If I was going to go for a Rolex right now, this would be the one! It is just so unique, not only in the world of Rolex, but in the world of sports diver watches. Nobody else would ever dream of making such a robust dive watch with this depth rating, in two tone. Just brilliant!
Killer piece. More of a round look than the sub. The fully graduated bezel really pops in gold and the matt dial vs gloss is a great contrast The watch wears surprisingly well. I'm a 6.8 in wrist and I'm very happy. The key is the dial isn't huge. It's actually smaller than that on an explorer 39. Yellow gold suits the nautical theme. Tool watch in gold? Cmon, all Rolex are luxury time pieces period. Yellow gold is cool especially when it's not "cool"
I really was not that much of a fan of Rolex I wear mostly AP watches as I have a big wrist. I found Rolex to be much too dainty and small for my wrist. That is until I bought this particular watch and I love it. it does not look overly big on my wrist and it is a good tool watch and it is fine with the yellow gold it gives it a very beautiful luck and I absolutely love this watch
I have this Two Tone 43mm Sea Dweller and the red letter 50th anniversary 43mm, I highly recommed the Sea Dweller for us bigger fellas, and the Skydweller 42mm as a dress watch
18 K in a 2 tone seems reasonable to me. A case made of 18K would make no sense to me at all. Yes, I would still dive with that watch if I could afford to purchase it!
I just bought this watch a couple of days ago! I love it!! The sub I tried on was too small in my opinion. Couldn't find the stainless version anywhere so I went with the two tone version.
This is on a totally different topic, but perhaps you or a viewer can answer a question for me. I just bought a new Datejust with the mother of pearl dial. The dial is a $2k premium. Why is the premium so much? Especially considering I see other watches offer mother of pearl with no premium attached? Wish I would have asked this question before I made my purchase.
The idea that these watches are "tools" is completely delusional, real divers don't even use watches anymore today, let's be honest they are status objects and TT Rolex are going to explode on the market, some models already have a waiting list on.
I dont know any divers, maybe youre right but the point is these are made to diving specifications and can last to the depths stated, and the general wear and tear that goes on that environment where the watch will get bashed onto objects and equipment
tony, what do you think of breathing chronomat 44 mm, the model is soon outgoing, I loves this model, but I'm scared of scratches, cause its high polished, have you owned this watch? does it really get easily scratched and its obviously?
Nice video mate. I think it's a lovely watch. Did it need 18k gold adding? Absolutely not. Yes it's extravagant but you could argue most watches are. But you gotta enjoy them 👍
@@Narrowcros well some of us wear cubans and cubans bracelets I can't have a steel watch on while I walk around in 9k worth of gold no I'm not a office worker so I can be super flashy all day everyday
Picked up a Panerai from Bernard not too long ago based on your recommendation. Had a great experience and would definitely deal with them again. Thank you.
rolex divers are really good designs, but the "homages" *cough* rip offs *cough* have taken the shine away from their watches for me. It's like you've seen that classic design so much it's old.
Actually it's a good thing. It helps Rolex to keep innovating new designs or better movements. If they don't some other class company will take the lead?
@@davenolan5709 im afraid thats just not how it transpures in real life. They just make ever so slight improvements between releases. Mpst causual watch enthusuasts would not be able to tell apart the difference between watches from now and 10 years ago
Invicta has a beautiful line of 40mm to 48mm watches. Invicta watches have well machined case's, exhibition case back and a hackable Seiko movement that keeps up with the high end pieces. All this for $82.00 with free shipping on Amazon. Who could want more?
what's the difference between 18k on a sea dweller or a sub i dont get it it looks cool. iits not like a professional diver would by a sub or a sea dweller to dive in especially when it costs like over 10000 dollars. divers use dive computers these days.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Traveling like crazy for work and now I'm in the process of moving lol. Once things settle a bit I'll try to come back more. I enjoy this hobby.
If you are over 6 foot a 40mm watch is too small for a man's wrist. That being said the two tone is tacky and kinda goes against the aesthetic of the SD. Stainless steel 43 or 44mm and you have a proper mens watch
I think both the SS and the 18K versions are nice. Since I already have a white gold Lange and a two-tone Rolex Datejust 41, I’d probably choose the steel. But I already have a Sub (116610LN) so I can’t say I’ll ever get this watch.
Oh yeah I'll keep it. I had it checked, it's authentic Rolex except for the bezel insert. I bought the watch on the internet from a dealer in California, no box, no papers and now I find I need to get the insert changed to a Rolex one. That'll cost a bit. I bought the watch for $5500, so if I get a box, the little books and other crap, get the insert changed and generate paperwork from Rolex for a genuine service it'll be a solid value. I'll still never sell it.
I would imagine Rolex knows they will sell if they make it, so they made it. Personally, I would not want gold on any watch. I think it looks terrible. The Sea Dweller is actually nice, but I could never justify that price.
The loanshark’s watch. Comes with brass knuckles, a switchblade knife, and a gun. Well made so you can get into a scuffle with it on your wrist without breaking it. Tool watch vs tool’s watch perfectly illustrated.
No diver uses any Rolex or Omega etc for diving in the 21 st century That’s why gas release buttons are ridiculous as well they are in fact anachronistic
They may as well have gone the full 18ct yellow or rather 18ct white Gold route and made a Smurf on steroids. Could call it the Marvel Comics 'Silver Surfer'. Rolex 904L steel stratches easily but is more corrosion resistant than AP and Patek 316L steel which is the same or higher RRP to a Rolex 18ct Sports watch and 904L corrosion resistance approaching that of Gold. Think your Spanish Dubloons ship wrecked in the Caribbean Sea for century’s and re-surfacing looking as bright as the day they slipped below the surface of the Caribbean 400 years ago. The problem is Rolex Quality Control, the reality doesn't match the hyped and highly promoted fantasy. I know and so does this You Tuber:

