BMW Z4 3.0si, BMW 130i, BMW 650i, Renault Clio 182 (as opposed to the highly rated EP3 type R), BMW 330i (as opposed to the 335i), Volvo S40 T5 (as opposed to the ford focus ST/RS with same engine) I won't even start on the JDM cars. Too many to list
I would say personally, the Ford Mondeo ST220, didn't sell all too many and it has a 3.0 Litre V6 engine producing around 220 horsepower and having a top speed of 151. Sure economy isn't great but they don't get the love they deserve. And like all fast fords, I reckon these will be future classics.
I'm not really a Vauxhall or Opel fan but I really like the VX220/Speedster a lot, they bring me back to NFS Hot Pursuit 2 as they were two of the first three cars you could drive in that game - the other one of the three was the Series 2 Lotus Elise. By the way, Rich from Conquer Driving used to own a 2001 VX220 which was his track car, JayEmm even reviewed it in 2020 before Rich sold the VX220 on for his 2020 MX-5 ND. Also if I had to choose a car I would say was underrated, probably the 328i E36. My dad used to have a 1996 328i convertible in montreal blue with a navy soft top, although it was an automatic (we had a 318i manual later on which was almost identical). Also, montreal blue should've been available on the M3, if montreal blue had to replace one colour on the M3 though, I'd say it should've replaced midnight purple.
You can get the vw CC with the R36 engine, mechanically its identical to the passat R36 including 4 motion, think the only difference is the passat as slighty stiffer suspension. Exact same performance but cheaper as it isnt badged as an R36 or has no R trim. Perfect sleeper car, only way to tell it apart from a 2ltr diesal is by the exhausts.
For me, one of the most underrated and I had one was the Vauxhall Carlton Diamond Estate. It had the 3.0 24v engine and I had to upgrade the brakes to ventilated disks on the front to stop. I picked it up in Liverpool and had a bit of a dual with a two door V8 Lexus on the A14 back to Essex, the guy couldn’t keep up 😂
Ive had my r36 for about 7 years now and still love it. Ive had the odd comment but everybody thinks its an old passat....which it is....but with a lovely vr6 engine and all wheel drive. Its been totally reliable, very well built and quick enough for me. A bit thirsty, compared to my other car (vw up) but the pros make up for it, so far.
I feel like the Ferrari F50 is underrated, because people pay so much attention to the F40 or other Ferraris from around that era like the Testarossa, but people are like "Eh the F40 is better" when talking about the F50. Love the rims on the F50!
Thanks JB. The Cupra with a manual box (not the DSG), you can always tell a true petrol head! Love practicality of the R36 but has 'attitude' when you want it! Wasn't there a VX220 video game? We looked at the SLK55 but just wasn't practical enough & as we are just our 50's, maybe a bit too low. I like the ISF but somehow, just isn't us. We had to settle on an Audi S5 convertible. It's subtle, has 4 seats, economical, make a nice noise & I can go topless.......All the best.....
My dad has a 1999 Civic MB VTi Aerodeck (estate). I think that might be one of the all time underrated cars. It's got a B18C4 in it, so it can do the miles, and make some power, and revs to 8000. And it's an estate which is just cool. It's got an LSD at the front too, and apparently a very desirable long ratio gearbox (supposedly it's much stronger than the regular gearbox). £1500 and it's lasted we think 11 years with only one failure that left us stranded that whole time. And nobody knows or cares what it is in my experience.
i have a 2015 Infiniti Q50S hybrid 3.5v6, definitely underrated, its quite fast 0-60 5.1s, hardly anyone knows what it is, and good on fuel, its an amazing car for the money.
@HypeXPlayz I live in the Midlands, traveled to the coast, a round trip of about 150 miles with an average of 44MPG, not bad for a car with a 3.5v6 and 360BHP
How highly do you rate the Volvo XC90 Petrols (MK1 2002-2013) 2.5 T5, 3.2v6 and the 4.4v8 I am in the market for one, and just wonder how you rate them 🤔
Alfa guiletta is always skipped as a hot hatch..drive the 1.7T (: put it against the common big names. It'll hold its own...sticking with the understated theme.
The Cupra R has a downside for uniqueness - that bodykit is the BTCC one that I think was an option on basically any spec. I know someone with a 140hp Reference Sport with it and there's a 105hp diesel with it on Autotrader now! Does look great though. Most underrated car...perhaps not on this channel, but it could genuinely be the GS450h still, I just Googled "best sleepers" and people mention the Ford S-Max or Mercedes V-Class yet not the GS450h that's twice as fast, even most "petrolheads" writing those lists don't know what it is 😄 The Rover 75 V8 is worth a mention for the same reason. Wasn't Bond's DB5 actually a DB4 with a switched badge?
Mine is a ml500 amg trim with factory body kit and 21 khan alloys. Its black on black with tints. So cool. Im 61. I love it. Btw its 2003 with 15300. No its not for sale.
China is becoming relevant due to the brilliant electric vehicles that it produced (like the Nio EP9), but the country’s homemade ICE cars are highly underrated For instance, the Lynk & Co 3+ It’s a car made by the Geely-Volvo merger and it’s a proper sports saloon Unlike the regular model, the + version sports an engine with 254 hp, 350 Nm of torque and a body kit to match all that sportiness. Thanks to Forza, the car is becoming relevant But there are others as well. The Hongqi H9 is a locally made luxobarge and it comes with a supercharged V6, which is becoming rare, as superchargers are mostly associated with V8s (exceptions are there however, like the Corrado VR6)
Vw 2 litre petrol engines suffer from water pump leaks as the inlet manifold is plastic, ask any Golf R or Audi S3 owner. Aircon condensing radiator failures also common. Seat not as nice as the S3 in looks or interior.
FN2 is so-so, but it’s sedan counterpart, the FD2, which was an Asia only model, was a force to be reckoned with. It also had a Mugen version with even more power than the standard one.
@@jaikai4989 You can, but you can get a lot that won't without major work as well. What I meant really was just that at that price you can't really pick a brand/model so a JB video would be meaningless. Anything under about £3k now and you're buying based on the condition, mileage and history of the car. At £750, a well maintained Land Rover will be better than a badly maintained Lexus...ok that might be pushing it, but you get the idea 😄
Or just in any body spec not just touring. Everyone went crazy for M3's on most generations but usually the best all rounder was the model just below it I.e. E36 328I, E46 330i, E92 335i etc. Okay maybe not the E92 because the M had a V8, but on most others. F80 too
passat cc 3.6 is more common then the r36 models the sedan is the rarest with very limited production numbers the estate is more common but the cc is most common one
@@driver4528 have you checked online how many there are? Because on auto trader there are 10 passat r36's and 0 passat cc r36. There are definitely more (saloon and estate) passat r36's than the passat cc r36 😂😂 we are living in the uk by the way
