The World Is a Ghetto is my favorite song by War. These guys are amazing.
That whole album is great.
Thanks Biz for keeping the unmatched diversity of the 70’s contemporary music scene alive and well. 🤘
Ooh one of the best of the 70s. I saw them in concert, there were all colors there, indians, blacks, Hispanics. All loving it.
That's so true about the diversity of the band: the harmonica player Lee Oskar is from Denmark. He has a couple of solo
albums of great harmonica music, too.
and LOTSA of weed clouds, i know i brought some with me!!;)
Woohoo! Freakin LOVE this song. Please do All Day Music next- or World is a Ghetto. You won’t be disappointed in either.
All Day Music is a great suggestion!
"Cisco Kid"
"Why Can't We Be Friends"
💯🔥⚡👏😎✌️
It doesn’t get any cooler than this! Hearing them live in a small club was amazing.
Can't touch WAR! 💯 Started by Eric Burton from The Animals, ("Spill the Wine") but became their own level of bad ass all by themselves. 💯😎
Eric Burdon heard them play and loaned his star power to get them out there, but he had nothing to do with them, and their talent as a band! They were good way before they were "discovered"!
Their song Summer is about the best things happening outside in the summer time.
I think the song came out in 1971. I remember watching the band on Soul train 🚂🚂🚂
CORRECT
Takes me back to the early 70s in my late teen years. Great music in the 60s and 70s, then it started to go downhill.
War is Top Shelf music.
The shorter version that was for radio play didn’t include the intro
such an amazing intro!
Oh WOW ! haven't heard this in a long time . some reactors just play what other reactors play - NOT YOU !
All these years kept The World is a Ghetto album but don't have a phonograph! Fav songs off the album are "Where Was You At", City Country City", "Four Cornered Room", and album title song. Tks Biz!
all 3 fire
Real stand out jam,,,just like beatle in the bog, very underrated.
This song has Funk, mystery, sadness and deep love. God-damn ! What a song!
As a white kid growing up in Iowa, War was my introduction to the inner city. Loved it.
IOWA? really? too funny.
Love War its a whole vibe
WAR is amazing for sure. This one took me back!
Man! I was a little 13yo blue-eyed soul brother, in 8th grade, with my 8-track player and my headphones, listening to my War 8-tracks.
Dam man, memories!
My Nixon lovin' step-dad asked what I was listening to, I gave him the headphones, he shook his head and walked away shaking his head.
This song reminds me of so many great things. Please, more War and more of the same funk and soul. ✌Hi from NYC.
That harmony is tight!! Love WAR!!
I was 16 when this came out, and I loved it. I still do. What a great song, with a totally different beat. They were really on their game with this song.
i was about 14, loved it.
Ah, Biz, man, "The World Is A Ghetto" must be next!
This takes me way back . Thanks
My first time hearing this song. It’s a musical masterpiece.
Incredible song! You're right Biz you don't want it to end. Try All Day Music and Summertime.
Saw them in the early 70's at the Fillmore (West). They were fire!
So cool .
WAR had such a unique and funky sound!
always loved War, the world is a ghetto is a great album. great reaction
I just went to church too, wow I forgot how dope that was!
That's my favorite War song and maybe my favorite funk record. I recommend "The World Is a Ghetto" for your next War song.
I saw them live in Vegas at the Suncoast Casino, and they were riveting !
I haven’t heard this song in years ❤ Love it 🎼🔥🥰
I recall I was in kindergarten when I first heard War on the car radio. Didn't understand the messages but, I totally enjoyed their groove.
I only remembered the title line of this song til now......soooo funkyyyy!
Biz, you can play all the War you get your hands on. There's some good live stuff out there too.
A deeper dive into War will renew your soul and mind. Next try their songs Me And Baby Brother and The World Is A Ghetto and Deliver The Word for starters. These bruthahs!!❤️
Yo Biz........ Check out, The World Is A Ghetto, All Day Music, Four Cornered Room, Deliver The Word, the epic Instrumental, City Country City, Cisco Kid, Low Rider, Summer, Why Can't We Be Friends, Galaxy and many more that are straight bangers! The rabbit hole is deep!
SOUTHERN PART OF TEXAS, NAPPY HEAD,THATS WHAT LOVE WILL DO AND GET DOWN
WAR is my favorite band since I discovered them almost 50 years ago and that I still listen 2,3 times a week
We had very
Diverse music in the 70s which made it great.
The LEGENDARY Iconic War
The music of my youth.
Excellent choice Biz. And you picked the right version with the intro. One of my favorite songs by any artist. The title track is a good song also. Kickass band.
Check out their "Fidel's Dream". Groovy band.
One of the most ACID induced albums they did was
" Sun Secrets ", but most if not all tracks were covers of his originals, but done very differently. Very INTENSE!! and Great!!
