That plastic film is a PET film , they called it "声优膜" 😅its another layer to the whole FOAM meta.
That is absolutely crazy. When I first joined the keyboard hobby you could get a RK61 for $50 and I thought that was good value. Shows how far the keyboard community has come.
ikr, now you can get such good stock keyboards at a cheap price. My friends bought the gmk67 and even with ZERO mods it already sounds pretty good.
The custom keebs community is growing,rk was what we called good custom keeb back then xd
Tman when did you start seems we both started around the same time
100% agree. i honestly don't know if this phenomenon is a good sign for the hobby or what
It could be a double-edged sword. It could be good for beginners as they dont have to experience hardness when it comes to assembling a keyboard, they could get a good keyboard straight out of the box, but the bad side is there not going to be that many of an innovation, cause every company just copying each other off@@animate4529
1:38 This is what I'm saying! Years ago I only dreamed of owning an aluminum keyboard knowing they cost upwards of 100 dollars. Now we have a full cnc aluminum board with a knob for 30-40 dollars? It's honestly insane how far this hobby has gotten in terms of accessibility for beginners and those without a huge budget.
Thanks to china
nah you getting it for double the price 😂
Put the switches before you assemble the case
it helps with the longevity of the sockets' solder job too.
the plastic film is actually meant to stay in! i've had a cn board come through (not sugar65) with the film above the pcb as well and it's supposedly going to make it sound better. but be careful when you put your switches in the pins might get bent (speaking from personal experience) and it can be a pain 😭
The plastic film is the only one needed! Counteracts the flex cuts sealing those air gaps and stops the board from going completely "thin" sounding. It is essentially a more robust tape mod. Board sounds fantastic with all the foam removed except for that plastic one.
no shade to Lewis, but I would strongly recommend installing the switches into the plate / PCB on a flat hard surface outside the case to avoid popping out a hotswap socket. It would also likely help mitigate the flex of the plate/pcb assembly that’s present while installing in the case due to the gasket mount. Otherwise I’m just shocked at how cheap these boards have become! It’s wild that a two piece alu case could be so affordable.
+1 on this. I personally install switches first before plugging the the jst cable ever since I heard about sockets popping off.
@@JuliusStaMaria-db3xpyeah it’d be a real bummer to turn a hotswap board into something that requires soldering to fix (or worse still ruin the PCB if you were to have contact rip off with the socket)
I remember paying like £130 for my KBD67 Lite R2 a couple of years ago and thinking it was an amazing deal. Its crazy to see how far this hobby has come in only the past few years
Finally. I've been waiting for you to review the Sugar 65
Too bad we can't get it for that price in the states. 🤣 Regardless, it is still an insane price for a decent aluminum keyboard kit. It's wild how much the hobby has changed just since I joined a couple years ago.
awesome how the keeb market improves all the time while at the same time being more and more market-friendly. Shows the kind of people that makes this hobby and why it got to be as big as it is today
How do you think this compares to the other budget keyboard you reviewed the hi75?
I kept all the foam and the plastic in mine, I actually found the plate to be very difficult to install Glorious Panda swtiches so instead I installed Akko Cream Blue Pros and had no difficulties at all. It was like the plate was too tight for the Glorious switches. Oil Kings were a little tight but could have worked with a little force like what you did with you Pandas., Great build and sounds nice without the PE foam, my build turned out very poppy which I'm quite pleased with as my Neo65 is quite deep and thocky. Last thing, I got my Silver here in the US for $52 and that's about the cheapest you can find it on Ali, many are right now, 12/1 charging mid-$60 or higher if you want any color but black or silver. Great video once again!
hey could you help me out and send a link, I really want this keyboard cause I can't find a nice looking 60% with a knob anywhere.
@@ballistic3666 you won’t find a 60% with a knob, need to go 65%. The Sugar65 is nice as is the Neo65 or the Yunzii al66.
the piece of plastic film under the pe foam is actually intended for you to use along with the pe foam. It makes the board thockier than normal pe foam board, it makes the board sounds marbly like mahjong tiles hitting each other.
