    I made a round bead bracelet and a bracelet with skull beads made from yak bone. I used three strands of Paxcoo Crystal String. This knot's fast, easy, and durable. Holds up well to stretching. 👍 Thanks for the tutorial. 😃

      Yes, this could also be used with non elastic threads.

    It looks so easy when you do it, but I can't get mine to knot either. As soon as I let go of the knot, it just springs undone. If I do get it knotted, the knot comes right undone as soon as I pull it to make it tight.

      Hi Connie. You have to tighten the knot pretty good and you might try a dab of adhesive like E6000 which is flexible when it's cured (if you're using a stretch cord). If you're not using a stretch cord and are using a fiber (nylon or silk) thread, we strongly recommend an adhesive like Araldite or GS Hypo Fabric Cement, as they soak into the fibers and create a better bond. We hope that helps.

      Thank you! I was actually having trouble tying the knot. It actually took me almost a half hour just to tie the knot. Then I did put some glue and a dab of nail polish on it, so I'll see what happens. :-)

      Fire Mountain Gems and Beads I’ve been looking at the threads on your site and need some help. I’m looking for thread to string 3 mm gemstone beads with a 0.5 mm drill hole. Which kind of thread (that’s 0.4 mm) and needle would be best?

    I'm using .8 elastic. I'm trying to practice but my knot isn't staying. I don't have the glue yet but still it won't stay

      We highly recommend gluing those knots - especially with elastic that small - we think you'll find it makes a big difference. Thanks for watching!

    My knot keeps coming back open...I keep trying but it doesn't seem secured.

    • @FireMountainGems

      Did you try the dab of superglue on the knot? That often works.

      Fire Mountain Gems and Beads do I did am overhand knot over the square knot and then put e6000 on it. Seems to be secure now but we will see tomorrow I guess...my cord is too thick to easily hide the bead also...I will have to get smaller cord.

      If you're using a fiber (nylon or silk) thread, we strongly recommend an adhesive like Araldite or GS Hypo Fabric Cement, as they soak into the fibers and create a better bond. Just watch out for accidentally gluing your fingertips together (happens to me all the time....)

      okay!
      If the E-6000 doesn't hold, consider trying the GS Hypo Cement. It works well with smooth surfaces.

    I have a problem with Powercord elastic not holding ANY type of knot. The only elastic that knots for me is Opelon. Yes, I bought the glue, cord, beading board, and needle from you.

      It sounds like the knot isn't tight enough. It requires a strong tug to set the knot.

      Hi Sophie. You might try using a little dab of glue on the knot then. This is an excellent glue to use - www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h206620bs Hope that helps.

    Sadly, I’ve tried and tried this knot with ‘Stretch Magic,’ on pre-stretched cord, it comes undone immediately. There must be another way, it simply shouldn’t be this hard to tie a knot that stays a knot, without unraveling straight away!

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  5 місяців тому

      The stretch cord does have a tendency to come undone. We would definitely recommend trying a drop of E6000 glue on the knot to keep it firmly secured but still flexible. Here is a link to the E6000: www.firemountaingems.com/1949TL.html

    A regular double knot holds better than this. This knot does not stay closed unless you use glue. Why even bother?

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  3 роки тому

      Hi Kelly. The surgeon's knot is used in a lot of jewelry making applications, but there are always other options too. We recommend using what works best for you and your creations. Thanks for watching!
