His part was hilarious because he’s literally trying to save the other doctors. Patient and the doctor is just refusing to acknowledge because he thinks so highly of himself when we’re all humans we’re all capable of mistakes and we’re all capable of identifying other peoples mistakes and it’s actually extremely respectful to call him out on. It shows that you care.

The thing is, from this conversation, I think Dr. Murphy is not a particularly good surgeon, either. A good doctor, who wants to suggest changes in the course of action with another surgeon, will say something like this “I think there is a possibility of (xyz) (complication) in this procedure, because there’s a study from abc (countries/institutes, etc.) that shows that surgery is not superior to intervention/medication in this population, probably because of (…) (insert mechanism here)”.
Not just more polite, but it shows you did research on the subject (a lot of knowledge in medicine is obtained that way, by reading and understanding a boatload of articles and journals while using the information available on the patient to deduct a right diagnosis and form a good treatment method).
Funny that he mentioned “study” just to make personal insult against the senior surgeon.
SOURCE: I am a surgeon fresh out of residency, and have made this kind of conversation both pre-op and mid-op.

@@littlejohn8435 If he’s a savant, then he should be able to scour through the medical literature to find something related to the patient and cite that, not “study shows older people are bad”.
There’s a lot of way to convince an older doctor to change their mindset, and he chose personal insult. I know some medical professionals who are on the spectrum, and they don’t go around insulting people to change their mind.

It's medical gimmicks. While the performers are good, often times the storylines are really uneven. Of course it's not the only such show. Suits was entertaining but a totally unbelievable portrayal of lawyers (how the hell the leads didn't get disbarred or in jail many times is a mystery) - and House has the ability to diagnose anything, even before performing standard tests that any experienced doctor would call for while coming up with such outlandish solutions. They dazzle us so people eat it up. I actually think the Korean original was a better show - and it only lasted one season.

As usual in television, the autistic doctor, an intern, is portrayed as a savant who connects his exam of cold feet to a mistake made by an interventional cardiologist and demonstrates superior knowledge of the catheter. It's mindless entertainment, obviously, not reality, but it does justice neither to physicians nor to persons with autism. I am a physician who has known and worked with other physicians who have autism spectrum disorder, most of them on the milder end (what we used to call Asperger Disorder). They were bright people and they did work hard, but were by no means sharper than their colleagues. They were not correct more often than their colleagues, but sometimes one of them might "know" that he's right and someone else is wrong, when just the opposite was the case. Unfortunately, the extreme savant is the only characterization we ever see on the screen. It is a stereotype that is badly overused.

I would love to watch what happens when that patient dies during that operation, I wonder what excuse is he going to say to Doctor Murphy, Oh well let this patient die and have a major law suit on their hands, all the Doctors especially the one doing the surgery will be held responsible for this man's death, time will tell what happens, what episode is this from

excellent choice on the character’s robotic voice preparing people for having to deal with android doctors working next to real ones
“🤖 I am as real as you are”
Yeah I know it’s just figure of speech
🤖 speech is invisible it has no figure unless it causes a slight modification through vibration upon the ear drum
🥸 maybe they’ll do a show about a robot dentist next because this is like pulling teeth

No. He was wrong that Nakano made a mistake, but he wasn't wrong about Artie's condition in the end.
