The fact that Dr. Han is honestly 100% in the right here and is portrayed as the VILLAIN should show the quality of this show's writing. I have autism, by the way.
I have never seen the show but let me guesse, The guy who was screaming here is the main character and has autism, The asian guy is the villain because he doesnt give the main character everything on a golden platter, and the show portrays autistic people the way hollywood always protrays autism.
@@jobberghs3734 Basically yes.
I have ADHD and I'm prone to forget things. I'm not allowed to forget to pay my bills or taxes. I still have obligations that must be fulfilled despite my problem. I appreciate when people are understanding and are patient with me, but it is my responsibility to be a functional adult and do my job properly and professionally. If I was messing up because of my disorder and Dr. Han gave me the time and space to demonstrate competency, I think I'd be genuinely grateful and probably a little frustrated with myself.

autism is a big spectrum, some people struggle in different areas than what you do
i love how the supposed "antagonist" is more negotiable and respectful than the protagonist
Except he’s not, you just haven’t watched the show. He forced him out of his surgeon job that he had done successfully for over a year because he’s a bigot and refused to listen to Shawn and all of his coworkers trying to get him back. Shawn even saved a child’s life through surgery that no one else could save and everyone had to beg Han to let Shawn perform it just this once and despite all this Dr. Han refused to let Shawn be a surgeon again.
Well an antagonist doesn't always mean a villain, it's just someone that goes against the protagonist who isn't always a good person. Dr Han, while he is the antagonist, gave every chance to the dude to regain his job and regrow responsibility and emotional stability
Not all antagonists are bad, and not all protagonists are supposed to be good/right

Season 8 writing for sure
honestly, dr Han was in the right here. If this was a real life situation, you wouldn’t give him the job because it was it was his dream if he was going to be at a potentially higher risk to harm patients during surgery. For example, the episode where he walks out on his patient because he finds a complicated issue which he can’t operate on. You would never just walk out on your patient in real life without serious consequences or being fired, whether you were autistic or not. This isn’t about discrimination against autistic people, it’s about what’s least dangerous for the patient
💯 Exactly. I'm neurodivergent too and there's a reason many people call it a disability. With these conditions, you can't do certain things. Like, be a surgeon who easily gets overstimulated. It's not a quirk or cute personality trait. It is hindering. I have gone through so much of my life wishing I could cure myself just to belong. I know nothing about this shot but Dr Han is right, he cannot be a surgeon. That's just how it is.
Don't know the episode you're referring too, but many times in the OR Surgeons will immediately close if they find that they can't do anything. They'll also quickly refer the patient elsewhere outpatient if they can't help them. Surgeons operate, and if they can't operate, then it's futile to go on with that Surgeon. Walking out without saying anything would be unethical, but would likely be a bad yelp review or an ass chewing. Surgeons make MASSIVE money for hospitals, so a light ass-chewing is the most aggressive punishment. If it's their own suite, then I doubt anything would happen. A bad yelp review would be it.
@@TheWalterHWhite it’s not that he’s closed without doing anything, he had a mental breakdown midway through and left the OR with the patient still open on the table without telling any of his colleagues what the problem was.

It's really horrible how this show does this with over stimulation. It doesn't take it seriously. Couple that over stimulation with depression, it's bad and debilitating. So debilitating you can't do anything.

Probably because he was autistic. Never seen this show but it seemed like the boss was gaslighting the kid because of his disability
@@BrotherBroosh nah the kid literally ran out mid surgery while he was cutting open a patient because of a sudden sensory overload due to his autism, thats why he was moved to pathology, which in it of itself is still a great and highly respected sect of medicine. its actually astounding the asian doctor didnt fire him for literally abandoning a dying patient mid surgery and only moved him. and then the kid has the guts to go back and ask for his old job when he clearly isn't capable of handling it, i mean his meltdown here basically proves that he does not have the capacity for high stress situations like surgeries

The end is so powerful. When he grabs Dr. Han using only the force and starts to choke him out, but then Dr. Han throws chopsticks at Dr. Murphy’s eyes, and so Dr. Murphy is blind and releases Han and says “You’ll surge for that one!!” Then the fight sequence that follows is shocking, especially with how hard Murphy surges all over Han and himself in the process. Then, sensing his surges running low, Murphy teleports to his locker and tries to surge one last time and put his labcoat in his backpack, but because he’s blind and surgtarded now, he ends up dumping all of his fidget spinners onto the floor, before collapsing into a puddle of his own surgeplasm and shouts “IT’S SURGEON TIME!!” despite the fact he knows that he doesn’t have the power to form Surgzord anymore.

