Love these guy's my Mother was a fan and I remember her having a couple of their albums on 8 track and we listened to them all the time lol those are some really old memories Thx Tre have a great day...♡
WAR is one of the top 5 favorite groups ever, for me and my girlfriend. I am 32, she is 26. Sometimes we feel like "Fishes out of the wrong time". That 70's music was on another level.
Oh- The Lowrider Band is the real WAR band right now. The band touring as WAR has one original member. LB has 4. They play a few shows a year, usually on the West Coast. See them while you can, folks! Legends.
War was the bomb (no pun intended, lol). Over sampled is right! One of their best songs for sure. Your pops did have great taste in music, except he should have the Isley Bros. and James Brown in there.
This was my childhood, I can't believe it's so obscure now. War, and also Tower of Power. Thank you for finding it and bringing it all up again. BTW.... Curtis Mayfield: Freddie's Dead.
This was one of my most-played record tracks ever. I’m sure I’ve listened to this 1,000 times over the years since the ‘70’s, and I never get tired of it.
Tre, thanks for this reaction. WAR is one of my top ten bands ever. Even managed to get Lonnie Jordan to sign the album cover back in the mid-90's when WAR did a show on the sand at Virginia Beach. I live in a Four Cornered Room, Zoom Zoom Zoom! ;-)
ALL of the youth today need this kind of music and listen to the words of wisdom.. They'd be a lot happier. You have GOT to watch these guys live! They are amazing! It's all here on UA-cam. ENJOY!
I was a kid when this came out--'71, I think? Was kind of indifferent to it until I heard it in my brother's car with all that bass booming. I knew right there that I was going to be a bass-player. At 62, I still play bass--guitar and upright. Loved every minute of it. Thank you B. B. Dickerson! Rest in peace, bro!
The majority of the band War lost the right to tour or record under the name War. So we now have the Low Rider Band. Here's a quick link to "The World is a Ghetto" ua-cam.com/video/rsxFvlbu5Xg/v-deo.html
Dang, we sure had a lot of good music back then in so many genres. I feel lucky to have grown up with all this great music.
Best dance tune ever!

Never heard it sampled. Heard the actual song 1000 times. A few times live.

Some great funky bass in this tune. ☮️
Some good funk bands are Tower of Power and Ohio Players. Only So Much Oil in the Ground, What is Hip. Love Roller Coaster, Skin Tight.
Mandrill....!!

The song reminds me of every Blackexploitation movie lol.
Purple Rain shirt and some WAR? You are speaking my language!
Funk yea
Digginit, check out "Spill the Wine"
They are a funk band like no other. They even play their own instruments and so well at that.

This be my favorite WAR tune!! Infectious Groove!! Similar groove would be a Meters song called Cissy Strut!
War is a very underestimated who never got enough credit for how good great they were.
Very true.

War got hits. I remember my mother playing this and Cisco Kid.
These guys were great. They were in that magical era before radio became segregated.
They were in their own stratosphere! I love em and have for eons!
TP; You Got You Got You Got What I Need, and scare the bitches into liking him....!!! Eddie Murphy classic quote....!! LOL
Praise the Lord! We in church here.
James Brown THE PAYBACK would be a good reaction.
War, Tower of Power, Sly, Earth Wind and Fire, Ohio Players, Zapp ... What the funk happened?
Super great song from an excellent band.
Love me some War.
Need to go back to that Four-Cornered Room. Different level stuff coming from these guys.
Excellent song

Saw War at an out door concert and they were taking a guy out on a stretcher and like it was part of the show, this came on....very dope.
I stiil have a WAR cd in my truck -I know all the words
Your dad really had great taste.
This song remind me of my uncle moe god rest his soul.
Sampled by many, owned by War.
Good whiskey is never good.
"I got a wife and a baby"
great song, no one would write a lyric like that today...!!
it would simply not fit the times.
Excellent song.
This is the Candyman in the Green Stinkin' Lincoln, what's your 20 good buddy>
There's a recent live video version of this on the "'tube" (jaminthevan channel) with Lee Oskar on Harmonica.
Four-Cornered Room, brother. That's what we need next from WAR.
"The horns" are a Saxophone and a harmonica.
