- Episode 5 of the Street Review hosted by Cameron Miles and Justin Jones. There's a debate on who started the Low Rider culture. We look at a band from Long Beach, CA called WAR wh helped influence low riding in California. A group and a song we never heard before.
That song was created in 1975.. War was an awesome group 👏
They used this song in a great Cheech and Chong movie called "Up In Smoke"....hilarious movie and scene with this song in it.
War is a group of multi ethnic members and the singer's varie from song to song. Crack we not round back in the 70s they were just stoned. People were high on life back then. Anyway, War is definitely a band to dive into. You may recognize some of the other song. "Spilled Wine" "Cisco Kid" "All day Music" "Don't let no one get you down" are all great songs by War
Nope no crack in the 70s, mostly organic stuff like Shrooms🍄 and the Devil’s Lettuce👹🥬
The fusion of the Afro/Latino sound was a thing. It was introduced by Carlos Santana in Woodstock’69. If you haven’t yet, react to it’s first introduction to the world. LIVE full drum version of Soul Sacrifice by Santana
War had GR8 music....Now check out Billy Preston. I saw him in concert on sept 30 1974....awesome concert. Two unknown bands opened for him.....now what were their names?????
OH yeah....Rush and Kiss...LOL
Marvin Gaye
Please smoke your weed after the clip, not before...
1975
Heavy metal is completely white.
This generation everything is fucking funny 🤬
No this is made in the 70s son and that's Richard Nixon the former president and they talking about war Vietnam time dude
Mexicans started lowriding, black folks made it mainstream
this song is a homage to chicano/mexican american culture thats why this song is infused with "latino" sounds, you can hear the chicano accent in his words. war is from the harbor area (harbor city, wilmington, long beach, carson, san pedro...)primarily long beach and harbor city which are mostly mexican communities. war is a black group but they are heavily influenced by chicano culture. lowriding is chicano/cholo/mexican american culture that has its roots in the 40s. white people had hot rods, black people had caddies & mexicans had lowriders.
crack was not around in the 70s
That mask was making fun of former President Richard Nixon.
Low riders were originated by Chicanos in the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s to the present, but that bad*ss song was perfected by War, a black group. I know cause I grew up in that time; I was there. The Chicano and the black man share a bond; we feel each other. ✊🏼
they wasn't on crack , back then it was called a natural high'''' a good mood swing'' when you got into the music'''' just like when people be jumpin up and down in church'''to there music''
This song is the Chicano Lowrider National Anthem. I think it's a weed song. This was way back in the day before crack, meth, fentanyl, whatever.
The only music that is purely American is Jazz and Blues. Yes, it was created by Black Americans. From that sprung Rock n Roll, which is credited to Mr. Chuck Berry. Then DJ Cool Herc morphed that into Hip Hop. The contribution Black Americans have had on modern music, not only in the U.S., but the world over cannot be overstated.
There was no crack in the seventies yo ,you need to do your research! Wow ya really that ignorant!!!!!
Latinos was the first ones with the car culture in the 60’s.
Harmonica and the horn duuuhhhh
There's a hip-hop song with this sample that you should react to...the song is called low rider by Kid Frost ft. Latin Alliance
Latinos started the lowrider car culture in the late 40s in California, the song is by a called group War in 1975. Reseach your history young bucks.
You gonna fuck around and get whole different demographic fuckin with this😂, if they on the internet
This was 70's long before crack.
From what information is available, Low Riders originated in the 40's from the Latino barrios, not unlike Zoot suits, which both also became symbols of social statement within the Black communities of L.A. as well. Check out the Zoot suit riots in L.A. sometime and you will find that both communities, plus Filipinos, were unjustly persecuted by government and law enforcement. Low riders and Zoot suits stand as a symbol of pride for all three oppressed cultures.
The Zoot suit, Lowrider, and hip hop culture all originated in the black community and was picked up by other cultures later. The Hispanics were targeted during the riots because they were looking too much like blacks. They had to get them back in line.
War was started by Eric Burdon and was a multi ethnic band. Lee Oskar the harmonica player went solo and made" Our Road"
Eric Burdon did not "start" WAR. That band was already established and had hits before Burdon joined them.
You did not get it.
I first started seeing you guys by the video cz I was listening to this a couple days ago and you guys are funny and awesome, i subscribed👊🏻
From what I've understood about low riding, it started in the 1940's by mexican american vets coming home and utilizing what they learned in the army to tweak their rides into low riders. War is a multi ethnic group that always championed solidarity between ethnicities.