Sorry but my autism kicks way too hard on this comment. Funny joke and all but jesus christ i _need_ to mention how fucking much i hate this scene. This is not how we act at all. In all of my years of being surrounded by autistic people and quite literally being autistic myself i have never seen someone act that.. retarded. Its the only word i can use for this behaviour. Even if you are severely autistic, you should still be able to not act like this. I knew a guy that was so autistic he couldnt even talk when people spoke to him. He only ever spoke when he was the one instigating the conversation. He seemingly didnt even unterstand simple phrases such as "dont touch me" when he was in the "zone", but never once did he act out like this. Not once. Neither did anyone with autism that i know.
To me this feels insulting. Yes autism is a disability and it effects us and it would be nice if people had more sympathy for us, but this show isnt helping at all.
This scene doesnt feel like its treated with the correct respect and care it needs.
Just imagine if you had someone that was born with deformed legs. The person is still theoretically able to walk but it really hurts after just a few steps and it even begins to bleed after a few meters. By the logic of this show we shouldnt treat this person disability with the respect that it needs, but we should instead encourage this person to compete in the olympics as a sprinter. And if then someone comes along and says "well you cant be a sprinter but you can fly drones if you want to" then this person gets treated as the villain. This show is so fucking stupid

@@brynion2117 yeah, I can actually relate to having a pointless breakdown like this. However, it was a learning point that I learned from, and it didn't really set me back very far in the grand scheme of things.
I can’t tell if he’s really good at acting or bad at it
He is really good tbh, like memes aside and shit he really is a talented dude.
he's a good actor from what I've seen in Bates Motel. This show is shitty though and the writers have no idea what autistic ppl are actually like
this is bad directing not bad acting. He does just fine in other stuff. I think this director just has a case of the Mommie Dearests.
@@ferdinand9555 agreed, he was really good in bates motel. unfortunately they just gave him a goofy script here
They are way over exaggerating what autism is, Probably cause every doctor is already some form of neurodivergent that it wouldnt be interesting at all if they didnt make him have 10 other mental disorders too. lol
" I AM- I AM A *METAL PIPE NOISE* "
man they weren't kidding when people said this was awful autistic representation
As someone who is special Ed myself, I have to say that Dr. Han was 100% justified in this scene and handled the situation very well
Edit: I did not say this to get attention. I hate pointing out my disabilities and often don’t like people to know I have them because I don’t like using them as an “excuse.” All I was saying is that even if a person is Special Ed it doesn’t justify them acting irrationally towards others. I don’t expect nor do I want to be treated differently than anybody else that includes me being put in my place if I step out of line. I don’t want sympathy, I just want to be treated as anyone else would and I try every day to do my part and contribute to society and help others to make the world a better place.
How the hell did you write that comment so well?
@@adventuress904probably someone who want attention, or he is just good at it
@@adventuress904you think all people in special ed just lack the ability to spell sentences lol
@@Anteater92006 you can thank media for that lol. Only recently I learned there's a HUGE variety for autism and stuff. Growing up, the only things I knew were down syndrome and some form retardation cuz those were the main things that were made fun of.
@@adventuress904 There are literally hundreds of thousands of people who are "special ed" since special ed can define a number of things, learning disabilities, mental degradation, social or learning difficulties. Attention defficiency, dyslexia, dyscaculia (dyslexia for maths) tourettes, down syndrome, dementia.
Just a very small handful of "special ed" things. "Special eds" who have autism can be anything from an incredibly resctive and sensitive child who has a meltdown over rather small details. Or someone who you wouldn't really knoa excspt maybe they speak a bit too loudly or don't make eye contact.
Similarly ADHD means an inability to pay attention and have short form memory, this can mean ypu forget very basic information you were just told but it can also mwan you get distracted easier than most
When Shaun shouted "It's surgeoning time!" and surgeoned all over the place is truly one of the surgeon moment of all time
He then became the Medic from TF2.

The show "Monk" basically did this scene repeatedly for 8 seasons, and not once did the show act like his friends were villains for pointing out he wasn't stable enough to be a real police officer again.
Of course, that show was better written than this. Better acted, too.

Whole plots so bad. They fired dr han after he took action on this dude for scaring patients and having meltdowns mid operation. And bros first operation back and he has a meltdown 🤦♂️
If you actually pay close attention to all the subtle hints they put in this scene, you can actually tell this show has a medical oriented plot. Amazing writing by the directors of this show
Same director of House MD BTW.
My favourite detail is when he said “I am a surgeon” which references the medical profession of a surgeon, it’s crazy

I AM AN AIRBENDER DR. HAN.
If it weren't for him screaming "I AM A SURGEON!" I would have never known he was a surgeon.
He's an amazing surgeon. He once barricaded himself inside a crowded movie theater and removed everyone's lungs with a scalpel in under 20 minutes. No patient consent forms or anesthesia required! Truly incredible!

The One Piece xD
This scene right here is why I don’t tell people I’m autistic. I don’t want people to think I’m like this guy.
Several more reasons for ya: it's none of their business.
I want to be treated as a person, not a disorder.
It's none of their business.
It doesn't affect every single interaction so why bring it up unless necessary?
*It's none of their business.*
I like how this paints autistic people.
When being presented with logic and reason:
Scream that you are a surgeon, ignore everything else
I have no context for this scene whatsoever but this Dr. Han was being very patient and reasonable. He was very uncomfortable but it seems like he tried his best to be as professional as possible.
The doctor has autism. The one yelling.
Hes a surgeon, what more context do you need
I finally got context, now I no longer have to be here.
Context if you didn’t figure it out yet is he had sensory overload during surgery, instead of getting fired or any extreme measure for him walking out on a dying patient, Han moved him to pathology because he can’t be trusted to be a surgeon
@@Vivinarii no that did not happen doctor han just thought that shaun would be better in pathology instead of being a surgeon so he moved him to pathology (i think shaun is a great surgeon until now im on s3)
