The original paint job looks so much better than the flat wrap. Big balls to unwrap it, always a risk. But glad to see it turned out well for you! Good site as always
Wraps generaly wont hide much, if anything it will normally magnify imperfections, even if prepped before you will see the paint contour or flat spots in the paint surface once the wraps been applied, yes you have to look closely and will show easier on a gloss wrap, matt can be a bit more forgiving but wont hide anything as such However sometimes you can get away with different colour panels but depends on the colour of wrap... this grey would have hidden different colour panels easily, as much like paint the primer colour will affect the top coat colour so if wrap a black panel next to a white panel in say a yellow (any lighter colour) then they will end up 2 different shades Again some paint can have a weakend laqcuer coat and sometimes may pull this from paint upon removal, likewise any aftermarket repair work/resprayed panels especially if removing cold... its essential to have the surface warmed gently to soften the glue to help release the wrap from paint... ideally acclimatise the vehicle for 24hrs first so the panels are all upto temp as such, you were lucky not to pull paint on this one... especially the side in the shade, being black.. well grey then the paint is a more stable base than say a red car where you will most likely encounter issues unwrapping... i started wrapping/vinyl application about 22 years ago, pretty much when wraps first hit the market and recently moved my company just down the road from you on love lane so feel free to pop down if ever have any wrap and vinyl related quiries Love watching the channel and tell Dan his Cube looks awesome too 😎👌
Hi Bob. I had the same problem on my XJ. I used the same wipes as you, which worked well, but either side of the central screen was giving me problems as it was quite a large area. I found a spray called Sticky Stuff remover, which worked really well. I was a bit worried about spraying the buttons, but no harm was done, and it cleaned the buttons as well.
Top wrap removal tip for you Joe: don’t use a heat gun, use a wallpaper steamer without the plate on the end of the tube and “waft” steam across the vinyl from about 30cm…doesn’t overheat the vinyl so it is more likely to come off without tearing so much.
Liked the video. You might finding it more satisfying to use a a hand held steamer to de-wrap cars. it is so much easier and safer, as there is less chance of damaging the paint. We de-wrapped a T6 van in 40 minutes with a steamer.
Well Joe, either I’ve been to the pub on the way home ( which I have ) or you lot went to the pub before you put the Range Rover decals on the front and the back 😂😂 top job though fellas. Just one thing as I’ve got one of these myself your top boot lid is out of line it’s a common fault just take the roof spoiler off and there’s four bolts to loosen to realign if you don’t it starts to chaff where it closes
I think you did the right thing my guy….1. because it looks better and 2. because anyone looking to buy it would have the same fears…wondering what the paint looks like underneath the wrap!!! Definitely the right thing to do…I believe there’s more chance now of selling it!!!❤
Happy Days! glad the gamble paid off for you, also a nice task to get a fair few of the team involved with together, definitely sell for more now i reckon 🙂
It was worth doing Joe it just needs a good single stage machine polish now to get rid of the swirl marks in the paint, sure it will great once its done Good luck.
The 20” Venom wheels on my X351 were painted in “Shadow Chrome”, and if I could keep away from kerbstones, they’d still look lovely(!). I hate black (or dark) wheel colours, and that RR in that colour would look great with a similar effect…
So much better with the wrap off, I liked the Nardo Grey primer look on a few sporty Audi's when it first appeared but makes a lot of other cars look cheap. The Range Rover is a car that oozes class in dark metallic colours. Definitely the right choice to remove it!
yesterday I saw an identical colour combination at the hand car wash. Not sure if it was wrapped but it had the same black gills, light grey body and black roof. So maybe yours was wrapped to look like that spec?
Also I have a story about wrap. Bought a 420 off e b a y and it was wrapped black. We wanted to remove before sale get it polished (supposed to be blue). Unwrapped it and exactly as you were fearing it had a white wing on, and 2 red doors. Nice😅luckily the parts are only cheap was 800 to paint them found the parts for 200 for lot.
Hello from Ireland again Joe. I wasn't happy with you unwrapping this Range Rover, but you got away with zero damage. I was Cringing watching you all lol. And it looks like a different vehicle. And it looks far better in the black. That Grey looked so obvious that it was wrapped, bro. Great choice Joe. Well done Guys 🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Big balls to unwrap it, always a risk.
But glad to see it turned out well for you!
Good site as always
I haven’t watched the whole video yet but calling it now. I think it’s a Range Rover 😎
Your powers of observation do you credit....
😂😂😂
That was a car well wrapped but the original colour looks ace . Good content and risk paid off! Well done.
Is it just me or is Dan looking more like Mario every day lol
Hi, I'm looking for a Matt Grey Range Rover, do you have one in stock?
I’ve still got the bits of wrap, I could try to stick them back on? 😅
@@ShiftingMetal OK Cool, looking forward to that video! 🙂
😂😂😂@@ShiftingMetal
😂good one.
🤣
Added a few quid to the sale price peeling that wrap off, looks loads better!
So much better with the wrap off can't understand why anyone would want a primer grey
Absolute shite choice of so called colour.

Removing that tat wrap just added value to it a lovely original colour everytime 👌hope the pinkys heal soon 😂

Better with the wrap off, wheels need a proper refurb, maybe metallic grey? I'd also go back to silver badges/letters
Top wrap removal tip for you Joe: don’t use a heat gun, use a wallpaper steamer without the plate on the end of the tube and “waft” steam across the vinyl from about 30cm…doesn’t overheat the vinyl so it is more likely to come off without tearing so much.
I did think the grey wrap was okish, but not really outstanding. But after the reveal, I much prefer it in black. Very desirable 👍
Greatly better unwrapped. Personally I would like some chrome on it but it's personal.
Much better back to factory looks more modern now
32K views in 6 hours. Great effort. The time you've invested in the channel is definitely paying off. Keep up the good work!

