I would take the no date Sub over the other two all day. The 124060 is the best watch in their total line up imho and has been for some time. . Ticks so many boxes at a relatively affordable price by Rolex standards. Proper tool watch. Aesthetically pleasing without the cyclops. Elegant. Simply timeless.
Have them both. Like kids you shouldn’t pick a favorite but the Deepsea is my favorite by a hair 😎 Am I the only one who seems to appreciate these beauties a little more when you see them on someone else’s wrist?
I just picked up my 136660-003 4 days ago and I love it. Rolex scratches very easily. Small wrist, wears well and comfortable. Better than Omega Sea Master.
The trick with the Deapsea is to just have it tight against your wrist. Mine doesn't budge. Yes it's still kind of top heavy but it doesn't move. I absolutely love this watch and I can wear it all day with no problem.
I don’t get why people go on about the size. Other manufacturers- panerai, breitling etc have bigger, heavier watches but you never get any negative. I don’t have the biggest wrists but feel my deep sea fits me great; I bought a root beer and it felt far too small versus what I was used too. It also felt fragile. The deep sea hits door frames regularly and no issues!
Now those are 16 minutes of pure joy and useful information. Love this format of videos. I own the 3 watches, love them all. For my 16.5 cm wrists the sub is the way to go. Sometimes I enjoy the James Cameron but for few hours only. On your large wrists, the James Cameron look phenomenal
My Mk1 Deepsea has been the best daily wearer I've ever owned. You soon get used to the size and weight. I love my Submariner, but for me the Deepsea is the real tool watch.
Hi Oisin from Miami !!! I have a SD43 and I love it, sometimes I have the idea to get a sub as my vacation watch but when I see my SD43 I change my mind and I had and omega for that 😂
Funny, I’m 6’5” 250 lbs, but I have skinny wrists. The 124060 looks absolutely perfect on me. I suppose i could pull off the larger ones due to my frame but on my wrist they might look like an Invicta
Excellent topic, im a Rolex dive watch fan, so I went into my AD and tried on all three of these, ended up waiting for but now have got my new 44mm Deep Sea Sea Dweller, so happy with the size, weight and the micro adjustment in the strap. Its big, not everyone wants that, but a Sub was just too small
The Deep Sea 126660 fits me perfectly and is a truly special watch in my view. It wears more comfortably than any other watch I've owned. I don't know what kind of engineering went into the wearing experience, but it's incredible. If you're on the fence due to the specs or others' opinions, give it a chance and see what you think.
Yea…Baby, I’m wearing my Sea Dweller Red Text…. 50 Anniversary 126600 …… I love it …..better luminous indices than the old predecessor 16600 and with the updated bracelet…..what’s not to like. 👍👍👌👌😍 holds up nicely in the Hot Tube a depth of three feet. 😅🎉
Very helpful! Thank you! I've owned the black dial DSSD, but found it just too thick. Also did not like the crystal distortion. I'm sitting with SD43 on as I write this. I would agree that for those of us with little larger wrists, the SD43 is the right one. I do appreciate the cleaner Sub bezel, but not a deal-breaker. The one thing I would love to do is to retro-fit the DSSD clasp onto the SD43 bracelet. Being able to make the on-the-fly adjustment without having to take the watch off was heaven while I had the DSSD.
Great little video there Oisin! Thank you 😊 My first Rolex is the James Cameron, bought earlier this year from my local dealer. As a guy that likes to fly under the radar not ideal! 😂 But what a watch!! The dial is stunning, I have fairly hefty wrists 7.5” or so and I think it’s fits rather well.
I've tried on all these watches as well. With a 7.5" wrist I could wear either the Sub or the SD43 but I prefer the slightly larger SD43 with the red text on the dial. Not mentioned in the vid, the new sub has full AR coating while the SD43 only has it under the cyclops. More reflection for sure, something to know if that bothers you.