The whole luxury and practicality collide theme is utterly lost on me. Want luxury, buy a gold date just. Want practicality, by a steel sports model. Want both, then buy both. Don’t try to force everything into one watch. Seadweller was previously my favourite model because unlike the Submariner, it was fully focused. So why make it two tone? Why give it gold? This totally contradicts all that was previously great about the humble Seadweller, and proves that these days Rolex are far more marketing machine and far less focused precision watch makers. Seriously, if you are going to depths below that of what the Submariner can achieve you do not need a gold bezel you want solid steel. These two tone variations work well on some models but on the Seadweller it is just overkill, and this version of the SD is the sort of purchase for someone with more money than taste, the kind of bloke that wants chrome rims on a stripped out track day Lotus Evora.

@William K youre an idiot
Yup
@William K just your mother.
I'd prefer the sea dweller over the Sub!
solid gold would be much more practical.
I bought one because I know i will never see another in the wild. Too many bluesy fanboys out there.
I love it - so much just bought one from the AD here in Atlanta; 3 week waitlist.... very happy with the purchase
Just bought it absolutely love it.
The 43mm gold separates the men from the boys.
A fantastic edition this 18k Gold SeaDweller, I know I’m loving it!! I hope one day I can find the money to buy it!!😉😉👏🏻👏🏻😍😍

Great review! 👌👌 side by side, I would choose the non-gold version but both are just gorgeous 🔥
You changed the date when the hands was between 9pm and 3am you bad boy.Nice video
It was probably, "We can't make $11,050 Sea Dwellers fast enough, let's sell them $16,050 ones!"

This watch gives the sub-mariner 52 swift kick in the ass and its puny size compared to a man size
That watch is badass
Try to buy one from your AD. Another watch people can’t actually get hold of.

Get in the Ocean with that shiny seadweller but once it gleams sharks dig it.
People over emphasize the wrist size and forget the upper arm size. Basically, you need to do some strength training to pull it off. Lol.
Exactly, too many lazy guys suffer from a chronic case of "bitch-wrist syndrome".