Do these 3 - Don't let me be misunderstood.
Ring of Fire.
When I was young.
I believe the title, "Sun Secrets " was inspired by the Jimi Hendrix album Axis: Bold As Love album sleave cover art. Eric was a total nut on Hendrix and searched for years for a guitarist that could play like Jimi. That was a sad endeavour. The Sun on Jimi's album has many secrets, but you have to take Magic mushrooms or something similar to see them.😮❤️🔥✌️☮️
Ring of Fire was originally by Jonny Cash, but Eric made it his own, and I believe was also inspired by the Axis Cover. Jimi was way "far out" but really " far in " inside himself and to understand that for some of his songs, especially on Axis, most people would have to take a psychedelic, or already be "far inside" themselves. This purpose was lost by the late 70's. However the whole point of psychedelics was was just to show you what is possible, not to keep taking drugs, which can screw you up. You have to find the natural way, as the great Souls that came here, such as Krishna, Jesus, Buddha etc. I follow a Great Soul that lives today, that is teaching the same - Bubba Gurinda Singh - or Radha Soami Satsang Beas in the Punjab India. Good luck, brothers and sisters on your spiritual journey here and forever, cause that's what existence or Experience is really about, imo! Love and Peace if you can attain it. 🙏❤️🔥🙏
Incredible. Thanks for reacting. Never heard this one before!
The ONE and only , WAR. 🇨🇦
🎸💯 War is a whole different animal‼🔥
Their funkiness is very cool & they are so diverse‼Thanks, BizMatik, for all the variety that you react to on your channel‼You're my #1 favorite UA-cam reactor‼☮ ❤ 🎶
Love, love, love war ( the group).
I love this stuff. And just listening to that rhythm section, and kind of the cadence of the vocals, it dawned on me that you really should listen to Blessed Are Those Who Struggle by The Last Poets, a black proto early rap set over lots of percussion and they were associated with the Civil Rights Movement. It's fire.
PURE UNCUT FUNK 🤘🏾
War (the Band that brought us "Low Rider") and Tower of Power represent that awesome era where funk and soul dominated with big horn sections. Disco killed funk, and rap was its stripped down derivative. "All Day Music" is my favorite song by War. I was in love for the first time, "rollin in the grass til long after dark" with mi amor. You must check out this song.
"World is a Ghetto" for sure. This band is all kinds of great. They belong in the rock hall of fame.
@1:24 false witness
@3:01 "damn, I low-key really like this"
@4:25 soul clap
@4:39 low-key Harlem Shake
@5:50 this is now my favorite song to chill to and I will play it for all of my friends like I've been knew what was up.
Gypsy Man, All Day Music so many great songs
I'm suggesting All Day Music too!
I REALLY ♥️LOVE♥️ that LAST funky breakdown at the END of the song.. That Rat-tatat-ti-tat...💥🥁💥 Rat-tatat-ti-tat... 💥🥁💥Rat-tatat-ti-tat...💥🥁💥 Rat-tatat-ti-tat...ETC... I could listen to THAT for 15 minutes straight, just that FUNK groove alone... It's dark and simultaneously GROOOOVY as all get out ✅✅✅✅✅👍👍
This is a classic! Excellent!
This is real good !
Best dance tune ever
Incredible War
No doubt about it, definitely all day music 😎
John Mayall did the hand clap in the '60's.
A GROOVE!!!!!!!
Another great song from 1971
To really get funky, Ballero & Cisco Kid
Happy Saturday Biz.
War: You Got the Power
Aww thank you for the memories! Love WAR! Summer is still my favorite..but i like all their music 🎶❤
Love war music ❤❤❤
Get up, stand up
awesome album, saw them live in 75 in LA. You picked the best loooong version
One of my favorite War song, for sure. I'm pretty sure this is what we called Soul Music back in the day. This one goes right up there with "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and "ForThe Love Of Money". If you haven't already done these two...make sure you do the full length studio versions. Soul Music at it's very best!
In my opinion, The World is a Ghetto is one of the finest albums ever produced. A true masterpiece.
Please try Me and My Baby Brother for my brother Jade-o who passed recently. Gracias!🖖🏼
I remember seeing them opening for The Doobie Brothers in Boulder Colorado In Ithink it was 1974???. Anyway they stole the show. I had a pair of binoculars and watched The Doobie Brothers standing in the wings telling them get back out there, they did 3 encores that afternoon. I always respected The Doobie's after that even never being a huge fan of their work.
Another great song! We be soulmates!
WAR is aMAZing!
Still listen to Bolero (long version).
The world is a Ghetto Instrumental Version an all time Favorit of mine👌
The World is a Ghetto- Spill the Wine- Cisco Kid
If you do their song The World is a Ghetto, as has been suggested, it must be the long album version. MUST be.