Great comparison between the 3 Rolex dive watches. I was able to try all 3 with my AD, I thought the SD43 fit my 8in wrist the best. The DS44 was just too thick although I did like the dial on that. After fitting the 2 bigger watches, the sub just felt too light 😅
In the video it is being claimed, that James Cameron took Rolex Deepsea (the one with gradient blue dial) to Mariana Trench - „He took this watch”. Which is a popular mistake and misunderstanding. Rolex Deepsea was released to commemorate this achievement, but it was a different watch strapped to the submarine, that dived to Mariana Trench with Cameron inside. It was a special prototype watch. You could say it was a piece unique. They finally made it into a watch available for consumers. Prototype did not have a helium escape valve, cause it was not meant to be worn by human divers during saturation diving. It was just strapped to the submarine, to show it can withheld such big pressure. Version for consumers is an evolution of this prototype, with some changes, like helium escape valve for instance.
I have tried SD43 and DSSD 126660 in the store and both watches wear big for my 6.5inch wrist. However, I am not bothered by the size at all -- I accept the size for what it is and do not expect them to wear like dressy watches. Pulled the trigger on the DSSD JC due to its dial and domed crystal are very unique and interesting to look at. Not to mention its amazing clasp, it is so easy to make quick adjustments on the fly with just one hand, and I wish Rolex could put the same adjustment system on every one of their watches. Its definitely one of those watches that has to be wore above the wrist bone with a tighter fit. I find that the case back would stick to my skin pretty quickly once I put it on, it would not flop or move around at all once the bracelet is properly fitted. And thanks to the amazing adjustment system in the clasp, getting a perfect fit isn't difficult.
The DEEPSEA SEA-DWELLER for me all the way. Rolex was never my cup of tea (too small for my taste) until I saw that Beast in 2011 on Liam Neeson's wrist in the movie Unknown. I've wanted one ever since. Had an opportunity a couple years later to get one that had been returned as "Buyer's Remorse" for $8,500 but dummy me, I passed on it.😢
Hey Olsin, watched your live stream. Have a black date sub and happy with it. Have a 7.5 inch wrist and can pull all three of them, but love the color of the Sea Dweller, it's not the diameter, or the lug to lug, it's the girth and weight of the Sea Dweller. And agree, the Deep Sea would fit perfect. Still not worth trading up to me. Not a wunder lust person like some of our friends.
Just saw your video. Great comparison. Direct and to the point. A nice coincidence since I took delivery of my SD just yesterday from my AD. I’m able to relate to everything u mentioned. Was offered a choice between the Sub or the SD. AGREE 100% that the SD is perfect for those with slightly larger wrist. Beside that, I personally like to feel the heft of a watch on my wrist. Call me weird 😂. Keep up the good 👍 work.
Usually I am not drawn towards Rolex but that dial of the Deepsea shading from blue to black is just gorgeous! Anyway I expected it to be heavier than the Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph from 2009 I just have on my wrist. Just checked its weight: 243g. It doesn't always look perfect on my wrist but fortunately it is wide enough that it still works. For me tool watches are allowed to be chunky and heavy.
Owned all 3 but now only have the SD43. Agree with you Oisin, it's the goldilocks model. The DSSD dimensions between case thickness and bracelet just look odd. The DSSD and SD43 wear better if the extension link is removed. The DSSD also works better on a rubber B strap.
When you see Tiger Woods at press conferences or Jason Day, the Deepsea always looks better than golfers wearing 40 mm Subs......I ve worn em all, after all of what I mentioned, I would prefer the Double red Vintage Submarinet on an olongapo bracelet. Thanks for Video!!
The submariner all day! The sub is overbuilt as it is. Who needs more than 1000' of waterproofing? The Seadeweller and Deepsea are too thick for an average sized wrist. I have a 6'4" 280 pound freind that has a James Cameron and complains it to big!