I tried using it with pe foam only and with the plastic film and pe foam. It does makes a huge difference in sound
@@yourhat1000have you tried with the plastic film only without the pe foam? If yes, how's the sound?
@@jheppyeah nah i didnt
Dang i might try this!
been using mine for a month, i use KTT Strawberry v1 and it sounds really good!
You finally saw this budget alu keeb! Try the other iteration of it I think its called HJ Snake Al65. supposedly cross compatible, with just better finish on the case :D
can you link the keyboard, switches and caps? the taobao link doesnt work
Man i love that sound. Question, can you recommend any decent budget kits with an iso layout?
The board comes in ISO too.
Hey I would also recommend the final key v81. 75% budget aluminum with a screen and pvd badge
i always loved that board
Would u recommend this over the gmk 67? they are very similar
the video we've been waiting for weeks 😅🎉
Also from the same company, there is another owlab spring clone (Weikav's record alice), hope to see some no foam build, thanks!
Yesss, lets get lewis to try out the record
this keyboard sounds amazing! great job Lewis Toh!!!
Did you manage to change the knob programming? Mine doesn't control the volume. It just does some weird rgb things
I have no idea how they made this so darn cheap!! Makes me have second thoughts about spending more than 10 times this price on my keyboard (and it's not even fancy!)...
They didn't. it actually costs 85 USD.
What keycap is that and is there a link for it!
is there a way to change the launguage in the site?
Can u put the link of the keycaps?
ive had it for 3 days and i love it so much!!!!
Man, where did u find the gmk darling clone they look identical, and it really cool
Nice vid mate
Oh I was waiting for this
nice
Amazing video as always! Also you should probably check out the GMK87 a TKL with both a knob and a screen for less than 45USD! (If my conversion is correct)
It was about $35 on Aliexpress a few days ago. Bought 2 since I couldn't wait for a good cheap tkl anymore. Love the knob and screen but sad I lose the top row of nav cluster (I use it for my artisans).
apparently that pcb film is basically an alternative to the PE Foam mod
Lewis you should try it with the PET film (the one u called a protective sheet for pcb), it's a trend that started with the Infi75 that u reviewed previously.
It sounds a lot like the Yunzii AL71 or rather the Xinmeng M71. Cool. Amazing quality for no money at all.
I this board would be pretty good with some broken in nixies, spring swapped, lubed and filmed, and ditch the foam
Which one should I get this or the cidoov65?
does the 30$ include shipping? i thought taopao and aliexpress stuff have a higher cost in shipping?
Hiiiiii, I need the keycaps does anyone have the link of tb
LEWIS IS BACK
Mechkeys has it for $70, which is still a great price for what you get. I'm not sure how reputable Mechkeys is though, I've never ordered from them.
What brand of Holy Panda was used in this video? Thanks!
taobao does not deliver to singapore for this keyboard, how did you order it
what better? buy sugar65 or earn a litlle bit more ,oney and buy neo65?
what's the cheapest aluminium case, 75%, south-facing, hotswappable, 2.4GHz, pcb mounted stabs kit/prebuilt keyboard?
can you add link for the keycaps
Any way to get those keycaps in US?
its amazing!!! they also have an alice version called weikav record. can you please try it?? its a clone of owlab spring keyboard❤❤❤❤
is there a keyboard similar to this but with bluetooth connectivity?
do you happen to consign it cause i've tried to find it everywhere and i almost died finding this one LOLLLL
please review the monka 6067
Hey would it be worth me trying to get this, i live in the uk
I need help…. I stained my sugar65 at work with pen ink… now I can’t get it off…. Any suggestions?😅
Please review the Ajazz AK820 pro, it actually sounds pretty good stock and has a screen for the price of 50-60 dollars!
got it!
This looks exactly like my gmk 67 like EXACTLY
Does anyone know of a keyboard of this layout that is wireless and uses AA/AAA batteries?
I really wanted to get this keyboard, I wanted to get it in either, redf, silver or black but the only color that has been available for weeks now on AliExpress in all the stores has been pink. I hope it hasn´t been discontinued.
how does this compare with leobog hi75?
can i have link of keycaps? thank you ^^
you should check out the neo65
how does this compare to the hi75?
