I recently purchased one of these and could not be happier. Purchased second hand but a full set and in perfect condition. It feels amazing on your wrist and is gorgeous to look at. Dated January 2021, it costs retail from Rolex £13,600, I paid not much more than that but had to spend a lot of time shopping around and researching prices as they can vary massively (I saw a couple for £22,000+). If you can find one for a price near to the retail price then buy it, you won't regret it. Is it a good investment? only time will tell but I feel confident that it will show you a greater return than the money being in the bank!
absolutely badass in person. Really good proportions and in the sun you can see the dial is Matt black. Looks very vintage, nautical in this two tone. A sleeper, well not exactly, but had for retail or just under. If you can wear a pelages 42, you can wear an SD43.
I would usually Cringe at Two Tone watches...but this piece is Gorgeous. Your style of Reviewing made the watch all the more desirable. GREAT content 👍🏽
Great video. My AD surprised me with this from the back room yesterday evening. It was a choice between this or the 37mm Yachtmaster, and this won the day. Unexpected surprise but fantastic!
Nice review, but one little detail I noticed: There is a difference in the dials: the sub dial is shiny, the SD dial is matte. I am lucky to own a tt sub black dial and this tt SD, so that's why I noticed..
Love your outstanding review! Great to hear all this history of the Sea-Dweller and also some down-to-earth reasons for Helium Escape Valve. It is a beautiful watch. And I applaud Rolex for having making it available in two tone!
My AD called today to inform me that this beauty has come in 2 to 3 months earlier than anticipated which really caught me on the hop but it will be on my wrist soon enough, I can’t wait!
Thanks for review. Actually, I got one at the retail price from Rolex AD at the airport. Lucky me. Don’t expect to have it as I haven’t done any research about this watch before. But, when the nice SA told me that he had one in store. I didn’t bother to answer YES for it. 😅
Great presentation to the two tone Rolex seadweller! I own an SKX among other watches and you clearly showed how well the flagship of Seiko vs ROLEX’s Titan compare from one another. Eventually I will buy the two tone Seadweller, even though I own 44mm seadweller. I enjoy big watches because I have a 8 inch wrist. I get a kick when I wear my 46 mm Breitling Super ocean and it looks like I’m wearing a 40mm when compared to how I see people wear their 40mm watch on their wrist. 😂
Good explanation. I have the same Rolex in a combination of black and gold.I don't know the exact year at the moment, but I think it's 2007 or 2017.Because it doesn't have a cyclops eye above the date display uninitiated amateurs think it is a Rolex fake but I don't have all the certificates and it is original .These watches are very rare and increasingly valuable especially for collectors. The watch works as it should without a problem.
I just bought this exact watch from my local AD as they "by chance" had a brand new one in the store. Either way, I LOVE it!!! but ouch at $24,100.00 after taxes....this is not a cheap piece.
I just saw the two tone sea dweller in my AD this week. I cannot believe seeing a sea dweller under the glass case in this day and age. Sure they are out but rare. I'm waiting for the sport watch GMT or SUB. This watch is a piece of art work. Good for you.
The black and yellow is a killer combo! The history behind the piece is also impressive. Would I get one though (money no object of course) - probably not. Way too big. Unless you are a mixed-gas environment diver, get the sub - much more wearable and elegant. Even if you were, would you take a super expensive gold piece with you? Even though I like the look of gold, it is completely out of place on a down to business tool watch. Great review as always mate!
I think in the context of saturation diving it makes even more sense. Those guys spend most of their time in the tube, reading books primarily. Why not have something pretty to look at when you check the time while earning 6 figures in a month?
Wonder if Rolex would ever make one like this but with a blue face? I love my 2 tone Blue but at 40mm, it looks and feels small on my big wrist. Just got the James Cameron and love the size of it. perfect. Now I just need a dress watch like this...
A good review with some great back story. A Submariner on steroids. It is most definitely an attention grabber in steel and gold almost to the point where it will attract the attention pf someone who would want to liberate it from the wearers wrist and re-home it.I guess you'd be fine if you were a martial arts black belt with a string of gold medals. In steel I would consider it assuming I had the disposable cash and could justify it.
haahha yes it does grab attention even more so in person. a beauty for sure. GOLD is delicious! But as well I don't want the attention and would never buy even if I had the $$$
I tried buying a Sea Dweller from a few Rolex AD. They all tell me I need to get on their waiting list. I feel rejected all the time. I mean I have the money on the spot. Seems like they don't want my money.
The only ROLEX model that's kinda worth the hype. Unbelievable specs but still too shiny. All new Rolex models fall so far away from the originality of the ones that came out in the 60s and 70s.
Rolex in 1967 had the 'He' escape valve available only to commercial diving companies like COMEX. Doxa in 1969 was first to make it available to the public. From the recent article "Deeply Misunderstood: The True Story Behind The Helium Escape Valve"
Sorry that does not fit together. A tool watch with gold. Not that I would not find the combination good, but what pro diver would go diving with such a bling.....
As ever, great review. But the watch... No. Dude, triggered! The Sea-Dweller was The King. The ultimate all-round pro-diver only equalled in functionality by the less versatile Seiko Tuna. It reached its peak with the SD4K 116600. But this horror? Wrong, wrong, wrong! 43mm: wrong, cyclops: wrong, bi-metal: so wrong! The last Rolex pure tool diver sold down the Insta-bling, emerging market, luxury khazi. On an equal awful footing with the bi-metal Explorer. Sad. More Scarface than Bond.
Yeah I understand people don't like gold for a tool watch. I remember Casey neistat got a full gold Rolex submariner and he completely shredded and destroyed it pretty quickly cuz he used it while doing all his work to some people full gold can be a tool watch because they're so loaded it's like nothing to them. The watch look like it had over 200 years of use within the first year. As long it's still functional which this thing is very capable but I do agree I wish it was 40 mm.
@@EscapementWatch Funny thing is, I quite like a blue dial, gold Sub! The ultimate FY watch, but sort of funny in its ridiculousness. But a bi-metal? Whooah, consider me triggered! Literally the worst material for a bracelet (steel rubbing gold - er, duh). I guess for me the SD is kinda sacred, like the Explorer. At least with the bi-metal Explorer the rest of the watch is true, but with the SD they butchered the size and added the monocle. I'm strangely looking forward to a gold Deepsea - mainly to ps off the Bluesy simps, but also as final confirmation that Rolex have abandoned taste and sense!
haha yeah I can see that point of destroying the size and added a cyclops but it is their watch and that's how they feel it should evolve I guess. I hope to see a 36 explorer one day. I don't think anyone who buys it will actually explorer anything except a couch so i'm ok with the bi-metal. :P