I rock a 116660 Deep Sea most days, I have a 7 3/4" wrist, I also have a TAG Aquaracer 42mm and an Omega Speedmaster Professional, the Deep Sea is my fav wear.....It took a few days wearing the Deep Sea when I first got it to understand how to wear it, the glidelock is your friend, I found I do wear it a little tighter than my other watches as it is a substantial chunky piece, but I do absolutely love it, I like the bold look, but understand others may not necessarily like that....For me I don't like the way Submariners wear on my wrist, it feels too small to me as do the GMT's (sadly as I'd love a two tone GMT), I did try a few different models of Rolex dive watches before settling on the Deep Sea 116660....Nice review, I enjoyed that.
I looked at the Sub, Sea Dweller, a GMT and an Explorer too, but after I tried on the Deepsea there was simply no going back. I have worn it for three years everyday and do all then rough stuff in it. I would be worried every time I hit a doorframe with any other watch but the 5.5mm sapphire crystal is unbreakable. I love it, wear it everywhere with everything. You can have your girly watches. A solid chunk of steel as he says.
What is the presenters wrist size??? That is the key? I am 6'6" w 8.25 in wrist and he looks big but I can not tell what size his wrist is??? Any help is appreciated
If you had the 126660 I instead of the 116660 if would not be too top heavy with the wider bracelet and even more so with the flatter case back 136660, my Aussie 2 cents 🥃
You would have to see each in person up close to see the difference between the Deep Sea and Submariner. The Deep Sea case is oversized and very thick. It was too big for my wrist. The Submariner is just right and will fit anyone's wrist. It has a normal case thickness compared to other Rolex watches.
SD43 All the way love these style of videos hands on comparison 🙌
I would take the no date Sub over the other two all day. The 124060 is the best watch in their total line up imho and has been for some time. . Ticks so many boxes at a relatively affordable price by Rolex standards. Proper tool watch. Aesthetically pleasing without the cyclops. Elegant. Simply timeless.
SD43 comes with a divers extension in the bracelet that you didn’t mention. Most people have it removed it seems . Great vid thanks
Only the first 2 gens do I think
Karl's right, the sea dweller no longer comes with the extension
Oisin must have removed it as his is a 2018 model
I’m a fan of the no date sub, saving to pick one up, can’t wait. No date Rolex are my favorite.
Incredible video :D
Very pretty comparison. Now it’s all crystal clear. Merci beaucoup!
The Submariner is the cool watch.
Have them both. Like kids you shouldn’t pick a favorite but the Deepsea is my favorite by a hair 😎 Am I the only one who seems to appreciate these beauties a little more when you see them on someone else’s wrist?
Yea the Deepsea is the best it really stands out
Love your videos … what camera do you use ?
I am not a fan of any of these watches. But good video. 🕐🍸🍸
I just picked up my 136660-003 4 days ago and I love it. Rolex scratches very easily. Small wrist, wears well and comfortable. Better than Omega Sea Master.
With my 21cm wrist I sadly can't go smaller than with a 45mm watch 😢
The trick with the Deapsea is to just have it tight against your wrist. Mine doesn't budge. Yes it's still kind of top heavy but it doesn't move. I absolutely love this watch and I can wear it all day with no problem.
That's good
The James Cameron is an engineering master piece, I call it the dooms day clock. Wear it in good health it’s a beauty. 👍👍
Yes tight
I sleep with mine! Lume at 5AM in the morning!
I own the 3 watches, love them all. For my 16.5 cm wrists the sub is the way to go. Sometimes I enjoy the James Cameron but for few hours only. On your large wrists, the James Cameron look phenomenal
SD 43 is the best watch I’ve ever worn. Fits perfect for a 7 and 3/4” wrist
Do you think it would fit ok on a 7 1/4 wrist?
@@bradpowell843I think it would. I have a friend that has just under a 7” wrist, average build that has worn it before and it looks good on him.
I’m 6.5 and it fit me fine. Plus I don’t care what other people think. It’s just a bit more special than my old sub.
