      This really depends on your perspective on these “budget” keyboards. If you are a “casual” so to speak, someone who’s interested but not too deep, someone who buys boards like the gmk67 then the 99 dollars wont be budget for you. But when you are looking through the lens of an actual enthusiast, considering what features boards like the rainy75 have, its darn cheap for 99, this is not to say the enthusiasts themselves would buy keyboards like these but they acknowledge the value in them and it something that can be recommended to people trying to get into the enthusiast space

      @@thefeel2261 oh I am far casual, but I would love to see my friends in this keyboard hobby with me but having a such high price for a "budget" Is scary for them, I mean my keyboard is like 120 buck but you can def get an alu keyboard kit for like 40ish buck(if you live in asia)

    honestly the custom keyboard era is currently so good right with all the features and low prices, but ive been in this hobby quite sometime. I have started to dive into ergo split keyboards and JLC PCBs. Im surprised that not many people create their own keyboard, but i also understand that making those keyboards are very difficult(soldering micro controllers, flashing firmware, soldering oled screens). i know its difficult but I love the customisation(knobs, scroll wheels, track pads). You should try it, its like 30 sgd for a sofle kit on taobao( not including case or plate but you can get it 3d printed)

    I was always watching the custom keyboard scene at arm's length. I have friends that had custom keyboards, and I definitely wanted one. But the price and barrier to entry was too off-putting. The Rainy75 and its price made it almost a no brainer to finally jump in. Low price, high quality, and all out of the box.

    have been waiting for the right time to pickup a Rainy for months now and I am glad I waited because the Bridge 75 Pro seems like a better option for me and It’s $35 less than the Rainy 75 pro, which is why I preordered a Bridge 75 today. Typing on an SK75 that arrived the other week and I have no complaints, it's a fantastic board but with how competitive the budget market is I almost want to waste a bit more money when more experimental keyboards in the budget price range start to follow suit.

      I've had my Bridge75 HE for a week now and I have no complaints whatsoever. If I really had to nitpick, I'd say the software is the least appealing aspect, since it's pretty much standard with no special features (DKS and MT is still there though) and a limitation of only having 1 non-switchable actuation profile. But I guess Wooting has set the bar so high for the software side of HE keyboards that it's a little unrealistic to expect other brands to be able to match or exceed them, especially at this budget segment.

    I'm new to this mech keyboard thing. Probably my favorite channel right now. I like how he has no issues trying to objectively rank one keyboard over another. I watched a few other review channels and they just show the keyboard, give a sound test, and finish with a "I think I like it."
    I got a couple newbie questions:
    If $179 is budget, what is mid-tier? What is high end? Do tiers even exist?
    So a Mode Sonnet doesn't have any of the ball catch or magnetic daughter board features. It's wired only, doesn't even offer tri mode pcb, so they dont even have to buy batteries. It costs like $300 for basic barebones, and gets praised to the skies. Whats up with that? What am i missing?

    So, one thing to keep in mind. Wobkey's responsiveness on their support has really been lacking. I've lost 2 of the gaskets (they do not stay in their catch very well and they're really bouncy) and I need replacements (none were provided to me with the kit). I reached out to them through their website and eventually through Discord. I have *never* gotten a response through Discord and I got a response through email telling me that there wiol be a link on the webpage to buy replacements. This never happened, it's been over a week and no change... It seems that a couple should've been provided in the first place (like with most of the dumb bell gasket mount keyboards I have received) and the fact that i cannot even seem to PAY them for replacements has we worried. Combined with the fact that i have heard of people who are STILL waiting on the KS boards and I think you're probably best to look elsewhere.

    the problem is that prebuilt is not a custom; these boards are not the best for customizing typing feel and sound over the stock configuration. I mean, if you remove foam from these $99 kits the result will be pingy, the flexcuts pcb will ruin the experience and make the keyboard bottoming out and other stuff like that.

      I think my main issue with Monsgeek is that they've been in the budget keyboard scene a lot longer than the likes of Bridge75 or Rainy75, yet they haven't managed to make major improvements to their design and innovation in the last 2 years. It's been the same boxy, angular case design with gold side accents ever since they introduced their first keyboard. They've managed to keep manufacturing costs low by having the same template, resulting in super low prices. Unfortunately, since other brands are starting to find ways to either match or beat them in the budget segment, their offerings just seem super outdated in comparison.

      It depends on the features and stuff you're looking for. I like it and I would give it a decent 7.5/10. The non-magnetic connector for the screen, which is a detriment to the ball/catch implementation and a let down, but not an unexpected one. But it *does have* a ball/catch system, which is not and a magnetic connector for the PCB itself. The sound is pretty on point for this era of 100-ish dollar budget keyboards. I have not tried the Bridge75, but I have the Rainy75, the ND75, the Galaxy80, and a M1W (v2) and I have to say that the screen is nice, but a little dim and I, like everyone, wish that it were QMK/VIA or ZMK compatible. But I like the ND75 and would probably choose it over the Rainy75.

    I see what you mean but these keyboards never cost 99$ for the most of the people. Outside US it is always a 50$ difference including shipping&import fees. I always think "Oh, this might be the one that is budget friendly" and it costs 50$ more in the cart, always.

    Am i the only one who thinks that zoom shouldn't be in the budget category with these other boards? when you actually buy it it's easily at least 200+, this should be at the lower end of mid end keyboards not "budget"

    • @bricekim
      @bricekim 26 днів тому

      also compared to all these other keyboards, the zoom is only available via groupbuy and then you need to wait months, compared to these other boards that are more in-stock

  • @NeilWeaselboots
    @NeilWeaselboots 6 днів тому

    Calling this budget when anything higher is just complete scams. The fact that you can get the same quality for $100 over $300 - $1000 keyboards is insane and shows how stupid people are with their spending