Yo lewis do you have the website link from taobao? the link you post cant access it
could you link where you got the keycaps?
its the gmk darling keycaps cherry profile
The fact that the switches are more expensive than the keyboard… insane
the arrow keys might be put on wrong but this looks clean
Wanted you to review this
Sugar65 what color do you have ?
is there a way to make it wireless?
yooo jp pokemon box in the background
Anyone know where to buy it now bc the link doesnt work anymore
itll sound better with the plastic on the PCB
Idk how you get it for 30. Been looking everywhere including taobao and its 80
lewis , can i know where to get the keycapssss?
if youre from singapore, search up darling keycaps
@@LewisToh right, thanks lewis
it sure is really good for 30 bucks!
Can you pls get a link
Hi Mate! I Always Love your videos. But One thing I would like to Point out is that Sugar65 Never Went Below 309 RMB Which is equal to around 43 USD. I have tracking the price for quite sometime and got one myself one finally. I have to agree , this is an amazing board. Even if you consider a sale in future, that would be a overexpectations, because regular price hovers around 309 RMB To 329RMB in taobao. This would create overexpectations about a certain board to your follower base.
i see this board on taobao for 219rmb usually, never see it more than 300rmb even on resellers.
Well, I have never seen this go below 309 RMB. I understand that there is no price trend tracker for taobao, but so far If i can recall, I had to track the price a lot in recent times and I have seen this hovering around that range. I am not sure how it was 219 RMB in your end TBH.
While I understand that Taobao prices might get even lower due to sales, That doesn't mean this is a regular price For the Majority of people outside of China. The Cost of importing will be added in, and it will be a bit higher as always for the rest of the world. But yes, I could be wrong too.
@@yourhat1000
@@SamBoga i buy stuff frequently from taobao, it was always 199yuan for black, 219yuan for other colors. u need to account for the 90yuan coupon upon checkout
@@yourhat1000 can you give links where to find it below 300 and 219 specifically?
The board is 219, not 309, they have a perpetual 'sale' which brings it down to 219
alright bro next the weikav record ALICE keyboard pls
Pandabuy keyboard is CRAZY
link it pls 😅😅
Please help me how to find it in ali express 🥺
That's not a protective film Lewis! D: it's a PET pad.
Where could we find it 2:58
Checkout the AL75
slaps on gmk darling
"this shit is $30 bro trust"
thats a clone set thats probably only $20
yess
Hi guys, I'm new to custom keyboard building, I saw some comments on the internet says foam mod basically mutes alot of sound, so regardless of ehich switches I use, it will sound pretty much the same. Is it true?
It depends on the board really.
Hoooly shit and to think that you could get an rk61 for 50 bucks back in the day, no you can get an Alu keeb WITH gasket mounting, south facing pcb and hotswap. Absolutely insane value.
if you're already opening the case to mod, you should really just be telling people to install the switches with the PCB on the table.
newbies will not learn & they will keep popping out hotswap sockets.
You're supposed to keep and use the PET film
Nice marble ish sound
yes
where is it 30$ ?
i find it everywhere at 70$ at least and the link in the description doesn"t work
Sugar65 in my country is like 60$ just barebones :o guess if I really want to I have to learn how to order from Taobao.
same, its hard to order there since the interface is in chinese.
It sounds good and it looks good. But sadly I need a 75% 😢
Neo65, the neo65
bro how
oh so this the keyboard , whe nyou talk about it on your stream
Which is better hi75 or sugar65?
i honestly prefer the hi75
at the same price point, sugar65 has more spec to it, it's fully CNC with anodized coating (very smooth and looks very metallic) while hi75 is cast aluminum with spray coating (very rough and uneven to the touch)
sound wise, hi75 can be deeper and thockier while sugar65 sounds more like the high end alu board you get with 200USD
also hi75 is kinda getting outclassed recently with all the new boards coming to the market, try looking at VGN VXE75, MONKA 6075, WOB Rainy75, and leobog's own Hi8, they're all in the same price range
Really? I just ordered a gmk67 🤦♂️