I'll take a Sea-Dweller, thanks! 😂
SD4K is the best sports watch Rolex have ever made
I’ve been lucky and fortunate to have a few watches (over the years) but my favorite is 16600 since new ‘03*.
SD or DSSD for me. Love the bigger dial and the gold bracelet. Real sexy
Absolutely Deepsea
My Mk1 Deepsea has been the best daily wearer I've ever owned. You soon get used to the size and weight. I love my Submariner, but for me the Deepsea is the real tool watch.
Yeah I have the black dial Deepsea I like it I don't wear it much it's a big watch
Ni un buzo hoy en día usa un reloj .solo usan computadoras en la muñeca .
Hi Oisin from Miami !!! I have a SD43 and I love it, sometimes I have the idea to get a sub as my vacation watch but when I see my SD43 I change my mind and I had and omega for that 😂
Never could’ve pulled off the Sub, I’m way too large and tall, thank God Rolex brought out the Sea Dwellers and Deep Seas 💪🏽
Funny, I’m 6’5” 250 lbs, but I have skinny wrists. The 124060 looks absolutely perfect on me. I suppose i could pull off the larger ones due to my frame but on my wrist they might look like an Invicta

Sub No Date.

Love them all. Wish I had bigger wrists so I could wear the SD43, it feels way more unique than a sub
"A lot of us are desk divers" 😂😂😂 Mate you really know how to hit the nail. :D
Will take the SD43mm - submariner is too common , too plain … Deepsea gorgeous but too heavy and tall… The SD43MM is the best pick out of all them …
Yea…Baby, I’m wearing my Sea Dweller Red Text…. 50 Anniversary 126600 …… I love it …..better luminous indices than the old predecessor 16600 and with the updated bracelet…..what’s not to like. 👍👍👌👌😍 holds up nicely in the Hot Tube a depth of three feet. 😅🎉
With all this Titanic talk this week I wonder if the Deep Sea will become more wanted.
Very helpful! Thank you! I've owned the black dial DSSD, but found it just too thick. Also did not like the crystal distortion. I'm sitting with SD43 on as I write this. I like the busier bezel on the 43. Helps shrink the watch a little.
Great little video there Oisin! Thank you 😊
My first Rolex is the James Cameron, bought earlier this year from my local dealer.
As a guy that likes to fly under the radar not ideal! 😂 But what a watch!! The dial is stunning, I have fairly hefty wrists 7.5” or so and I think it’s fits rather well.
Great job man. Reminds of the old days talking Rolex. Really great comparisons and fun. Cheers
Deep Sea all day
I've tried on all these watches as well.
I have the SD4K variant, small production of 18 months, perfect case size.
Great on the wrist.
SD43 single red is an amazing watch even on a small rest.... best tool watch ever
love these table top vids from you, happy you brought one back!
Sea-Dweller is the best. Been my favorite daily
I prefer the SUB
I have owned all three. The SD43 is the one I still own.
The story ended with the 16600 Sea Dweller really.
Great video! The DeepSea 116660 is actually a 21mm lug width.
Fabulous video and watches…each to their own..for me its the Goldilocks. Now if only it had that blue/black dial…👌
In the video it is being claimed, that James Cameron took Rolex Deepsea (the one with gradient blue dial) to Mariana Trench - „He took this watch”. Which is a popular mistake and misunderstanding. Absolutely love my SD43.
Absolutely love the deepsea 👌

I wear a James Cameron deep sea 3 days a week, love it and weight is not an issue
The sub
Usually I am not drawn towards Rolex but that dial of the Deepsea shading from blue to black is just gorgeous! Had the sd43 sold it .deepsea more comfortable on 7’5 wrist which surprised me and no cyclops distraction
If you want a real diver get the SD4K.- 116600 🔥
Owned all 3 but now only have the SD43. Agree with you Oisin, it's the goldilocks model. The DSSD dimensions between case thickness and bracelet just look odd. The DSSD and SD43 wear better if the extension link is removed. The DSSD also works better on a rubber B strap.