Great trick!
Definitely silver wheels , it will contrast well with the paint.
Original colour looks superb! A big win Joe 💪🏻
Looks tons better ! , definitely the right choice Joe !

Looks amazing in original colour 👍
Car looking great , much better with the wrap removed , hood effort lads 👍
Joe, that was a good call. The car looks 10 x better. Great job. 👍🏻
Clearly they were a big fan of your mugs, I love my BM mug. It looks so much better un wrapped. Have a great week Joe and team.
Loving the unwrapped RR - just need wheels refurbished back to alloy then it'll look perfick 😊
Wrap off looks well better. Classy colour as well.
I think you did the right thing my guy….1. because it looks better and 2. because anyone looking to buy it would have the same fears…wondering what the paint looks like underneath the wrap!!! Definitely the right thing to do…I believe there’s more chance now of selling it!!!❤
Looks way better with the wrap off. Good job.
A well wrapped but the original colour looks ace . Good content and risk paid off! Well done.
That tailgate alignment 😂 standard JLR for you
It happens over time due to the weight but easily fixed though at least it doesn’t have to stay like that 😅
Happy Days! glad the gamble paid off for you, also a nice task to get a fair few of the team involved with together, definitely sell for more now i reckon 🙂
Good job, my first RR wa Santorini Black, fabulous colour.
Looks much better in its original colour Joe. Good work
Thats paid off big style and added value to the car,,,,well done
Before I actually watch it all I’m at 1:50 and I think the paint work gonna be ok man!!👍
Did the Range Rovers Wrap Cover rear end damage.?
As the Lines dont match up on the tail gate
Love it in black compared to the undercoat grey Joe. Need to get those wheels back to silver and that will sell.
It was worth doing Joe it just needs a good single stage machine polish now to get rid of the swirl marks in the paint, sure it will great once its done Good luck.
Much better with the wrap off 🙌🏼
It looks way better without the wrap and the causeway grey looks beautiful..😊
Looks a thousand times better.
De-chavved instantly, looks great now 🎉

Looks amazing in the original paint, definitely a good call taking the wrap off 👍👍
the panel/boot alignment by the damage is classic Range Rover
Glad taking it off wasn’t a big mistake, it looks amazing and Im sure you can paint the one blemish. 🏆
Thanks to you all, really enjoyed that. Good luck with it
So much better with the wrap off, I liked the Nardo Grey primer look on a few sporty Audi's when it first appeared but makes a lot of other cars look cheap. The Range Rover is a car that oozes class in dark metallic colours.
Definitely the right choice to remove it!
Well played. Good decision. Always enjoy the channel & content. Best wishes 😊
100% better in its original colour. Love the colour
Amazing: working door locks and transmission?
That wrap looked like grey primer, grey met is a cool colour.
looks great now! think we drove past the day you recorded this? we were staying at Northam Farm just down the road!
yesterday I saw an identical colour combination at the hand car wash. Not sure if it was wrapped but it had the same black gills, light grey body and black roof. So maybe yours was wrapped to look like that spec?
Good hair dryer better than a heat gun.... the later can easily damage paint if not very careful..
Looks better without the wrap 👍🏻
Try using a wallper steamer on the next one it makes life very easy. We use them for de wrapping HGV's
Great job Joe. It looks mint.
It looks soooo much better! It will fly out.
The raps protected the paint. Shined up will look like a new car. Lucky you.
It looks so much better in its original format. A wise choice to take that discussing wrap off.
Without wrap ! By far the best
Hi I think you were lucky! Definitely better in the black, Best of luck 👍
Good experiment 👍
Definitely needs the silver bits including the wheels
It will pop the colour
Great video Joe. Really enjoyed that 👍
Looks great.
Wow! It looks a million dollars now....well done on taking the risk....it looks so classy now! ❤
It looks stunning ❤
Ye paint work was nice actually just that little spot on the back light needs a little work but all good all rounder realy!!👌👍
That's much better Joe, what a beauty!
The car looks so much better without the wrap in my opinion.
Silver wheels would make that, love a dark car with silver wheels. Very clean look
Excellent video - I now know to never attempt to remove wrap, always get someone else to do it😂
Origional colour is so much nicer. With some silver wheels and the brushed silver trim/lettering that will look like a decent car!
Joe on Tough Mudder...yeah it was like going on a picnic
Also I have a story about wrap. Bought a 420 off e b a y and it was wrapped black. We wanted to remove before sale get it polished (supposed to be blue). original paintwork is by far the best
Looks amazing with the wrap gone ☺️
Looks good in original paint
Looks 100% better mate👏👏👍
Definitely looks better
defo worth doing looks so much better brave to attempt it but paid off😊
I like the all-dark highlights on the car and always popular with debt collectors and bailiffs etc.

Looks way better now.
Looks brilliant 👌
That looks lovely now
Nice video looks better with out the wrap!!
Definitely looks better without the wrap 👌
Much better now the wrap is gone! Next on the list for me would be to de-black the grill and badges
Joe you have taken the risk and it's paid off for the better if helps now to sell it then it's a win win !! Good luck
Deffo looks better with the wrap off.
Joe …. Can you buy an Alfa 166? I’ve always loved them but always been nervous to buy one 👍
Looks far better than nice one. 👍👍👍👍
Looks awesome unwrapped but that was a good quality wrap
Looks loads better
great teamwork de-wrap, glossy black powder coating of alloys next to put a real shine on things?
Think it had some work done on the back end as the lines on the boot sits lower than the quarter. Nice looking motor never the less
Lovely vehicle now and it’s a lot better colour as far as I am concerned
