    You can seal every seam outside with a duct tape. It doesn't matter if it looks awkward but what matters is that it will surely help your heavy bag hold the blows and punches

      @@binaryglitch64 Wow. Yeah, sure wish you could have met him in person. I saw him when me and my wife visited the US. I went out from our hotel to buy a few things from the pharmacy. When I lined up to pay at the cashier - I got the shock of my life!! Grant Imahara was the person in front of me in the line! It was early in the morning and it looked liked he just got out of bed! hahaha. He had paint on his pants and he looked like he had a long night - probably working of some science - engineering stuff. It was very surreal to see him in person - I was a big fan of Myth Busters for a long long time, and there he was just like a normal person standing in line to pay for some pharmacy items. anyway! Cheers to his life!

    • @BuildRestoreRepair

      There is definitely sound when punching the bag. Add to that the required exhale needed when punching and you got yourself the recipe for some sexy noise to disturb your neighbor. :) hahaha. If the wall is concrete you might be fine, but if it is drywall then you might have a problem.

      @@KealaJSmith put a hand full of sand in a plastic grocery bag, place that in an old sock, open the grocery bag such that you can fill it while it's in the sock... fill, tie off the sack, tie off the sock around it... boom tube of sand... tape together like a bundle of sticks... boom you have a weighted core...
      More bag tips:
      want to smoothen the bag... line the inside walls with a yoga mat trimmed to fit... yaga mat too soft for your machismo/manliness/ego ... use a rubber floor mat (kitchen/patio)... too heavy, use saw dust, too light, use sand... not weighted right... put the heavy part higher in the bag than you want it... it will settle as the bag gets used... wanna put nothing but sand... get a bag designed for that... warning it will be rock hard, might as well not use a punching bag at that point... punching trees would work equally as well, but it's free... bag swing too much... shorten the chain, and/or add weight .., why bag swing is bad... cuz if you want to run, go run... cuz it's bad for your rafters, cuz it can hit people and things, cuz it wears on the bag straps/webbing ... and finally just to drive home the first point again, cuz are you trying to chase a bag or work on punching ... don't spend more energy chasing the bag than you do hitting it, or else you should be shadow boxing while running if you wanna run more than hit... cardio is important ... anyways I'm rambling so I'll let it be here... but there's some bag tips for what it's worth. Think this might be good for beginners and kids but not for someone like me who a power puncher the bag didn't last a day. The bag was small to even be consider a heavy bag tie a rope around the bottom of the bag and weights to try to keep it from swing so much but even with all that about 30 minutes in doing some functional work it started to tear. I used Rice fill up the bag. Don't think this bag able to handle sand or rice and probably should only use clothes like what you did.

      Hi! Did u fill it with sand?

    • @binaryglitch64
      @binaryglitch64 3 роки тому +5

      Mine is also the 80 cm model and yes I put in 8 tube socks full of sand... (with part of a yoga mat, and rags)... it's at about 20 ~ 25 keys (that's about 45 ~ 50 pounds) and it seems to be handling the weight okay but it's probably pretty close to it's max... mine didn't come with the paper that usually comes in unfilled bags that says the weight capacity... so I guessed it as standard for a 80cm (4 foot) heavy bag... seems okay so far.
      Never put pure sand in a punching bag until you understand the exception to that rule... (they do make bags specifically designed for that... some already have a ton of padding sewn in, other's are quadruple stitched with the beefiest webbing/straps you've ever seen ... those bags are for pro's and they serve a specific purpose ... they're hard as rock.)
      Never put sand directly into the heavy bag... bag up the sand first... I usually put in in a sock that I line with a plastic grocery sack, fill with sand... tie off the bag then tie off the sock... playground sand is common because it's inexpensive at the hardware store, but since this bag was so small that I only needed like 8 socks worth, I literally just stole some from the beach... just sift it first but the sand is in the core... you'd have to punch threw a yoga mat and a couple few rags to get to it...
      Typically the reasons to put sand are to harden the bag and to add weight, while having too long of a chain is the biggest cause of too much bag swing... it can also be because the bags too light, especially smaller bags like the one we're discussing today.
      Anyways that's probably more than anyone ever wanted to know about putting sand in punching bags... but knowing this will save people from learning the hard way. Cheers.

    My rough estimate at first was about 5 kg's of sand but it was too little so I filled up the volume with some styrofoam and it filled up to 80% of the bag.
    You were right. Sand was really heavy and one of the stitching broke in the middle. In order to fix it I wrapped the whole thing with duct tape. Sand was really REALLY messy too since filling it up was a pain and required aLOT of arm strength for me.