im really suprised how well that watch sat on your wrist. i would have thought it would have been miles too big.
yep its surprised me as well

Just bought mine, the watch is very good.
congrats bro!!! Wear in good health!

I got this last June and I really really really love it!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Antanas TS get with the times man🙄

Just waiting on the call from the AD for mine! I’m watching your video a few times a week 🤣🤣🤣👊
You should get the call soon
@@EscapementWatchHa! You were right!👊
Great review as usual! I prefer the all steel version with the red text though. Lucky enough to own that one.
Sweet! But yes Two-tone models are always less popular
@markmatthewnjo. Me too!
A real man's watch.
good review something you fail to mention its a brick on the waist top heavy its walking around with weights
I wonder if I'd be able to frolic with that...considering how heavy it is? Great to see it on the channel💪🏻
I think so! Yea a real beauty happy to have it for a bit. Wears surprisingly well.
What a watch. I wonder how many S&G Sea Dwellers actually taste sea water, let alone 1220m of it.
Hmm maybe 1 LoL
A pro diver sponsored by Rolex to wear on lol
This is the ideal size, my James Cameron Deepsea is 44mm x 18mm and is a clunky big hunk of steel on the wrist! Time to swap I think….

I was lucky to get this from my local AD for RRP. Any idea what’s the market value on this watch..
24k Canadian dollars it sold for I think
Just got this one retail🔥
GRATS!
I'm trying to find out exactly how many grams of 18k gold are in this watch. Any idea???
500
Man your channel is awesome, how did I not come across you sooner!
Welcome aboard!
The review is awesome.
Yeah, that is really a nice watch.
oh yessss
No ar? What does it mean ?
'Anti-Reflective Coating' on the sapphire

It is the game of Rolex. Usually you must buy less desirable models or jewelry from the AD to be put on the list and get it fast.
I know this sounds crazy but even in fantasy if it was offered at the same retail price as the steel I would pick the steel🤷🏾♂️
Make's sense this is a loud option that I know isn't as popular as steel.

Should have put it up against the MM300!!!! 🤤
You are actually incorrect about Rolex creating the helium escape valve. Doxa created the valve.
Rolex in 1967 had the 'He' escape valve available only to commercial diving companies like COMEX. Doxa in 1969 was first to make it available to the public. From the recent article "Deeply Misunderstood: The True Story Behind The Helium Escape Valve"
Face off with MM300!
I orders same watch and still waiting from
Rolex
Sorry that does not fit together. A tool watch with gold. Not that I would not find the combination good, but what pro diver would go diving with such a bling.....
But it's a luxary tool watch...if we're going to go that direction, everyone should just wear a g shock or a dive computer.
Wow

I was 1st guy to like the Video. Wonder whose the one who 1st to unlike?
I rather buy 4 grand seikos
And watch their value drop like a stone in the ocean….😂

Nailed it!

Why are you wearing gloves if it’s your watch?
The colorway is ugly!
fair enough
Lose the gloves.
nice watch but gold isn't my taste at all. And I think it is a little too thick
