsports ) also commented. Thanks to you all for all the entertaining content created on behalf of the rest of us lazy bastards that can barely find time to ride because we are so busy sitting on our asses watching you getting it done.

    Good video guys. I really thought, Sean you were going to say I don't really know how to repair bikes, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time in college. You have actually taken 100 bikes apart. Well now I understand why whenever you get any bike problems more serious than basic maintenance, all we hear is HEY CRAIG. You have to get Craig a cape with a giant C on the front and a mask. Have him kinda jump into the shot everytime you call HEY CRAIG I NEED YOU. You are beyond lucky to have a friend like Craig with all that knowledge. It's a great trade-off with you guys. You two are probably going to be friends for life. I think most of the videos that are the kind that makes people laugh until they pee their pants are the ones with you and Craig only. You two just are naturally very funny together. Craig is a great straight man and you are the jokester. Perfect duo for great comedy because it's really natural and not forced. You both are definitely in your element. Keep up the great work guys!!!!!

    My '98 Honda Blackbird has also mirrors with build-in turn signals. NSR 750 also, earlier in the 90's