I never thought about the removal of the divers extension. Can you elaborate?
The rubber b straps are too short if wrist is 7.25 inches up , thank me later
The tang buckle ones
Had them, sold the Sub and the SD 43. The Deep Sea is by far the best of all them. It’s the ultimate diving watch 👌🏻
I got the James Cameron second generation.... I love that ⌚️...😎
The James Cameron dial is gorgeous
Incredible video as usual. Great comparison of of 3 amazing timepieces but the sub in my opinion is just perfect!
The sd43 is lovely but I would still take an SD4K over it. Frankly you can’t go wrong with any of these 3 beauties
own an enjoy both: a TT SD43, and the DS SD (not the James Cameron). I enjoy them both equally. My wrist is 7.375". Wearing the DS right now.
Red SD43 every day, twice on Sunday. Best Rolex ever.
Shorten your intro pal, it’s a little long.
The comma comes before “pal”. “It’s a little long” is a new sentence so; full stop and then a capital I
The submariner all day!
The sub is overbuilt as it is.
Who needs more than 1000' of waterproofing?
The Seadeweller and Deepsea are too thick for an average sized wrist.
I have a 6'4" 280 pound freind that has a James Cameron and complains it to big!
No-date Submariner is just so classic.
The James Cameron looks the best on you Oisin. Don’t worry about it flopping around. It’s supposed to be dangly and sexy.

Great video production as always! And a great comparison as well
SD43 is my first and probably my last Rolex. Cheers
What is the presenters wrist size??? That is the key? I am 6'6" w 8.25 in wrist and he looks big but I can not tell what size his wrist is??? Any help is appreciated
That's exactly the review I was looking for. Thank you. Well done!
Thank you for this video. SD43 is my pick. Too many Subs and homages. SD43 is unique.
If you had the 126660 I instead of the 116660 if would not be too top heavy with the wider bracelet and even more so with the flatter case back 136660, my Aussie 2 cents 🥃
Enjoyed your video Oisin! Very informative. Thanks.
This video is so helpful and answers all the questions I have. Thank you.
That was great! I have the SD43 126600 and the DSSD 126660 Black Dial - love them both and rotate them every 2 days to mix it up. Enjoy!
The Sub looks better on everyone's wrists. SD43 is just avout tolerable but the DeepSea is a cartoonish joke!
Great video! Two questions
1. What are the prices of these watches?
2. What is your wrist size?
Sea dweller 43 hands down
Why include the sub? Could have done three sea dwellers….. the original dead dweller is by far the better watch compared to all of these.
Fact check - 5:15 James Cameron wore a submariner on the famous dive in 2012 not a Deepsea.
Great video. So much useful info. Many thanks, Chris :)
I'm wearing my Rolex black Deepsea today I love it it's a mans watch the others are girls watches
A watch that is too thick is a problem that cannot be fixed, I'm sad ro say.
You would have to see each in person up close to see the difference between the Deep Sea and Submariner. The Deep Sea case is oversized and very thick. It was too big for my wrist. The Submariner is just right and will fit anyone's wrist. It has a normal case thickness compared to other Rolex watches.
I can send over the titanium to compare them all🎉🍾🥂👌🏽👏🏽🎉
Missing the Deep Sea Challenge
dwarfs them all, @ 50 mm.
sea dweller is the max anyone should go for. deepsea is just too thick
At the end you even beat the Fidel Castro with parting shot!!!
The jc dial is awesome. if you have the wrist to pull it off, I say go for it.
Love the circa 2020 old school style TWC episode today! ( but without the RayBans)
My Deep Sea is huge. I love it!
Nice video
gas escape valve.. Yep, I've got one of those ! 😆
None of them look big on you they suit you well on your wrist 👍
What a poor detail on submariner prints… looks like cheap replica
Lovely watches there , lovely George Michael lookalike 😂
Blancpain for me. These rolexes are way over priced
